I have my gripes with FFXIV but I have to admit the decision to use a longsword as the substitute for a crucifix when making Ishgard's French Catholic aesthetic was artistically fucking brilliant and I still haven't recovered from it almost a decade later.

But I'll go first.

I think Lyse suffers as a character because of Papalymo's death. As Yda she had great banter with him. In Stormblood, her counterpart Hien has Yugiri and Gosetsu to rely on for character growth. Lyse doesn't have anyone like Papalymo again after he dies, and I think it works to her detriment for growth.

My hottest take about Heavensward I guess is that Haurchefant should have come on the Dravanian road trip. For being such a major character in HW we get to do surprisingly little with him until the very end. Just imagine: Ysayle like "I will expose the truth and tear down the Holy See," and Estinien all "I'M GONNA STAB NIDHOGG SEVENTY-SEVEN TIMES" and Haurchefant in the middle like, "Is it not a sign of Halone's blessing that we are here together, comrades all, working for the good of Ishgard!! 😊😊😊" He'd have been so proud of Alphinaud for building his little campfire. And he'd have fucking loved the moogles.

Butterflies. Specifically, the Blue Morpho veritiy. After Endwalker it was pretty clear the main theme for the Warrior of Light was Hope. Elpis is literally greek for hope. The Elpis flower you carry is the physical representation of Hope. And in most depictions of the Myth of Pandora (whose name I am using for my WoL's Azem) Hope is a butterfly.

So yeah, butterflies and hope.
