Heya! I just wanted to say I stumbled upon your From the Stars fic on AO3 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Your style is delightful and poetic at times and though I know you took a hiatus from the writing, I felt I should express the joy it brought me to read each chapter and watch everything develop and unfold. Especially as you challenged yourself to juggle more of the cast and keep your later chapters parallel to the show. I hope your hiatus has been treating you well and have a wonderful day!

With each year that passes, I am more me than I’ve ever been.
My sides protest against a sudden movement. They didn’t do that before, but now it would be a concern if they did otherwise. Others say it should be a concern now, and not to wait to make repairs. There is still time.
I am still me.
Wave after wave has me shuddering and dizzy. I can hold out. My hull has been reinforced more times than I can count. I know when repairs will be necessary, and that time is not now.
I am still me.
Lightning flashes, illuminating my mast standing defiant against the power of the storm. This mast is new, and has yet to witness nature’s wrath.
I am still me.
The crew in my hold cower in fear. I recognize few of them, but they are mine to ferry and protect. Sanctuary will be found, I promise.
I am still me.
Grizzled and hardy, my captain stands on deck, gnarled hands clutching at my helm. Her knuckles are as pale as her gritted teeth. We have been through worse. We will survive this, too.
I am still me.
At last, the winds tire themselves. The waves retreat. The sun advances through the clouds. My crew cautiously poke their heads above my deck like spring flowers. Exhausted, they embrace each other and cheer for their victory over the elements. My captain rubs her hands on my bow as thanks.
I am still me.
Fundamentally, I am a different ship than I was when I set out upon this journey. If you were to compare me to who I was then versus who I am now, would you know we were one and the same?
I would.
With each passing year, I am more me than I’ve ever been.
