Omg I’d love to hear more about how you think Revachol treats Harry is fascinating but not good. I think that’s a really interesting nuance, especially since I mostly see La Revacholiere posted about in a positive light.
*rubs hands* Ok SO,
I don't know if Harry's connection to Revachol's genius loci is the source of all of his weird psychic goings on, or if it's just one manifestation of it. But even if it's the latter... that's plenty enough to drive a man mad.
On the one hand it is very sweet and romantic. "You're a messed up man and the city is a messed up city but you love it and it loves you back! Not metaphorically either. It truly, actually loves you back!" And yes that is wonderful and encouraging.
But it's rarely good for mortals to be loved by a god.
Revachol is aware of her upcoming destruction and is terrified of it. And she puts the burden of avoiding that future entirely on Harry. One man. Burdened with the lives of millions and their aggregate semidivine embodiment. She then constantly presses down on that burden by giving Harry flashes of the daily goings on of the people living within her. Giving identities and faces to those people Harry is singlehandedly tasked with saving. Millions of souls clutching at him. Demanding to be loved back. Demanding to be saved.
No pressure or anything.
Paradoxically, I see a parallel between how Revachol views Harry and how Harry views/viewed Dora. Revachol is the god here, but she puts Harry on the pedestal of Saviour. With the RCM and Kim's help, sure, but Harry is still the one in the spotlight. It's you. It's all about you. You have to save me. Stay with me. I will not let you leave (die). Harry then went and did the same to Dora. Single minded focus on how her leaving him was an impossibility of reality and she will come back because she must.
Harry deifies Dora, Revachol deifies Harry.
Revachol may love Harry and help him out. But she broke him in the first place.
anyone else thinking about "homura i could never do that to you, im too weak to make a strong person like you cry"? anyone else thinking abotu that? anyone else thinking
