Cami’s death was meaningless and avoidable
We were told to hang in there and see how the story played out, because Cami’s death would have purpose…yet the season is over and it’s even more idiotic than it was before.
If Cami’s death was to showcase that the bite is deadly and there’s no cure, it was literally overkill. We already had (the episode before) Finn dying from the very same thing. The family already lost someone they loved, and the bite killing an original is much more terrifying than killing a newbie vamp. Adding Cami’s death in was just excessive and there for shock value. Nothing more.
I have not watched the finale, but I did see a clip of the end, and it made me even more irritated. Freya suddenly remembers she can put them all in a sleep until they find a cure, but conveniently forgot it when they had hours sitting around brainstorming on how to save Cami’s life.
And now as they’re all sleeping, finding the cure is now in Hayley’s hands.Can someone explain to me why Cami couldn’t be with Hayley? They had been establishing a dynamic between the two where Hayley was mentoring Cami, meanwhile Cami was using her intelligence and dark objects to protect herself. Hayley was brawns, Cami was brains. This was a perfect team, and this would have developed a strong female friendship that this show so clearly lacks.
It’s just so frustrating to see Cami’s character discarded when everything she was fit so perfectly into the search for a cure storyline. She had the brains, she the means, she had the motive, and she had the friendship with Hayley. The story practically writes itself but the writers said, “fuck it, we need to kill a chick so people will be surprised. Even better if Klaus can have one single tear running down his cheek!”
It’s lazy, unimaginative storytelling, and the forced shock value makes me feel like they have no idea what they’re doing.

What did you think of Cami's quote on her headstone in 3x21?!
Well, Anon, I liked it alot. I believe it was a fitting tribute to the person she was and the characterhe loved. Camille O’Connell was always the symbol of light and humanity, andwhat embodies those two concepts better than love? It was through love that herlight shone brighter and that she was able to see the best in others and helpedthem do so as well. It was through and because of love that she fought forthose who couldn’t protect themselves and was the moral compass of the show. Itwas through love that she did not take the easy road, but the right one.Camille O’Connell was love in its purest, most beautiful form.
Furthermore, I believe this was Klaus Mikaelson’s own homage toher, which just makes me love it even more. If you think about it, since shehad no family left, Klaus was the closest to her and probably the one who wouldbe asked to decide what to write in her headstone. And he chose a quote about love. Morethan that, he chose a quote about the eternity and strength of love.
First of all, this is a direct and pretty obvious call back tohis promise of making her immortal. “Love never ends.” If he keeps her,her light and love, with him forever, then she will have never really left himor any of those who loved her. She lives on through him, and so does heressence; so does her love.
But more than that, this is Klaus making her yet anotherpromise: that he will be the man she wanted him to be, that he will remember heis loved and that he has to allow himself to love as well, just like she toldhim to. If there was any way to bring Cami back, believe me, Klaus wouldn’tthink twice no matter the personal cost. Since he knows there isn’t, he ismaking her eternal in every way he can think of. Through his own life andactions, through his light, and through his love for her. Cami’s headstonequote is about love because that is what defined her, and that is what shepassed on to every single person around her, including him.
The way she loved allowedher to forgive like no other, have faith in the ones everyone else saw asmonsters, hope and trust that they could be redeemed and endure all kinds ofsuffering for those she cared about. It was part of who she was, and it is howKlaus wants her to be remembered. Like the best version of herself, the one shewould be proud of and who she always wanted to be. It was the only version hesaw every time he looked into her eyes.

I do ship Haylijah, don’t get me wrong, but I fucking hate that they get to be happy while Klaus and Kol are left heartbroken. Elijah has been making all these poor choices and he gets the girl. Klaus had been trying to be better, and he gets the short end of the stick. Kol has done nothing and the ancestors make him kill his girlfriend. This is bullish logic.
And I swear if something happens to Klaus because Marcel and Vincent are out for revenge, I will lose it. Klaus was the only one telling them to find another way to stop Lucian. This is Elijah and Freya’s mess and if try get off the hook while Klaus suffers I will be rioting.
