Time Travel in Toledo, Tuesday...🔙 * Here is a cabinet card portrait of Mr. William B. Moorhead ✨️that was once on display at the Ford Post Number 14 of the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.). * The Ford Post was established in Toledo in 1867 as an organization for Union veterans of the American Civil War. * 💥William B. Moorhead was born on 18 Sept 1838 in Portage Township, Hancock, Ohio to Andrew Moorhead and Letitia Bell. He joined the military on 25 Jul 1865 in Toledo, Ohio. He was a member of the 21st Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. He served as a Corporal in Company "F". He was also an elder in Eastminster Presbyterian Church and was honored with the title of elder emeritus for his long service. After the military, William worked as a farm laborer. * ⛪️On 19 Sept 1867, William married Carrie V. Strother in Hancock, Ohio. William and Caroline had four children, Cora, born abt 1869; Waldo, born abt 1871; Irving, born abt 1873; and Bertha L. (Culp) born abt 1877. * William died on 9 Jul 1936 in Toledo, Ohio. He was the oldest Toledo veteran, 🪖at the age of 98 years old. The funeral for William was held in Parks funeral home, Jefferson Avenue, Toledo, Ohio. Way 🔙 Wednesday * In 1906, Fire Station #16 was constructed on the corner of Detroit and Woodland Avenues in Toledo, Ohio. * A horse-drawn carriage 🐎 stands at rest next to the Station. * 🚒Fire Station #16 served at this location until 9 Oct 1979, when the station was moved around the corner to 1301 Dorr Street, where it still operates today. * The Fire 👨‍🚒 Chief in 1906 was William F.
