Do you have any stories or records of non-kobolds treating kobolds very nicely? Could really use some today... yip...

Let’s see, I did some digging through my records, here’s what I could find!

I have accounts of one town where a dragon offered a portion of its own hoard to the local village to throw a hatch-day parade party for their kobold! The village accepted, and the festivities were so wonderful and the kobold so kind that it became a yearly tradition of the town’s people to celebrate that kobold’s hatch day every year (anyone who thinks kobolds are evil creatures by default has obviously never seen one celebrating their hatch day)

Another tells of a time a dragon’s largest most prized gem was stolen, but when the jewel was returned to the thieves’ stash, it hatched, and a baby kobold emerged! They bundled the hatchling up in the nearest blanket, set off, and returned it to the dragon. The dragon was still ready to burn the thieves’ hideout to cinders regardless, but to the dragon’s surprise —as well as the surprise of the thieves upon returning to their stash— THEIR largest and most prized gem had been stolen by the hatchling, hidden away in its blanket while being bundled up. If you ever hear of the thieves guild that pays homage to a kobold hatchling to increase their luck, that’s them!

And for the final story, I’d like to share about a very renowned gnome jeweler! Gnomes, for those who didn’t know, have a history with a lot of bad blood with kobolds, starting all the way back with two of our oldest deities. Tensions have mostly been resolved (like, we’re both short statured folk who tinker and like shiny things! There’s a LOT of common ground!) but this story comes from a time where gnomes and kobolds did not get along, not even slightly.

There was once a fledgling gnome jeweler who, despite the reputation of gnomes, did not have much success when it came to craft. She mostly worked with humans who couldn’t tell the difference, but one day, got commissioned by a mysterious group of short cloaked strangers for the largest order she had ever been tasked with. She worked her hardest to complete the order, but due to the massive amount of jewelry requested, corners had to be cut in order to complete it on time. She was terrified; these were pieces that even a human would be able to tell were NOT that high quality. But when she shakily handed them to her patrons, they began… eating them??? Their hoods fell, and before her were at least 15 kobolds! The kobolds all looked at her with happy faces and placed another order for more of the same. She laughed and laughed (gnomes are very commonly fond of good humor), and she has since become quite popular with kobolds for good shiny hand-crafted eats!

Symbolically, a kobold's tail often represents freedom of expression and self actualization! Even if our tails can be an inconvenience when they start wagging or lashing automatically, it's considered something to be embraced! That's your true self talking when your tail starts moving!

I was trying to make a really dumb post in photoshop that required a font I didn't have to edit some text and BY THE DIVINES downloading a font is THIRTY GOLD?!?!??!?!?

Your tiny kobold body can (and DOES) contain volumes that those who judge you by the pictures in their BS rule books will never understand the true beauty of. You are you… despite the external, despite flawed preconceptions, despite bogus classifications, despite everything… and you are beautiful for it.

Be who you are, adventurer. Who YOU have found you are, not what they define you as. They try to tie you down and box you in to make your existence easier to understand, easier to bias against, but YOU DON’T OWE THAT TO THEM!!!! The world " 'bold " as reference to a kobold started as derogatory name-calling used by gnomes, but was thankfully reclaimed hundreds of years ago when 'bolds were no longer classified as specifically evil creatures!

Lots of kobolds are archivists in their own little ways. Really all they have to do is call their hoard "their archives" and there you have it!

I wish I could make myself smaller in the games that I play. As a kobold I am just about 3 feet tall (which is actually taller than most kobolds), but all the fun humie games have you playing at 5-6 feet tall.

I like being little!!! I like looking up at people to talk to them! I like getting into places the game would require you to crouch for without crouching!

Ah yes! So, votive as a word is in reference to giving worship or offering to a god! When I say “my votive,” I am referring to a specific dragon that I work for / belong to, who is my “chosen” above all others! I serve MANY dragons (and others!) now a days, so saying “my dragon” could mean any of the at least 5 that I currently serve!

I also call them my votive in respect to their request that I keep them anonymous on this blog. They’re content just watching what their favorite kobold gets up to and posts about from the sidelines, they don’t want to be publicly involved 🙏☺️
