Update - Status

Sorry that there have been no updates! Between moving across the country, finding a new job almost immediately, looking for a permanent home and having emergency surgery last week, working on the layouts has been kind of on the back-burner.

Am hoping to get around to working on all of the designs next week and getting them out to our photographers for input. At that time, I will also be checking on those who did not turn in photos to see if they are still participating or looking for pinch-hitters.

Photographers Needed - Huntington NY & Paris!!

There is a need for two photography volunteers for the June 26th, Huntingon NY show at The Paramount, as well as four photography volunteers for the show in Paris, France--we would really like to include both of these shows in the Photo Book for Darren! As Paris is the only show in Europe that he is doing, we are planning for four pages to be devoted to the show in order to allow four fans to participate.

Please review the following requirements before volunteering. When contacting us, please remember to include your email address!

All contributing photographers will have a say in the final photos chosen for their page, and will have a chance to see the page, and discuss, prior to publishing.

The following are recommendations for photos that should be included in your submissions. Page layouts will vary, as can the number of photos. Every page should have at least 4 photos. Currently, we are planning on two-pages per venue, one photographer per page. Number of photos will depend on (1) the number of photos submitted by the photographer (their choice), and (2) what photos stand out as the best.

Photo resolution requirements: At least 2000 x 1600 resolution, no less than 3 megapixels, JPG or JPEG only, please.

Recommendations for photographers:

At least one (1) photo of Darren performing. Feel free to submit two (2) if you cannot decide which you like best.

At least one (1) photo of the audience. Be as creative as you want! Take a photo of the audience before two hours of dancing, and after. Go JJ Abrams and get some lens flares in there! Have fun with it!

One (1) photo of the venue. Outside or inside, photographer’s choice. We just want a feel of the venue, how it might differ from others, and something that might spark a memory for Darren of that particular tour date!

The most important piece—at least one (1) photo personal to the photographer’s experience. Did you meet up with a bunch of Tumblr friends? Did you go to dinner together first? Did you drive and stop at some crazy tourist attraction? Did you meet Darren? Did you dress up? Wear a ton of Darren/Starkid/Glee swag? Make this photo(s) count as a way to express to Darren that little something that makes this more than just a concert experience.

Other. We are open to fun, creative ideas if you have them! Just remember: you don’t want to clutter your page too much!

Additionally, photographers will be asked to submit a quote as well along with their name as they want it credited on the page. More information will be coming on that!

Photographers – What We’re Looking For

Thank you to everyone who has already contacted us to sign up for a venue! We appreciate the enthusiasm! :D An official post will be made Monday for any further spots we need to fill, as well as a list of who will be covering each venue.

Listen Up: Thank you, Darren! The DC Tour PhotoBook Project

So this idea came to me when I first heard about the tour from Mrs. Criss, and she said it was a ‘thank you’ from Darren to his fans. I wanted to put together some kind of ‘thank you’ from the fans to Darren, and I thought what better way to do that than to show Darren how much his touring means to us? Not just the chance to see him, but the chance to see the friends we’ve made through this fandom; the chance to do crazy things like three-day road trips from venue to venue, and flying across country to get together with a bunch of Tumblr friends for a 24-hour Darren-centric party. Darren has given us more than just himself, his music, his talent and his love—he’s given us each other, and I want to give him a little glimpse of that.

The main project is this: I want to put together a photobook (that I’ll have printed up professionally, all nice and pretty) that documents his tour from the eyes of his fans at each of the 16 tour dates. Through the help of volunteers willing to submit them, photos will be included on 1-2 pages from each show (of Darren, of the audience, of the venue, of the photographer and their group of friends), and quotes will be scattered throughout the book about the shows/experiences, etc., very much like a yearbook! Each fan who submits photos for use will be credited on the page that includes their photos, and each quote will be credited as well. After it is printed, I will get a copy to Darren.

If you would like to help out, please spread the word! Follow ListenUpPhotoBook. Reblog as much as you can! Next week I will begin asking for about 3 volunteers per tour date to submit photos. I am also looking for artwork to be used on the cover of this, so if anyone knows of an artist who would be willing to contribute, please contact me! I have other ideas for things I would like to do as well, but I’m going to need some assistance first. Details will be forthcoming!

I hope this is something people want to help out with! I really, really want to include every tour date, with as much fan contribution as possible so that Darren will have a record of what something like a 16-date tour means to us. :)
