Emptiness of a Soul
Summary - the vision hunt decree gets its 100th vision.
A/N - If you want to support me you can donate on Ko-fi or commission me.
He is on his knees as he looks up to their god in cold fear. He can't feel hatred neither does he feel any warmth towards her. She inspires fear and hesitance, a wish to rebel against her even if all his nerves screamed in fear inside him. She is his archon, but he can't hand over his vision to her, he can't hand over his dreams and ambitions towards her. He can't let her take away everything from him. He struggles against the ropes, it digs into his skin, the seconds slowing down as he watches helplessly as his visions shake against him. He watches in cold as thunder screams and his vision flies away from him, he moves everything in him wishing to get back as cold starts crawling down from his head. He needs it, he needs it, he needs his vision. And yet in a mere second, it's gone, tore away from his soul as it lands in the deity's hand, and he feels everything slowing down around him as the cold seeps into his veins. Electricity is being shot in front of him as his eyes lose focus and he stares down at the wood as his mind loses everything, he once held dear. His memories slip away and empties slip into him as he tries to catch up to everything that is happening to him but sadly, he was slowing down at the same time unable to make sense as he forgets everything. When Aether looks back to his friend, he only sees a corpse wearing the husk of his friend, still, he cuts the rope from his cold skin and picks him up to run away with him. He is taken away with whispers of pity surrounding them from common people who didn't understand the cold pain he was currently in. His mind felt foggy, his body heavy and his skin as cold as ice as he was walked to a destination that didn't come to him anymore.
A shirl voice in the back of his head screams at him, to remember as he is taken inside the tea shop. He screwed his eyes shut as he tried to shut the voice, but it was screaming, its words made no sense and it was only clawing at him to remember something, something that seemed only an annoyance to him right now. A surprise scream follows their entrance as a young lady with pale blue hair and a beautiful face greeted them with a gasp and widen eyes. He notes her greyish eyes as their eyes meet and she flinches away from him as he stares at her as a stranger. The traveller meanwhile motions her to back away as he carries Thomas's limp body inside to sit him down as he shivers in the cold that assaults his skin. He is given some tea by Paimon, and he is left alone as they all walk out, and he can hear the whispers float around as his situation is explained to the young lady he didn't know. He can feel dizzy as her voice assaults him and the crawling only increases as it demands him to remember, to remember it screams. A dull foreign pain struck as he tries to force his memories back to remember if he ever meet the beautiful lady. None, there is no record and yet the screaming doesn't shut up, his body is too heavy and coldness in his veins makes him want to curl and forget everything. He puts the tea down just in time for them to come in and the lady looks at him and she then speaks,
"Thoma," she says his name too familiarly, "Have you forgotten everything?" She asks, desperate as her eyes stare deep into him. He notices the tears gathering and it is like icicles are being shot at him as he realizes he did seem to have forgotten something important. His cold tongue moves lightly as he breathes out a yes and tears falls from her pretty eyes, and he almost wants to comfort her, but his limbs doesn't move, and she is taken away by the traveller as he is left alone again.
He lays down as he tries to catch his breath, closes his eyes, and does tries to remember but all that greets him is emptiness. An emptiness, the screaming and coldness are all that greets as he lays there, folding into himself as he tries to gain some heat back, but he feels uncomfortable and wrong. He doesn't know how much time passes before they come inside, note him and then he is pulled into a futon as the traveller goes to prepare some porridge. The young noble lady gracefully takes a seat beside his bedside, her eyes have dried up, red streaks only around them as they flash with concern. She presses her palm against his forehead and though it is icy cold it gives him a little bit of warmth instead; she pulls it back though with a frown on her delicate features.
"Thoma rest I'll call a doctor for you." Is all is said as she gets up and leaves the room. He wishes silently as he closes his eyes that she would stay a bit longer.
He gets up when the doctor comes in and he notes her sitting there, worried as she watches the doctor examining with hawk eyes. He answers the man's quick questions and is let to eat while the doctor turns to the lady and explains.
"Lady Kamisato it seems to the cause is his loss of vision after all," He remembers the name, one of the tri commissions of Inazuma, why would she care for him? "It is just like other pyro users; the loss of the visions seems to have thrown his body temperature into disarray. Proper rest and food will mostly make him recover in a few days if we go by the other cases." She nods, as he learns more about himself. He had a pyro vision and a relationship of some sort with the young lady of the Kamisato family. It is so unbelievable and yet he accepts it.
He falls asleep again as he is left alone, and he wakes up finally feeling better as he notes the dim light and hears voices speaking outside.
"I am sorry to ask you both just after you both came back but is it possible for you to bring the materials to the doctor to get the medicine?" She asks, her voice quiet and stable, it sounds like a beautiful melody to him.
"Don't worry Ayaka we will get it and come back as quickly."
The traveller nods, "Take care of Thoma." That is all she says as Ayaka bids them farewell with a warning. She walks in and smiles when their eyes meet.
She sits down, so prim and graceful as she takes a seat beside him again and he wonders distantly why she is so beautiful. She checks his temperature before nodding to herself happily and says,
"They will bring your medicine soon so take a rest. You will feel better in the morning."
He huffs as he asks the burning question in him, "Why are you helping me?"
Sadness clouds her eyes as she takes his cold hands and grasps them tightly, "Because you were someone important to me and this time," She promises with determination, "you don't have to worry about anything anymore. I will keep you safe." It still doesn't make sense to him, but he still nods and is lulled back to sleep.
He wakes sometime in the night to be given medicine and notes her handing a letter to the traveller, her eyes blazing as she returns to her place beside him. She smiles gently as she checks his temperature and helps him as his stomach grumbles a bit and she laughs, a chuckle that softens his heart as he watches her get his dinner. She hands him some porridge again and she settles down beside him and he observes her as he eats slowly and notes some little things about her. She was quite beautiful he thinks as she smiles a little at him, patient and more than that seems to care a lot for him. He still doesn't get what relationship they had, but he did feel guilty now that he had forgotten someone who seemed to care so much for him. If she was someone so important to him then shouldn't he have still remembered her? For him, the loss of his vision was not so desperate anymore but he feels guilty and really wished that if it meant saddening this person then he wished he could have kept it by him.
"I'm sorry Lady Ayaka." He says his face down. He doesn't see her smile fall as her lips tremble and her hands wrangled tightly on her lap as she tried to keep her calm and collectiveness. A sec is all and then she is put back together as she smiles again,
"Thoma the shogun took your vision away. It is not your fault." He looks up, that still doesn't make him feel better because wasn't what their archon would do was the right thing to do right? He doesn't say anything though and she only smiles and takes away his dishes. His body is still recovering so he falls asleep again. This time when he wakes up, he doesn't find her there instead he finds other people who explain his life to him and take him back to the Kamisato estate. It is only there that he would learn that the Lady had left the estate for special work and will not return anytime soon.
Ayaka is standing there amidst the wounded and battered men as they glare at her as she is escorted by an army man named Teppei and traveller to the place where she will be granted an audience with Sangonomiya Kokomi and General Gorou of the resistance army. She doesn't flatter as she walks behind them with sure steps and is ushered in a small cabin. There on the headstand are the two most important people of the army, while the soldier heads away, the traveller gets in the middle as Ayaka stands there now to complete her conviction. The doors are closed behind her. When they open again Kamisato Ayaka will betray the shogunate and become a part of the revolutionary army. It will be later known the reason for her betrayal was to end the vision hunt decree and also more personal to get a certain vision back from Raiden Shogun.
A/N - Hey guys I am back and am posting for another GI ship Thomaya. I love them quite a lot and after playing the story quest I decided to write this piece because I was really intrigued by the whole idea of losing everything after losing your vision. So ya this is my headcanon not exactly canon. So hope you like it.

Soulmates
Summary - In the world on Teyvat, you receive a soul mark when you also receive a vision from the seven archons. A gift from the gods they call it, a mark that Eula treasures, a mark that Childe doesn't care about.
if you want to support me you can donate to Ko-fi or commission me.
Eula had gotten her vision, something she did not expect after all people hated her so much, she couldn't believe the archons would love her. It had soothed her heart, it made her believe in the ideals that old outrider had thought her, that she needs to be herself before she can please others. To love oneself before others love her. It was a hard battle, a battle she kept fighting every day. But she plans to reach there, a place where she can carve out her own happiness and it seems the archon are helping her since they even gave her a tattoo. A mark that was reddish grey, a mask-like thing with blue blades protecting it. It was beautiful to her and had become precious to her. She did find it lucky though it was on her back, her shoulder blade a place that easily covers up with her cape. It is also something she can find only when she wants to search for it.
Eula has been born and brought up in Mondstadt, her hometown for forever. As she grew up, she learned about its history, present and its future, to be thought to hope for the past to become the future again. She rejected it, the more she learned, the more she wanted to forget the past and forge a new future for Mondstadt along with the people who long it now. Still, other people do not see that, her name carries too much weight for people to forget it. They hate her for the atrocities that the members of her family in the past had committed in the past, the anger they have still carried from that they hate her for that and want someone to remove their anger on them. She is their scapegoat as she entertains talks with them instead of just looking down on them as her family people. Since she joined the Knights of Favonius though things have become better though, Still, they hate her, they hate her family and will probably carry that anger for more generations to come.
It is something she has become used to, she has always but learned to live with it. To protect the freedom of Mondstadt outside of the city walls, in the wild is where she must defeat their enemies. For most days she is strong with promised vengeance and teachings instilled in her blood, she can carry herself simply fine. She held high and her steps firm, she does not show weakness to anyone in the city. She remains vigilant, carries out the duties bestowed to her and the ideals she herself carries as a noble of the city. On usual days Eula is fine but on certain days she is not.
Such as when she had to arrest her own uncle and throw him in the cell on charges of treason and attempted terrorism. The Lawrence clan is truly despicable, rumours obviously fly, and she decides to retreat out of the city today to keep away from listening to their words filled with venomous anger.
A tent is all she needs as she camps out near the old temples of wind. She sighs as she sets it up, the fire is lit and she starts her cooking, food is generally good for her. Years of practice has made her good at cooking and it is one of her skills that she was proud of. She eats for a bit and is going to sleep soon when she hears disturbingly sounds from the temple that sounds like battle sounds. She gets up and heads out with her claymore in her hand.
Childe believed only in himself and Traitsa, other people only interested him when they posed an actual challenge to him in a fight. As such someone who only craved god fights and to become stronger, he was not the happiest when he got his vision. Hydro vision is known to heal people, he was the opposite of that, he did not care much for his loft vision. The lesser for the non-interesting mark it bore him on his left shoulder blade, he does not care for notions such as soulmates or so. It did make his siblings happy so there was that and his vision did allow him to play with them especially Teucer, so he did not really mind it so much, it took a bit of honing, but he was able to develop it enough that it worked in his battles. It was when he got his delusion that he felt strong, he loved the badge, not for his nor but the power it brought to him. It also made him feel closer to the archon he believed in the strong warrior Tsaritsa. The mark forgot, just as it was in the distant lands of wind.
He has been sent to Mondstat for some work, Signora went back so he is left to pick up her slack, how truly annoying. But being the loyal follower of Tsaritsa, he can't reject her orders. He finishes some paperwork and decides to head out in the wild so that he can leave out some steam. He walks down the wild areas and comes around some ruins where some ruins guards must be present, his blood sings and he run around finding them. He came across one that looks in the middle of a temple, an ancient ruin that doesn't matter to him. He pulls out his bow and aims straight for his eyes. The fight raged on as he jumps from pillars to pillars to avoid its missiles and with a maniacal grin. It is then when a glow brightens and a woman lands with her claymore aiming straight for the head, breaking it cleanly and lands elegantly in front of the breaking machine. Her pale blue hair shines in the moonlight but it angers Childe, she stole his prey.
He frowns, trying his best to retain his blood lust as he jumps down and confronts her, the woman dared to take his prey, "Why did you take it out, milady?" he is smiling but he is feeling anything but blood lust, anger to take out this swordswoman to take away his prey for him.
She turns, her posture elegant and confident as she flips her hair and looks down on him and it makes him angrier if it's plausible. "You were destroying the ruins, as a knight, I can't allow any of our ruins to be destroyed by the likes of you." So many sharks and it makes his eyes twitch.
"I was just taking out a danger, milady it would cause problems for the archaeologists that might come tomorrow in the morning."
She frowns, "That is the job of the knight. I must ask you to stay within your borders. You must be aware Fatui," she says with a sneer, "You are not welcomed in Mondstadt. So, I would be careful to maintain the weak support that keeps you here."
He smirks, ok this woman is interesting she just seems to not hate Fatui, but also look down on him, he can use this. He was itching for a fight and being a knight, she should be at least giving him so entertainment. "Then make me milady."
She smirks as she takes a pose, "I would love to throw you rats out of our city of Freedom."
His blades are frozen as she quickly passes cryo through her blade and applies it on his blades, he smirks as he jumps back, throws his blades on her as he jumps on top of the pillars and aims his bow, the water focuses, and he shoots his arrows. Little hydro made arrows pierce her and she aims her blade above to push her cryo to cover as she tries to dodge as many of them as she can. Some of them cut her pale skin but she cares not as she waits for the arrows to finish and jumps after him, but he has already moved and takes cover on the opposite, sniping her as much as he can, and she must keep applying her cryo to cover her weak spots as she tries to run after him. He is a sneaky rat alright. They chase after each other as she tries to aim cryo arrows at him, but he is flexible enough to dodge her and frustrated she decides to use a large attack, she infuses cryo in her blade, gets as close and makes a wide swing as it cuts his chest and he jumps back, grinning manically. She is far stronger than he had thought. Oh, he is having fun alright, even more than travellers fights recently. He does not notice, but a small cryo sword hangs behind her back, she is slowly infusing with large cryo as he pulls out his swords again and gets close to her to aims at her spots, she does her best to avoid and make sure he does not notice her trick. It takes a bit of them, injuries that she could have otherwise avoided and then she releases the pent-up energy, and it blows in his face. It pierces his skin and cuts him away, freezes his skin and injures him enough to put him on his knees but his grin does not leave his face and it only makes her scared a bit. It is then he decides as he pushes his own hydro energy and activates his Foul legacy.
The electro pulses around them and she understood the danger so she moves, running making sure that they will get out of the ruin. Their survey will get disturbed especially since this is Barbato's old temples, a national symbol of Mondstadt. She runs, running through the trees avoiding his electro arrows. She applies cryo to her back as she runs across the field, jumps down the path and lets out some cryo to push the monster towards him to make sure he gets disturbed. She jumps and turns around circling the mountain and then starts climbing, as fast as she can. She runs around, making sure no one is around before she places herself in the middle of the Snarsnatch cliff making sure he will follow her. She pulls out little potions she had made to increase her cryo power and power her up as she closes her eye, relocates her powers, and feels herself smirk a little as he floats near, and they start dancing again.
They stay injured as they lay opposite to each other panting heavily and wincing from their wounds. they both had fallen at the same time, the winner has not been decided but they can't carry on their fight, so they lay there not sure what to do but also not ready to give the other an upper hand.
The wind caresses their wounds, and he gets up, adrenaline pumping his blood, "I didn't know knights had such a good fighter in them. I thought only their grandmaster was worth a fight."
She frowns, springing up regardless of how hurt she was, "Knight's safeguard Mondstadt, the ones are chosen out of hundreds to protect the city. You will do well to not look down on us Fatui." She flips her hair, "To insults knights and me. Be forewarned vengeance will be mine."
He smirks his blood pumping, oh how would he love to fight with her again. "Oh, lady I would love to see you try that."
She frowns, "stop calling me lady, you would call me by title, I am Eula the Spindrift knight of knights of Favonius."
He nods and smirks. "I am Childe, the 11th harbinger of Fatui."
It was two days later when she ran into harbinger again. Childe with his annoying smile as he slides across her with a pint of wine in his eyes, glares. Drinking is one of the few pass times that help her relax after an exhausting day of work, most of the time no one's shares a table with her and that does sadden her but other times she is glad to have a little bit of silence to herself and enjoy her own company without having to worry about others opinion of her. Today she wanted to be left alone since she was tired from work and recovering from the wounds, he gave her. So, she needed a good drinking time to herself, but it seems the damned= Fatui didn't get her message and he still refuses to budge even after she and many others are giving him all kinds of glares and look.
He ignores them as he with his annoyingly honeyed voice says, "Hello there Eula you look as beautiful as you always do." If she was not a noble lady, she would have smacked him right there and then. I
instead, Eula tries her best to ignore his presence and keeps on drinking, but he doesn't care and continues the chat, starting to say things about one of his adventure or another, she cares not but he is close to her so hears, nonetheless. It was something about taking on some monsters and enjoying the fight. She sighed, what was up with this man, she just couldn't figure it out. She finally relents and replies to him when he is talking about his siblings and ice fishing and she just losses her lips and smiles a little, amused as she says,
"How foolish to fall in the sea in Snezhnaya of all places." He smirks when he hears her reply and she groans, oh the drinks are getting to her. To ensure she doesn't make a fool out of herself, she gets up, pays her money, and tries to leave, he blocks her exit.
Diluc's shift had just started as he clears his throat loudly and glares at him as he asks her, "Is everything ok here?" Childe glares back but she pushes him away, thanks Diluc and leaves. The chilly wind calming her down as she quickly makes her way to her dorms.
The man won't leave her alone though and instead is hell-bent on talking to her, she 'coincidentally' runs into him many times even on her routes to take care of work.
She finally gives up when he is waving at her while she makes way to observe a treasure hunter group. "Oh, hello milady, a coincidence to run into you here again." He says so innocently.
She glares at him as she sighs and moves around, "I will not tolerate if you interfere with my work. " She moves not waiting to see if he follows and heads to the site, she was given information about.
She slowly creeps down to a nearby bush and stations herself there, he takes a seat beside her and turns to her, "Why are you hunting these weak ones."
She sighs, "Why do you keep following me if are not even interested in my work."
"You are the one in quite a while who made my blood boil in a fight. I haven't fought with someone who made me injure so much in quite a while. I would like to spar with you again."
She gives a flat look; did he seriously follow her around because she fought well? How stupid. "I would rather you leave right now," she says seriously but he ignores her,
"I would like to spend time with you, I want to know who my opponent is."
She glares at him, trying hard to hide her slightly flushes cheeks. This is foolish, he is an enemy, someone they will expel from the city eventually. So, she ignores his words and decides to do what she had come here to do originally to monitor the treasure hunters' group and gather intel if they were up to no good. She glares at him from a side-eye as she listens to them. He smirks. oh, he hasn't been this curious in a long time, he decides to let her work this time later they can spar again. They focus on the men, few feet away from them. They are talking about some of the ruins that are being excavated recently, she notes as they continue wondering if they will get any treasures from it, she notes this as she keeps intently listening while Childe observes both groups and it was then when the sun hits right above them and her headpiece glints, one of them catches it and in few seconds, everyone springs to action.
She is sparing against one of the bulky ones while he takes her back and shoots down the projectile’s others throw towards them; she is trying her best to not rely on him, but she must admit it secretly that his help is nice since she hates the reactions they cause when they throw elemental projectiles at her. She focuses on taking the ones fighting in close counters, he is wielding a bow, so he needs her to defend him. She keeps a vigilant out for them, easily parring their blows when three of them jump together and she pulls him to swing him aside with her right hand while she twists herself and lets out a cryo energy as they hit her right on her upper chest. She huffs as she kneels and she looks up to see a dark murderous look come up on the fatui as he suddenly puts away his bow and makes a long lance with only hydro as he swings it wide, cutting them all down before he puts it away and goes over to her giving her a hand. She pushes away his hand, putting her great sword in the ground and pushes herself up.
They head to the only man left from the group and she glares at him and asks about their plans, and he confesses that they plan to sabotage the survey and steal all the treasures that might exist in there. She frowns and with a heavy hand takes the man and decides to head back to the city, when he tries to pull the man in his grasp and takes it from her as he turns to her while putting the limp man on his shoulder.
"Are you going to put him in jail?" He asks looking bored, and she is trying hard to ignore the pile of bodies and glares at him her hands crossed.
"Yes, you have already a mess, that I will need to explain, and I would like to decrease the count even by one."
He smiles, "Well I can't tolerate such wimps taking you out, milady."
She shakes her head and just starts walking back to the city as she laments the fact, he has gotten stuck to her because of the sins her clan must have committed. Truly, how annoying.
She finally decides to give him the fight he wants so much so would just stop following her around everywhere like a lost puppy. It is starting to not only worry her but others too, the incident from that day spread like wildfire, and Jean also looked worried as she stared at the duo standing in the HQ. Everyone obviously knew by now that he was part of the Fatui so rumours have started flying considering it has been only some time since the last incident with her uncle so everyone had become cautious, and she would like to crush the rumours before they became a problem, so she gives him a look as she gets him out of the city and finally says.
"We will fight, a proper one until one of us wins and everything is allowed." His whole face lights up in excitement, like a dog that was given a bone, she doesn't get him, his eyes are always so dead and his feelings so fake and yet whenever they spar, or he fights someone he looks genuinely happy. It makes her curious of what kind of person he is to be so happy with only fighting and yet so uncaring of everything else, even his own life. She continued her declaration, "On one condition."
That straightens up, cautious as he asks, "And what will that be milady?"
"I want you to leave Mondstadt once we have decided a victor."
He smirks challenging, "We fatui haven't received orders to leave so I must decline that condition unless Traitsa herself orders it. I will not remove my men and betray her highness."
She sighs, knowing this, in the weeks he has been following her she has learned his undying loyalty to cryo archon. A city without any archon to rule, she didn't understand that devotion, but she knew well that it surpassed his need for strong fights, "Then I will ask at least you a harbinger to leave, it would make it easier for us to keep an eye on the Fatui." He gets that and anyways once he fights, he can leave he was forcefully staying here even though he has already gotten orders to return to Shenezaya to discuss their plans for the Electro archon. He smirks and agrees to the condition.
They decide on time and place and separate to prepare for the battle. The traveller arrives on time who gives an explanation to Jean and all for Childe's weird behaviour and helps her train against his annoying foul transformation that is something he has experienced too dealing with. The week comes quickly, and they both meet each other on top of Storm bearer mountains, ready to fight as they pull out their weapons, get ready and fight with only each other as a witness.
Hours pass as she dodges another of his arrows while jumping and trying to cut him down, he pushes back, butting out his blades to parry her and it tuns again into sword fights. He uses all the weapons in his arsenal while she must keep up with his changing ways of fighting. She hates to admit it, but he is the superior warrior, so adept, so agile, and so honed to the art of fighting. She knows it's a matter of time as the wounds cover both, their pants filling the mountains, all the wild have since left them alone and both humans move only with their willpower. Her arms are heavy, the claymore too heavy for her but she swings it regardless as he puts away his bow and instead takes the lance to fight knowing well, he needs to give his all. The fight is coming soon to a close and she wonders when he will bring out his delusion, but he doesn't, and her leg falls as it gives up on her finally and he takes the moment to take the jump on her. He pushes her to the ground, taking hold of her hands, placing both above her as he stresses right in her face, so close their eyes glaring at each other as one grins maniacally while the other tired. They pant as his lance is kept near her neck and she knows it's her defeat.
It makes her angry, but she swallows it with her dignity and says, "I lose." The lance disappears but he stays there, and she stares into his dull blue eyes, and he stares back in her pink-hued ones, far brighter than him. The silence and wind flow between, neither says a word but something passes between them as they stare further into each other and engrave this memory in each other's minds.
He leaves after that day, and it lets go of one of her burdens. The whispers don't fade right away but they soon disappear and is all well again in the city of freedom. Or at least it should have been but as she sits alone again in Angels share, she feels lonely. She doesn't want to admit it though, after all, you feel lonely for people you care for, love. She does neither for him, but she misses him, his too buttery smile as he slides across her seat and chats continuously about all kinds of things especially his three siblings – Antonio, Teucer and Tonia. He always spoke happily of his siblings, for them they were his greatest pride, she had siblings too, but she hardly ever met them since she joined the knights. Her family never mattered to her if they hold on to their old beliefs but for him, they were his entire world. She misses his constant presence as he hovered around her everywhere, it worried her but now it had become a daily occurrence in the months he had stayed. She hates to admit it truly but she mises Childe, she missed spending time with him. He always accompanied her and made it even easier to ignore the scorned voices, the loneliness, the need to always be on the edge to make sure she will not be taken over. It was tiring but with him, she could be safe that her back will be protected, that the voices will quiet down, and the darkness will recede from her.
She changes another glass of red wine from Shenezaya to drown her feelings alongside the feelings he has left in her.
He twirls an ice charm in his hands, a gift he got from her. She had been making them to please some kids, to gain some brownie points with them. An extra was left so she had handed it to him. He had at that time had decided to give it to Teucer when he goes back home but now as he sails back home, he can't help but keep it close to him. He acknowledges his feelings quite quickly, the loneliness she has left in him is something curious and striking. He has not felt this in a long time, he misses his siblings, but it is not the same as that, it was different stronger, a feeling that he can't let go just like the ice charm that twirled gently in his hand. It was for the ae reason he had refused to use his foul transformation; he dint want to leave her. He didn't want to leave the girl who had broken herself to his heart, a place deep buried in the darkness of his mind, no one has entered since that frost day when he had felt into the abyss.
He leaves a smiling breath, the lady doesn't want him though, so he has left, and he refuses to acknowledge it feels the same as leaving his home behind after all he is heading back to his home.
It is Tonia who points out the similarity that the charm possess. She says with wonder as she puts down Teucer's favourite soup in front of all of them as she asks about it that he has always kept around him, "Doesn't that look similar brother? Where did you get that?" She asks and it triggers an image in him that he has long forgotten. He doesn't show it but as soon as dinner is done, he all but rushes back to his room to confirm and it stares into his face and calls him an idiot. It is similar, far too same as his soul mark, the same insignia she always wore around on her hip, his mark was the same. The pale blue of her ice calling him foolish as he traces and hands-on it gently, he had forgotten it for so long, not caring about it but now it all makes sense. His uncanny attraction to her, his feelings that blossomed so strongly only after knowing her for few months, the feeling of home he had to leave behind. Oh, it all makes sense now.
She was his soul mate and he had fallen in love with the girl who spoke vengeance when she wanted to express her love.
He loved Eula. He smirks as he makes his way to the ice fortress, he is heading back to Mondstadt, he refuses to let her go now that he knows about their future. He refuses to ever let her go; he promises he will be being a beautiful lady to his siblings as he boards the ship back to the city of freedom.
The city is just as he remembers all those months back and he steps out of the harbour, letting his subordinate's take his luggage as they try to please him, but he ignores them and heads out, leaving the city behind and heads to the wilderness. The trails she leaves are easy to find as he heads to the thousands wind temple where they first met and finds her camping out again today. He finds anger simmer under him, but he ignores it as he makes way to her smiling slightly as he wonders how she will react. He quiets his feet down as he comes near her, pulls out his bow and with precision aims it right at her, and as he expected she jumps back, turning with that grace she no naturally possessed. She glares at him, her blade ready to attack him and he smirks, oh gods she is incredibly beautiful as he pulls out his own blade just in time for her to recognize him and he attacks her. This is the dance they both are familiar with now and fall in step quickly, it takes few jabs from her before he collapses on his knees in front of her and she puts her sword on his neck, and he submits to her with a smile. Oh, he will always submit to this beautiful woman. She is panting as she puts at him and puts away her claymore to glare at him, but he stops her as he gets up quickly and takes her hand in him, guiding to her another familiar once he remembers seeing her practice and she flushes as she falls in step, her body remembering the steps too well for it not fall alongside him. Their hands placed properly, and she stares at him in mix of emotions.
"What is the name of seven archons are you doing here?" She asks, her thoughts too jumbled and the sudden changes of actions by him.
He grins as he sides steps and pulls her along, they are dancing in the empty temple surrounded only by wind, "I missed you my princess, so I came back."
She flushes as he tightens her hold on his shoulder and sweeps her leg back as they twirl around, "Have you gone further mad? What are you even saying?"
He laughs as he spins her and pulls her back in his embrace, oh even her coolness warms his heart, "Well, I will say these feelings are kind of madness but yes I mean every word I say. I did miss you princess and even if it meant breaking my promise to you. I wanted to see you again." He says as he stares into her eyes, and she notes that his dead eyes look more alive now. It affects her heart, and she tries to push, but his grip is tight, his eyes determined as he steps with her in perfect rhythm, like this dance was always meant to be danced with him.
"You are a fatui, my enemy."
His gentle smile doesn't leave his face, as he places his hands on her waists and picks her up to spin her and she does as gracefully as always, her feet land light as he gives his answer, "I don't care, I wish to stay by your side no matter what."
"You will leave the Traitsa for me?" She asks, she hears beating anxiously waiting for his answer, as she clicks her toes, and they move straight among the pile of rubbles.
"No, I have sworn my loyalty to her," her face falls, "But I shall give all my left-over time to you." How selfish of him to swear his loyalty to two women but Eula is not surprised as she looks up to him, a smile not leaving her face.
"You are truly an insufferable man, aren't you? To ask me to take your loyalty while knowing well how much I have to lose." She quips even with the gentle smile, she is sad, so scared everything she has built will fall if she takes his hand.
As if he knows this very well, he uses his last weapon, the dagger stabbing in her heart just like he wanted, "I love you, Eula." He pulls her closer as the words sink in her, "I am your soul mate and I want to spend our future together," He slows down, they rock with each other as the winds slow down, the silence far too loud around them as the words linger in the wind. He is so selfish and yet she knows the truth has been spoken from his lips for the very first time and she obliges as she closes her eyes and places her head on his neck, trying to gain what warmth she can from him. It chills her bones, the feelings she holds but she knows the words that express them are not false and they came far easier as the sun sets on them.
"I love you too, Childe."
Years later an eternal bard will sing about a forbidden love between two enemies, fated by gods to be together as they fought the world's hatred towards them and stayed together until their end of time. He would smile gently as he would sing about their eternal dance among the wind and snow.

Please do whatever you can, even a few money will save someone’s life! Please help India it is suffering.
So, India is dying.
Look, I know a good number of you are from the US and things aren't amazing there either, but my country is literally on the brink of collapse. So I'd love it if we could talk about that for a minute.
If you can't do anything else, please just read and reblog.
A second COVID wave has taken out the healthcare system. There are no more hospital beds. There's an oxygen shortage. There's a critical vaccine shortage. The Central Government has thrown its hands up and is passing the baton to the State Governments to do what they can.
There are over 16 million covid cases. A record 330,000 new cases reported yesterday - comparable to the US at its peak. 187,000 dead as of today.
There is no plan.
Mass cremations are taking place. The cremation grounds are running day and night and they are short on wood. People are watching their loved ones die while waiting for a hospital bed, and then they're unable to give them the proper burial rights.
Tumblr media
Hospitals are overwhelmed. Patients are being confined, two to a bed. They're the lucky ones.
Tumblr media
We are on the verge of people dying in the streets.
This is the second-most populous country in the world. The largest democracy. A country that encapsulates over 15,000 years of recorded human history and has endured everything from famine to invasion to colonisation.
We might be at the end. This might be the thing that does us in.
People are dying.
Tumblr media
People are dying.
Tumblr media
People are dying and there is no plan.
Tumblr media
More good news? Variants are popping up. A double mutation strain has shown up. It is resistant to current vaccines. This will not go away. This is the devastation they warned of when the anti-maskers were out protesting the minor inconvenience of covering their face in public.
My country is on the verge of an emergency state. Our government has failed us. This is as dire a situation as it ever could be.
Look. I don't do much with my life. I write fics, some of you have read them and that's pretty much it. I spend my days with my head in the clouds because that's where I like to be.
But two days ago, my grandmother tested positive, had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance caught fire.
She barely made it to the urgent care she needs.
So, here I am, using whatever meager platform I have to cobble this request together. Because I have to do something.
If you can, donate.
Or spread the word.
Help. Please.

How to take care of a tired Qilin.
Summary - When Ganyu is super tired she turns into a small, fluffy and super cute qilin and obviously it is up to Xiao to take care of her.
A/N - You can ready it on FF.net and Ao3. You can support me on Ko-fi or commission me.
Ganyu normally is stable, she can easily control and regulate her forms but there are times when she can't. Today she was tired, very tired, work after the rite of parting had taken a toll on her and when she had finally decided to take rest her body had decided she needs proper rest.
Xiao finds a sleeping qilin under the canopy of trees in Jeyuen Krast where he had come to take care of some work. The small size, the beautiful cold blue fur had given up who the qilin was. He sighed as he shook his head, she had worked herself up to half-death again.
Xiao jumped up to the cliffs and collected the Qingxin flowers that had bloomed there. It took him only 20 mins before he jumped back to where she was and made way to her sleeping form. It has been ages since he has last seen her transform. He sits beside her and carefully starts stroking her very soft fur. She moves then snuggles under his hand and goes back to sleep. For an hour they stay like that, in peace as he enjoys slowly stroking her head and listening to her make small sounds of approval in her sleep.
An hour later her clear pink eyes open and she yawned cutely. She tried to stretch but that was when she noticed a weird thing, her hands were well, not where she expected and felt too small. She blinked her eyes, looked down in surprise, the ground was far too close, her skin was too hot and when she moved her hands she could feel the fur. She took a deep breath and when she looked up, Xiao - who had stopped stroking her fur - stared back at her. His golden eyes met hers and she noticed how big he looked to her right now. She looked down and asked the question she already knew the answer to.
"I turned into my illuminated beast form didn't I?" She sighs as she asks.
He nodded, "You were already changed when I came here." He then crosses his hands, "You should have been careful, you know considering how vulnerable you can be in this form?"
She tries to pout but her mouth is small so it doesn't quite come out the same way still he gets it as he watches her huff cutely "I didn't think I would turn here so suddenly or I would not have come to forests today." She says while looking away and he silently agrees with the voice that says, she is super cute.
He sighs though and instead states "Well today there is some disturbance here, I have cleared it for now but you should go back to the harbour." Ganyu nods, close her eyes and utters the words to change back but when she opens her eyes she is still in her qilin form. With puppy eyes, she looks up to Xiao who shakes his head.
"I have told you when the mind is troubled or tired your body will reflect that." He is scolding her but his voice is kind. She looks down, her little form shaking as she looked like she was going to cry. He looks away feeling a little guilty so he sighs, puts away the issue for now and instead gently picks her up and puts her on his shoulder but that surprises her and she desperately clings to his clothes as she sighs in relief and turns to him pouting.
He explains, "Come on, I will take you to Cloud Retainer, you can take proper rest there." She smiles as she thanks him, he nods at her and asks her to hold him properly. He crunches down and jumps while keeping a gentle hand on her so she doesn't fall off. They jump through the cliffs as he finally reaches the Adeptus abode and stops in front of the long-forgotten stone table. He puts her down on the table where once three sat and took up to call the Adeptus out but no answer was given back to him. He calls out again and then sighs, Ganyu's face falls.
"Looks like she is out." He states the obvious and turns to her while crossing his hands, "What do you want to do now?"
She lets out another cute sigh and takes the forests in, near abode most monsters won't come but who knows how long it will take for Cloud Retainer to come back, at times she would just disappear to try her hand on her new inventions and with no sense of time, she would return days or months later. Surely, she will eventually come back but still, she might as well starve here with no food. She looks up to him, and gives him puppy eyes as she says,
"I can't go back to the harbour, can we head back to your place?" The 'no' was screaming in him but Xiao was not the kind of person who would just leave her here to starve, so, with great conflict (not really), he gave a conflicted sigh and picked her up again and put her on his shoulder. He makes sure she is stable before he moves again. It takes a bit longer but he jumps them down and finally reaches the Washung inn. He heads straight into his room and puts her down on his bed.
She smiles at him, "I am sorry Xiao for the trouble and thank you for helping me."
He silently rolled his eyes and says "I am not going to leave you alone in the wild while you are so weak." She winces but thanks him nonetheless, he sits down near her.
"What do you want to do now?" She looks around to his almost dark room, only lit by a single candle, it was filled with basic furniture and his weapons, nothing more.
She knew that was Xiao's style, she looks up to him and says "I have no work with me so I really have nothing to do right now." He looks down and puts a hand on her head and pushes her gently into the bed.
"Go to sleep, you need that." She looks panicked, not used to resting so much but Xiao glares at her as he lifts his hand and all but commands, "This all happened because you didn't rest, you need to take rest while you can." She whimpers as she nods and with that curls around and lays down, she still stares at him with an eye open and he sighs. He forcefully ignores the screams in his mind about how cute she is and says "I have more work to do so I am leaving, don't leave the room until I am back." He pats her once before he gets up and makes sure the door is closed and goes out and heads to Guili plains to slay more demons. She falls into sleep soon after he leaves as the salty smell of Dihua Marsh fills the room and the chirps of birds just outside. She feels nostalgic for the old centuries and falls into sleep.
He comes back silently as he walks in with airy steps and looks into the darkness to see the qilin sleeping soundly. She was breathing lightly, her mouth open with small snores that he did find cute even if he will never say it out loud. Just like before she was sound asleep so he decided to leave her and headed upstairs to the roof. He sat there below the tree as he looked over Dihua Marsh and took in the wind, he closes his eyes and rests against the bark, slowly examining his wounds today. They were not bad, just a few scratches and bruises so he was sure they will heal up in no time. He watches the clouds drift apart, the silence and the time passing doesn't matter to him. As an Adeptus, he was used to having time pass by him and it did until he came to attention when a certain qilin entered the roof. She looked up to the moon before she looked around trying to find him, it was late in the night so no humans had yet encountered her. As he got up to jump down, a certain manager came in. Ver Goldet came up to the roof, obviously surprised as she took the little Adeptus in, she crouched down and Xiao jumped down in front of them. She looked up and imminently bowed.
"Oh, Xiao-sama I was just checking what was this little animal was doing." She explained, she knew he didn't like it when they encroached on his space.
He turns to the qilin and says "It is ok don't worry she is with me."
The manager was surprised and bowed to the Qilin, she obviously still didn't recognize the secretary and says "Oh, my apologies enlightened Adeptus I didn't mean any rudeness." Ganyu tried to smile as she nods and shakes her head.
"It is quite ok Ver Goldet, and can you get the dinner sent to us in my room?" She nods and takes their order before taking her leave. He turns to her and asks her what she is doing here.
"I noticed you were back so I wanted to check in on you." She looks all over his body, "Are you ok Xiao?" She didn't note any wounds on him. He shakes his head and then turns to the roof and looks at her with an eyebrow raise asking her if she wants to stay here. She nods and he helps her get up the tree barks and they both isolate themselves and get comfortable against the branches. She rubs against the tree and smiles peacefully, the tree feels so alive and healthy.
She then turns out to the marsh and smiled, how beautiful the scene was. Xiao waited for her to fall asleep again, but she had slept quite a lot so she stayed up and stared at the marsh. The past came in flashes as she remembered the past 6 centuries, the war and the people they lost over the years. She remembered the gentle goddess and the Yakshas that lost their lives in a horrible but prideful way. She remembered the adepti that gave their life away for Rex lapis and his building region and the worst thing she remembered was every single day the blood that was spilled by her hands, the blood that still covered her. She turned to Xiao who still suffered because of the war and yet he always seems to take pride in his duties. She wonders how he forgets the blood, the nightmares filled with screams of their victims, she wondered how he forgave his past.
She bites her inner cheek gently as she shakes her head to forget such thoughts. Xiao has lost many people, everyone he got close to has left him, the karma binds him and makes him suffer to this day, she truly can't believe her suffering is more than his. She has it far easier than him she knew. She must stay strong though after all she too was Rex lapis's Adeptus, one of the guardians of Liyue.
She apologises to him silently to think lower of his sufferings before she too let her thoughts go in the wind, they watch the clouds pass until they are called for dinner by the inn lady. She jumps down gracefully and walks alongside him as they walk back to his room and thank her for the dinner. They settle on his simple table as she takes in the small bowl that looks like a cat dish, she pouts as he smirks. She looks up to him and huffs as he chuckles slightly.
"You are the same size as Wei."
She pouts cutely, using all her face muscles and says "You know better than anybody how big Qilins are."
He smirks remembering her illuminated form better than anybody "Well this is the treatment you get when one doesn't take care of oneself."
She whimpers as she agrees with his words. His scolding though was a small jab and he chuckled as he saw her whimpering, Ganyu was far too accepting when people criticized or scolded her, "I have learned my lesson, Xiao." She says as she pouts at him and he gives her a nod while looking away, she was far too cute for her own good.
He eats his almond tofu as she finished her vegetarian albone and he does note it is quite a small portion from what she eats normally, so he lets her finish and then calls out to her and pats a spot on his lap, she jumps and settles down and looks up to him as he half-smiles and scoops little of his almond tofu and offers to her. She looks surprised as she confirms if it's ok, he nods and she slowly nibbles on it. He makes her eat more before he gives her a pat and finishes his own meal.
"You feel better now?" She nods.
She smiles at him, "Thank you for sharing your food, Xiao." He nods and she jumps down as he gets up and puts their plates out as she decides to walk around his room and take it all in. It's the first time she has been inside, after all, it will also probably be the last time too. Everyone knows well Xiao doesn't like anyone in his personal space. She can smell better in this form so she takes in his musky smell, and blushes bright red not that anyone will notice considering her fluffy fur. As she jumps on his storages, he comes back and folds his hands and stares at her with flat eyes.
"What are you investigating Ganyu?" She huffs as she glares at him.
"I was just looking around a bit. I was not poking my nose anywhere."
He gives her another look before he sits down on his bed and picks up his lance and starts cleaning it. She comes near him and settles beside him, as she watches his practised elegant moves as he cleans up his jade lance, they sit there peacefully until he turns and says, "Did you bring your bow?" She nods but since she can't turn back she can't call it out right now. He sighs and instead continues with his lances. The process is calming and she nestles herself on his side as she continues watching his hands. They are quite skilled she notes and blushes when her imagination goes a bit far. She shakes her head in the silence and gets back to watching him. As the calm envelopes her she slowly drifts to slumber without even realising.
He looks down as he finishes his jade lance and sighs, she was asleep again, he wonders truly how long it has been since she has last gotten decent sleep. He slowly pats her head and she unconscious snuggles into it and it makes him slightly blush, his heart once again acting up. It was truly weird feelings, these human emotions that didn't belong to him. He takes away his hand and continues his work, as usual, the Yaksha doesn't sleep but his body does relax as she sleeps at his side. It feels natural, he muses as he works for his hands, it feels so natural to have her on his side. It has been so long since he has spent a whole day with her. It all felt so natural and relaxing and his head has been calm and his pain subdued. This is not the first time he has realised the effect she has on him, they have been fighting by each other side for centuries but this is the first he can fully bathe in that peaceful feeling without having to worry about anything else. He acknowledges the fact that Ganyu was special to him whether he liked it or not she had made herself special to him and now all he can do is to choose whether to act upon the fact or not. He looks down at her, the choice is easy but really hard to make at the same time. He is not a being that deserves happiness and yet it seems destiny doesn't want to play fair to him. Still, he smiles a little, they have time, they always had time so he can make his own choice. He hopes she will wait for him.
The hours pass and as the clock turns 5, a body suddenly appears beside him, snuggling against his shoulder. He does blush as Ganyu, now in her human form decides to still keep snuggling, her hands wound up holding the edges of his shirt as her head naturally fits in the creek of his neck and her body snuggles right up to his shoulder. He takes a deep breath and banishes all the evil thoughts, it was wrong of him to think of Ganyu like that but just like voices they just make themselves heard, his voices laughing maniacally and calling him a beast. He knows that and he should probably detach her, but she looks too comfortable for him to do that and he rationalises she will probably return to work once she is up so he should let her take her rest as much as she can. She already works so hard and as her mentor, the least he can do is make sure she is taking proper rest. So we that reasoning, he lets her nap while taking stolen glances at her and then chiding at himself to act so immorally. It was unbecoming of an Adeptus to act on such basic human desires but he can't hide the heat filling inside him as she keeps snoring on his arm.
His happy times (he will refuse that vehemently) ends when half an hour later Ganyu wakes up and jumps two feet back when she realises the situation. He sighs and schools himself back to his blank look as she blushes wildly and starts apologising. It makes him hurt that she thinks he is some kind of short-fused man, he won't get mad at her for nodding off on him. He doesn't say that as he puts a heavy hand on her head and makes her look up, their eyes meet and all he says.
"Stop apologising."
She nods and he lets her go. He gets up, stretches his muscles, putting away his lances he turns towards her, she definitely looks well-rested. Her skin colour has returned and her muscles don't seem as tense as before. He nods at her and asks her when she is leaving.
"I will probably get breakfast and then head back to the harbour." She bows when he gets up, "Thank you Xiao for letting me stay and rest. I probably would have gotten more tired if I stayed out there."
He sighs and crosses his hands, "Just remember to take rest Ganyu. You work too hard." She sighs in defeat as she nods, "Those humans won't fall apart if you take rest for one day." She nods, as usual he is brash when giving advice, well she is someone who likes that part of him so she can't really say anything. She smiles at him, thanks him and takes her leave. He won't ever admit that he will miss her for the next week while working.
She walks into the Liyue harbour, well-rested and well-fed. The sea breeze greets her morning as the merchants start the day and ships start docking for the day, some greet her and others are too focused to do so. She greets them back and as she walks to Liyue harbour, she stops near the dock area and looks out at the sea, the sea hasn't changed but the city has changed quite a lot. A lot of things have changed in these centuries but some things do remain unchanged she muses as she remembers Xiao, he has remained the same and yet she knows he has changed too, he after all smiled again. She can remember the last time he smiled, it was in the field of glaze lilies beside the gods and Yakshas, their little family back then. Now, she knows he doesn't smile any more but yesterday he had and she hopes she had played a little part in it. She knows these feelings will remain unchanged no matter the centuries and one day she will act upon them, change will come and she can choose to embrace it.
Well, not now though, she knows they can take their time. They have always had plenty of time.

Time spent between an Eternity.
Summary - Ganyu and Xiao's little snippets as they spent time between there eternities.
And if you want to support me you can donate on Ko-fi or commission me.
The first time she met him, she shrunk away in fear and hid behind the long tails of Guizhong's skirt. The kind goddess silently laughed as she put a gentle hand on top of her head and tried to coax her out, but she was trembling as she fixed herself tightly on her leg. Xiao had only scoffed and left, his golden eyes holding deep emotions that she only later understood in life. Later, she found out his name and the fact he is one of the Yaksha's that Rex lapis brought among them. She remembers Lady Guizhong's soft voice as she explains to her about Xiao,
"Ganyu, Xiao's eyes are scary but that is because he is a hurt soul. Even though his hands can kill anyone, he holds a kind heart. The heart that wishes to protect the weak and slay the evil.' She smiled gently at her, "Trust that boy Ganyu, he is someone you can trust.'
The second time they met was when she was playing around with Guizhong and other human kids in the glaze lillies fields. He walked in, clothes coated in blood as he panted slightly. From of him was Rex lapis, looking immaculate as he always did but she could smell the blood on him even with flowers surrounding them. She and the other kids had hidden behind the kind goddess as she got up and checked on the two of them. The adults talked in slow voices, words she couldn't understand as a child. The human kids had shrivelled up and stayed completely behind, away from there eyesight while Gnayu getting curious snuck a peek and meet Xiao's golden eyes again. She shrunk back but again glanced, curiosity filling her as she wondered what happened to the two of them. The boy looked hurt as he looked away, around the beautiful flower field and yet his eyes didn't reflect that beauty. Ganyu stared, her pink eyes staring at his whole image as she took a step forward but instead of encouragement Guizhong picked her up, her face pulled in a scary emotion. She tried to smile but the girl can see the trouble in her eyes.
"Ganyu why don't you take kids back to the town and head to Cloud retainer?" She asked gently, the girl tilted her head in confusion, "It is time for your training child." Her head was patted gently and that calmed her down as she nodded and then run away not noticing there troubling looks as the adults prepared for yet another battle.
The third time they met she saw a blood trail and followed it to find him, resting behind a huge tree, hiding from everyone, she was not aware of this so curious the little child went near him, noting his wounds and now completely worried. He was very bloody and was panting and sharply turned towards her when he noticed her. The lance was put down as he took her in and ignored her expecting her to run away as usual whenever she saw any of Yakshas, especially him. The girl instead stayed, staring at him with wide worried eyes but he can feel her fear as she stays grounded two feet away from him. He sighed, he needs to patch up his wounds, he doesn't have time to deal with a scared child. He was going to get up when she started suddenly running to him in a burst of energy, he was shocked as she tripped and barrelled down the small slope. He got up to watch as she got covered in yellow leaves, she got up sniffing slightly but instead of crying she again looked towards him, determined pink eyes as she ran back uphill and came to a screeching stop in front of him. He bent down, only a bit worried for her, he had seen Guizhong talk to her like this so he came to her eye level and waited. She pushed white Qingxin flowers in front of him, he took them too surprised to say something, she then gently but slightly shakingly put a hand on his bloody arm, her pearly white hands turning red as she took a step further in and he flinched slightly.
In a small voice she started singing and then said "Pain, pain go away," She looked up expectantly at him, he stared back confused. Her face fell as she pitifully explained, "Guizhong sings this song when I am in pain and Cloud retainer says eating food makes you healthy." Tears gather in her pure pink eyes "I was not able to make the pain go away."
He sighed in slight annoyance, but really he was not that annoyed actually. This is the first time some has done well something like this. He is not sure what all of this is though, another sigh. She is innocent, he remembers Rex lapis words, they are fighting this war to protect the weak people of Guizhong, he lets out a final sigh and in a slow gruff voice says, "My pain has gone away, it doesn't hurt." It is so embarrassing as he flushes slightly but looks at her hoping she stopped crying.
Her whole face brightens up as she glows in happiness, the kind he has never seen or experienced, she immediately let's go and starts patting him everywhere repeating the mantra, and he silently hisses hoping she won't notice. She is happy and excites and he can't believe one sentence can make someone so happy, mortals were really foolish. As he ruminated on these new feelings, Guizhong finally found him and glared at him when she approached him, his lance in his hand causing the little girl to stop and turn towards the kind goddess who immediately noticed her in surprised and then gleefully smiled as she came near her and patted her and crouched down too.
"Now, what have you been up to Ganyu?" She asked gently, by now the little girl was covered in blood-red as she pulled her hands next to her and happily explained what she did. The goddess laughed as she turned to him and he turned away flushing slightly. The goddess patted her horns as she praised her and then "Now, child run to Cloud retainer and clean yourself. I will handle getting Xiao back to the city." The child nodded and ran away. He saw her little finger now in white and red running away, he looked away something budding in him.
The goddess turned to him with a kind smile, "Thank you Xiao for protecting her kindness. This world is as harsh as it is." She looked pained as she twirled a little dust in her palm.
He huffed and only replied "Don't you dare utter a word to anyone else, Lady Guizhong." She laughed.
In a beautiful field of glaze Lillies, surrounded in their sweet smell as they all bloomed open in the moonlight, kind goodness laid in the hands of her Rex lapis still smiling kindly, blood oozed from her wounds but she seemed to not mind as she uttered her final words. The adepti stood several feet away unable to har her but didn't dare move further in, they knew their archon needed to hear her final words alone. Ganyu cried while on her knees, the only Adeptus who was crying as she grieved there dying goddess, a goddess they all loved. She wanted to run in her arms, to hug the beautiful Guizhogn one last time but Xiao had stopped her by shaking his head and stood beside her as they all saw her bod farewell to this world. She cried, her beautiful tears running down in her pale bloody hands as the watched the goddess turn into her beloved dust now flowing in the wind to Celestia. Ganyu and Xiao first time felt grief as a heavy painful emotion, and over the centuries lost more and more adepti as the archon war cam to close and the city of Liyue was established.
Rex Lapis formed contracts binding the alive adpetii for there life to the region of Liyue, Gnayu stood up as she pledged her contract and walked towards the there new beloved city of Liyue while adepti all took section in the sacred forests of Jeyuen Krast. A cyro vision appeared in her hands as she smiled in painful remembrance and planted the first glaze Lillies in the city of Liyue.
Xiao has been working for 6 centuries and he will probably work till eternity until the day someone kills him. Eternity was small for adeptii though and he too spent it working and overseeing Liyue as its guardian Yaksha, it was nothing new to his time just passing but it was not the same for the others especially a Half – Qilin who felt mortal emotional a bit too strongly. Ganyu was a workaholic in every sense of the world, whenever their paths crossed she was working, he never saw her take rest. The few times of rarity where he did catch her resting, it was mostly sleeping under a tree or spending time with cloud retainer. They also kept far and few between the decades spent in fulfilling their contract. Still, he was the last person to chastise her for working so hard, he too never took a rest after all. It was probably a year ago when e actually slept. Still, he does believe he takes a bit more rest than her. Since the years have passed and the land has started healing, his work has dwindled. The humans grow to prosper and the ages of gods are ending, with that so does the Karma decrease. So he has been resting more in these past decades, in turn, her work increases.
He sits on top of a cliff as he looks down to the newly constructed Yujing terrace, the smell of glaze lillies and silk flowers is the first thing that hits and he feels his mouth twitching in a half-smile. She has really not changed, he thinks as he nods toward madame Ping who smiles at him with the same family smile and turns around t look towards the blue hair maiden that instructs the humans on some mortal work. Things that don't make sense, if he remembers correctly she has been made the secretary of Yuhei pavilion, a body of mortals that overlook the mortal affairs in Liyue. He doesn't care how humans take care of there city as long as they don't trespass on their land or do something foolish that goes against Rex lapis's decree.
Just as he thought of him, the archon himself comes and stands beside him as always his gaze looking far away even when he takes in the Liyue of right now.
"I want her to take rest, Xiao. Even if she is an adeptus, it is far too much work for one person." Though a request for the yaksha, it was the same as an order. He nods but Rex lapis shakes his head, "I want her to do it on her own accord but the more I seem to say the more it backfires. I am out of options so I called you." Xiao looks up towards the golden eyes, Rex lapis let him stare in his eyes and look up towards him. He raises an eyebrow in question, neither of them were that close especially since she moved to live with the humans.
"She has a lot of respect for you so I believe she will listen to your advice and -" he sighs " - won't take it to mean something it is not." Xiao sighs and shakes his head. He doesn't know what happened but since the centuries passed Ganyu has been turning more and more human, just like when she was but a small child. He guesses it's the influence of those mortals. He shakes his head and then nods. He puts away his lance, with Rex lapis behind him, he can always rest. He gets up and jumps down towards her. She immediately smells him and dismisses the humans, who watch him in awe and fear as they disperse quickly, now the terrace is silent and that makes him happy. He hates the human's endless chatter in their hordes.
"Oh, Xiao what made you come here?" She knows his distaste of crowded places so she is quite surprised to see him in the middle of the city.
He nods towards where Rex lapis was and only says "You have been given a break." He doesn't give her a chance to say as he turns around and says "Let's go."
She gets flustered but Xiao would rather move out of the city now, he can feel all those pesky little stares of humans. He doesn't wait for her response and jumps in the wild wind. It takes a few minutes for her to get her wits before she too starts running behind him, without the use of anemo she is slower than him so he makes sure he is good ways from the city before stopping, crossing his hands and waiting for her. She appears in a huff, her face red and she pants as she looks up to him in confusion and a bit of anger. He silently smirks.
"Xiao please explain what is all this? Why did you take me out of the city?" She asks.
"You followed me." He points out, she pouts, he dismisses the voice that calls her cute and instead says, "Rex Lapis ordered me to get you to rest no matter what so that's what I am doing. If you didn't follow me I was just going to take you out of there."
She looks shocked as he straightens up, "I just cant suddenly leave my work. There is so much to do, the new year taxes, then the new implantation of mora as a trading tool and the new trading ports and –" her eyes start swirling and he rolls his eyes, he agrees with what Rex lapis said she is getting obsessed.
"Ugh come on. The city won't collapse just because you didn't show up for work one day." She tries to say something but he doesn't care, he picks up her and jumps. She almost screams before they reach the sky and she has to bit it back. His hands are warm she notes distractingly as he jumps toward Jeyuen Krast and she tries to say something but the wind absorbs her voice and all she can do is wait for them to touch solid ground again.
"Xiao I cant believe you would do that. What if I had moved around, you could have dropped me." He rolls his eyes, she is standing there with her arms crossed and a glare on her face. He is sure it's supposed to be threatening but well – it's not. She looks like a small animal trying to appear big, like a cat or hamster he thinks as he nods along with her scolding and they walk down the stream to Nantaimen. She stops when they reach the blue tree, she doesn't remember but he remembers the archon that was buried under there very well. She sighs, giving up, knowing he was not listening to a word and they make way to the big tree.
She smiles as she hears the rustle of the tress and feels the caress of the tress against her skin. She doesn't want to agree but they were right she was too tired. He sits against the bark of a tree, under the shade and pats the seat beside him. She nods and sits down, prim and proper while he pulls out his lance and rests it against his other shoulder. She takes a deep breathe and rest against the tree, she has heard stories about the tree and truly it still feels alive today, nonetheless, it's a majestic tree. The sum moves and shades fall on the plain, golden flowers come to life and she plucks one, she was not allowed to eat them and they don't smell but they are still beautiful. She holds one as she closes her eyes and takes rest.
He watches her fall into sleep, makes a mental note to wake her up in 5 hours and then to closes his eyes and leans against the tree of the archon they once defeated.
The Washung inn is not far from the harbour but it's a secluded place and that suits Xiao fine. She knows the Yaksha has dwelled in the inn since the very start, she accepts this. It will better comfort for him than the bark of a tree. Naturally, she sets up regular payments for the costs of his living, the owners try to refuse but Ganyu insists she knows how much business is important and she too must follow their rules. She also makes sure to hand the adeptii, especially him some mora every month so they can come down to the city and towns if they feel like it. So far only Xiao comes sometimes to eat his favourite almond tofu or sometimes other dishes that the yakshas once loved. He still honours them in his own little ways.
The inn faces the Dihua Marsh, the place where once a huge field of glaze Lillies bloomed but now centuries later it was a marsh where glaze lillies rarely grew. For a few centuries, she had refused to enter the area but now she frequents there to take care of the lilies that actually thrive there and pick some up and plan them in Yujing terrace. Today she walks under the moonlight, a smile on her face as she bends down to a bloomed lillie and sings a long-forgotten song. She is sure no mortal has ever heard of this song, but it is tradition even if no one observes it anymore. A long-forgotten habit of the goddess of dust. She feels sad as she remembers the kind smile of Guizhong. If only she was here then maybe she wouldn't feel so lonely. She takes a shuddering breathe when the wind bursts around her and she turns to the lone Yaksha standing there.
His face is a hard line as he looks at her with a disapproving glare, gone was the kind Xiao of centuries ago, the more his Karma grows, the more she sees him turning more hardened and pained. She wishes she could save him but she knows she doesn't have that kind of power. She bows a little as she explains,
"I was just pickup up some glaze lillies Xiao."
He shakes his head, "You know the karma of this land has been messed up since I have started living here. You shouldn't be wandering around her at night."
She sighs, she knows he thinks she has grown soft but Ganyu is still strong enough to take care of herself "I can take care of me, Xiao. I have my bow with me."
He doesn't look convinced and before she can argue he just says in finality "Finish picking them up, I'll drop you till the harbour then."
She stares at him and smiles sadly, looks like he is still as kind as he was once, somewhere deep down buried under his pain. She nods and the rest of the night they spent together and Xiao will never mention in but whenever she sang, the voices recced in his head, the night felt calmer than he has felt in ages.
Rex lapis has died and Ganyu wants to curl up and cry like she was a child, like nothing in the world existed anymore and only her grief was there. She couldn't do that though, her contract, her responsibilities won't allow that. She must fulfil her contract to Rex lapis no matter what even if he is gone, gone away from them just like Guizhong. She took a shuddering breath and got back to work. The rite of passing came though and she knew what she must go to say her farewells, she will only get one chance, while his soul remains here she must say her farewells. So Ganyu decides to get glaze lillies, she sighs, her voice breaking. She doesn't wanna say farewells but she continues picking them up and then runs into the traveller she feels a bit more stabilised. She was an adeptus, she could find strength in front of humans. Still, they leave and all that is left is her, only two glaze lilies in her hand and the painful solitude of Dihua marsh. The wind gently rustles against her as Xiao appears before her. His face is contorted in pain as he glares at her,
"Who killed him?" He growls out the question but Ganyu is not scared, she is breaking apart and she wishes he would just say her to shut up and do her work. He does not instead he waits for the answer that they will never know about.
"The fatui, most likely. Only harbingers possess such power." She answers, his lance glows green but Ganyu shakes her head. "You can't Xiao we don't know for sure."
"And what are you suggesting I sit down and talk to them like mortals. Don't be foolish."
She glares back "We are not sitting down, we are trying our best to bring them in but this is a humans affair we can't interfere."
"They killed Rex lapis and you still say it is a humans affair!"
She feels something break, as tears start flowing from her eyes, she hates this, she hates this so much. She too wanted to break her contract, she too wanted to kill that person and yet she can't. The contract binds them and they must follow it no matter what. "Do you think I didn't want to do that very thing? Do you think I don't want to kill the humans myself who dared to hurt Rex lapis but contracts must be followed! Our contract with Rex lapis must always be held onto no matter what!" She screams. That has been the only thing that has been keeping her sane these past few days, her contract, there contract, Guizhong wishes to always protect the fragile humans that she loved the most.
He stares at her, his glare softening as he takes a step near her and pulls her in, letting her cry out on his shoulder. "We will find him, Xiao, we will. We too, people of Liyue won't let them get away." He nods and looks at the moon illuminating the marsh, he remembers the words of the bygone goddess. A goddess that was too kind for there world,
'I want to protect those fragile creatures from everything. They can so easily be blown away, just like dust I want us to protect them.'
They must always uphold there contract with Rex lapis.
She smiled as she snuggles near him, he pulls her, his warm arms wrapped around her as she settles comfortably and falls to sleep. The tree is well hidden but when a certain funeral parlour consultant catches them Xiao smiles slightly and asks him to be silent. The man, now a mortal closes his eyes in peace and nods as he walks away from the scene. Xiao watches her sleep, today too he had all but kidnapped her away to make her rest for the day and he remembers seeing the little smirk on the Qixing who had only asked him to bring her back before 8.
He gruffs, they were not her parents.
He looks up at the green surrounding them and the sun. The eternity hasn't passed but it seems that it won't be so lonely as they had first thought.

Gentle Rain
Summary -  Ganyu and Xiao take much-needed rest together from there respective work in gentle rain falling in Liyue.
You can support me at Ko-fi or commission me.
Rain gently falls from the skies in Liyue today as the people still go on with there usual work. Ganyu stretches her hands tightly as she feels her muscles pop and sighs in relief, today's work was finally done and it was done earlier which made her proud. It has been months since Rex Lapis has descended and Liyue was handed over to the humans by the adepti. Today the day was slow and pale, the rain has been gently falling since the morning, it was not too hard nor too slow to call it just a shower. This was proper rain, it did not disturb people though as they all just took their umbrellas and headed out their usual work, the sea was calm too. Still, Ganyu as one of the adeptii, headed out the harbour and checked on everything and checked with the ships out in the sea. Things were fine and now she finally decided she will take a break. She has a free day till late evening before new work shows up for tomorrow and she will have to start working on them. She twirls her umbrella slightly as she decides to head out of Liyue Harbor.
She could go to Jeyuen Krast, but she wanted to hear the earth, so she instead headed to Tianheng mountain and walked around before she came upon the ruins and sighed as she looked upon the top. She remembered Skybracer who had raised the mountain, a story she had heard from Cloud retainer, she was still quite young at that time. In the ages of adeptii she was still quite young, a teenager people would call her, but in human ages, she too has lived long as any other adeptus. She sighed, long lives did not mean invincibility humans seem to think, eternity was long loneliness and constant changes. She was one of the few adeptii who felt that loneliness more than the others, being a half-adepti meant she felt human emotions more strongly than the other adeptus. Still, they too would one day feel lonely the more changes they witnessed; she knew that Cloud retainer had become saddened since Rex lapis had fallen. She remembered the Yaksha who too must be grieving Rex Lapis even now, she more than anyone knew how much loyal and important Rex Lapis was to Xiao.
She walked down the stairs as she closed her eyes and heard nature, the pitter-patter of rain, the crunch of soil on her heel, the chirps of birds hiding from the rain and the gentle rustling of leaves as they swayed in the wind. A Qilin loved nature, she too loved the sounds of nature and always head out to hear it whenever she could. She hit the last step when she heard a gurgled scream from a bit far away, worried she made her way. As she came across the canopy of trees there stood a lone Yaksha, his jade lance in his hand as he swiped it against the throat of another beast, and blood splattered on his clothes, he did not seem to mind though. She stood there silent as she watched the scene unfold in front of her, Xiao fulfilled his contract yet another day as he slew the maddened beasts and cut the abyss mage down that tried to control them, the blood was slowly washed from his clothes and yet to show his nature some stuck to his clothes as he straightened his lance and finally turned to her.
Hard golden eyes met gentle pink eyes and she tried to smile gently as he swiped his mouth and made way to her. He did not have any umbrellas it seems, though the rain did not bother him as he stopped one foot away from her and asked her,
"What are you doing here Ganyu?" His voice seemed gentle a surprise for him as he seemed genuinely curious.
She smiled and twirled her umbrella, a bit proud of herself, "I was able to quickly finish work for today. So, I decided to have a bit of walk."
"You didn't head to Cloud retainer?" Naturally, one would think, when she got the scarce free time, she would straight go to meet her adopted mother.
"I plan to go after walking a bit." She looked up to the grey skin with rain, "Today seemed a good day to hear the sounds of earth."
Like any other adeptii, he knew how Qilin loved nature and always tried to keep themselves in sync with it. He nodded and looked back to his bloody scene, knowing well that disturbed her walk. Normally Xiao would just teleport to where his job took him to slay more beasts but this time, considering the weather he sighs and says instead.
"I will clean it up for you, the blood must be irritating to smell."
She was surprised as she took him in and widened her smile, he was being kind today. A rare sight from the Yaksha but a sight heavily sought out. She gladly offered to help and they both used their powers to wash away the blood and pick up the materials the beasts left, and he gave it to her, explaining.
"I do not need them."
She seemed a bit worried but nodded, she knew a pure adeptus do not need artifacts or weapon refinement to make themselves stronger, his adeptii arts were good for that. She took them and thanked them, deciding on giving it to the traveller who always seemed to be running low on mora when they refined their weapons and artifacts. He saw as she put those away and then turned to him to ask,
"Where are you heading to now?"
He could feel some disturbance in the Guyun forest but right now he feels a bit at peace. The voices are low, almost ignorable as he felt his pain be calmed, the kind he has not felt in a long time. He took into the pink eyes her and decided, it is not like he does not have eternity to follow his contract. He was sure Rex Lapis would encourage him to take a bit of respite from his duties. He makes his decision, closes his eyes, and then nods towards the canopy.
"You wanted to hear the sounds of nature, right?"
She was shocked as she stared at him waiting for him to disappear in the gust of wind, but he did not. He stood there, his golden eyes turning flat as he stared back at her. She blinked and her face brightened up as she smiled gently and nodded quickly. They both found a good spot and sat down, near but far enough to move their limbs. She stretched her arms and pull out the pops in her neck and sighed in relief. He watched her as he gently shakes his head, her muscles were far too tense.
"You work too much." He gently scolded her, and she sheepishly looked away, she knew she did, more than anyone.
"You too seemed to be injured today." She noticed the bruises and scratches on him oozing slightly blood. She knew rest would heal his wounds but she still pulled out a handkerchief and gently wiped the wounds and called her cyro powers to close them and make sure none of them was too big. He only hissed slightly and let her do her work, it reminds him of when she was younger and treated all their wounds with the gentle goddess of dust during the archon war. She closes his wounds and assessed him to be safe and rests back on the tree.
They both do not talk as she closes her eyes and immediately falls asleep, he notes her small snores and put his head in one arm as he rests his lance against his arm and leans on the tree. He does not close his eyes; he was the vigilant yaksha, but he let her noises and the noise of earth take over the low voices in his head. They rest for a bit, a respite from there eternal contract.
