Vmin analysis - “Friends”

Ok everyone, so after years of Taehyung trying and us waiting we finally got a Vmin duet. An official one that is there for the whole world and every ARMY to hear, and it is way more than I was hoping for. I wasn’t prepared.

It’s more or less Vmin sharing inside jokes, moments and love with each other that only them truly understand and with a lot of references probably too few ARMY even notice. This is the first time I feel a BTS song is not for the fans, but for them, and that too says a lot about Vmin’s bond as soulmates. I am just really happy for them, and still can’t fully grasp they actually did this.

The song itself is fun and hearing their voices together is so good, I really hope we get to see them perform this at concert and singing “You are my soulmate“ together. I think this year is truly shaping up to be one of the best Vmin years ever, and that says a lot.

So let’s talk about 친구 (Chingu, meaning same age friend in Korean)! This is my analysis of the song and it’s references and possible connections to other Vmin songs. I talked about my hopes in an ask right as we learned Friends really was a song with Vmin, partly written and produced by Jimin, but this is way better than anything I could have guessed. I even managed to predict a few things they talk about (stars, promise, winter etc.) which says a lot. Because when you can predict something based on old things, it also makes it more likely to be intentional.

I really just hoped for some small clues to add to my various earlier song theories, but with this song and the lyrics they basically said “No need to look for clues, we’re just going to put everything here for you to see so you don’t have to try and look so hard.”

If you aren’t familiar with my earlier song theories I think you might want to read those too just to grasp how big this really is. I will definitely bring up some new connections in this analysis, but only with ‘Friends’ in connection to other songs or things.
