At around 10pm on July 30, 2016, Allen Ivanov arrived at a house party in Mukilteo, Washington, at which he knew his ex girlfriend, Anna Bui, was in attendance. After first observing the party, Ivanov retrieved his rifle. Upon returning, he shot dead 3 people, including Bui, and wounded another.
Ivanov ran out of ammunition and fled, only to be arrested 90 minutes later. He confessed to the shootings, claiming them to have been accidental as he was not thinking straight.
After first pleading not guilty to all charges, Ivanov plead guilty to the killings on December 19, 2016. He was sentenced to life imprisonment on January 12, 2017.
