My favorite charity event is back and I got to pick up the Elsa mantle yet again 💜 I had to take the dress in quite a lot, and sadly ditch my usual Arda for a lighter alternative to spare my neck a bit of suffering 😩 The weather was great, and so many families in need were fed!

I think I was waiting on better pics of her, but sadly I wasn’t able to attend MY-Con to get them (hubby had to work 😭) So here’s at least a preview of my Greater Lord Rukkhadevata from when I wore her for TBCC. I’ll wear her again in the future to get some better photos. The costume deserves it tbh!

Had a great time at Metrocon on Saturday, despite running on zero sleep. I had so much more planned for my “bone throne” for the last minute fem!Sukuna from JJK that I threw together as fast as possible, but sadly, like 70% of what I made didn’t even get implemented into this first run. Regardless that I was feeling bummed about having to settle for the very unfinished version of my initial vision, the response I got from others was frankly surprisingly positive. All day I had people complementing my costume & makeup, but I was also repeatedly *specifically* praised for incorporating my wheelchair as a throne for the “[Queen] of Curses”.
It’s Disability Pride Month, so I felt like it was the perfect time to FINALLY start incorporating my chair into my cosplays. I just wish I’d been able to actually complete the vision I had in mind. I *will* be finishing it up and breaking this costume out again (with my hubby joining me as my Itadori), with all the literal HUNDREDS of plastic bones I hand painted for this project included, which are still sitting in a pile of my craft mess as of right now 🫠

I made this tutorial a few years ago on how I made a fireball prop for my Caleb cosplay. This tutorial has gone really far and I'm super proud of it. I love seeing these out in the wild and it's by far not the only way to do this, it's just the way that worked for me and I wanted to share it. Enjoy and happy making.

Materials:
Hot glue sticks
LED tea light
Parchment paper or Silicone baking sheet
Iron and Ironing board
Step 1:
Take 3-4 sticks of hot glue, place them in the center, and sandwich them between two sheets of parchment paper.
Step 2:
Using the iron on the highest setting, set it on top of the hot glue sticks and keep heat until the hot glue is melted and homogeneous. Use the iron to flatten out the glue into a thin sheet. Let cool.
Step 3:
While the hot glue sheet is warm to the touch, but not hot, separate the upper and lower sheets. This took me some trial and error, but yields more textured sheets in the end. Let the glue finish cooling and remove from the parchment paper.
Step 4:
Start ripping apart the whole sheets. You need a little bit of force, but it leaves you with some beautiful organic edges. If you want a more crystallized look try using scissors to cut the edges (I have yet to try this, but it could be cool).
Step 5:
Once you have a good amount of scales, start hot gluing them to the tea light from top to bottom until you have the desired size and shape.

This was my first Faire with a wheelchair and HO BOY talk about quality of life changes 😩👌🏻 Not being in miserable pain all day was a total game-changer. I also finally got to break out my Holy Clothing Demeter dress, which I bought when it was in the limited Mystic Purple color. It ended up going so well with the headdress I picked up at the Curiosities & Oddities Expo earlier in the month…
