Genderlect Theory
I choose the film Mulan by Walt Disney as an example of a Genderlect theory. Mulan often talks in private with Mushu, to convey her thoughts about her training or her worries of being caught as a female disgusing as a soldier for her father sake, for example. While Shang, as the head army leader in the camp was giving an order to the men to take an arrow from the top pole as part of their training, in which at least one man who succeed it can prove him that they are ready to go for war. This two scenes have prove Tannen's claim where she stated, women talks more in than men in private conversation, while men are much more suitbale in public speaking environment; where they tend to search the establishment of 'one-up' position.
In one of the scene, Yao, Ling and Chein-Po were joking around constantly and there was also one part where they challenge among themselves to see who is the strongest. Tannen noted that compare to women, the men tell more stories by joking; which to them is the most masculine way to achieve status, one of the way is like competing one another via 'can-you-top-this?'. Another way for the men to tell their stories, Tannen claimed that the men are the heroes in their stories. This is seen in Mulan, where Chi-Fu was telling how proud he was as being one of the Emperor's close advisor; to him, possessing that status is considered as one of the higly achievement at that time. In comparison to the women, Tannen stated that the way women tell their stories is by talking about others. In one of the muscial scene in Mulan, there was a part where when Mulan was getting ready for her appointment with the matchmakers, few of the women were mentioning how scary the matchmaker is by stating "Scarier than the undertaker. We are meeting our matchmaker". Tannen further mentioned that "woman is a character in her own narrative", which she meant was women would describe themselves silly in their own stories rather than how men would be the heroes in theirs.

Hypodermic Needle Theory
Because Filipinos have been drowning in a sea of fake accounts, propaganda, and disinformation in the last 3 years, a United States probe linking the Russians to these techniques raises the question of whether local propagandists and PR practitioners received similar advice from kindred spirits in the Kremlin. Or were they just a step ahead of the game?
In indicting the Russians last February, US special counsel Robert Mueller said their massive online attacks were meant to mobilize support for then presidential candidate Donald Trump and "sow discord in the U.S. political system, including the 2016 U.S. presidential election."
The Russians continued to deploy the same strategies – like the use of sock puppets, fake news, and the creation of targeted and hateful content – even after Trump got elected, with the strategic goal to divide Americans.
These have been in place in the Philippines since 2015 as well.
Why does this matter? Russia, a veteran in information warfare, employs this strategy to weaken the social cohesion and political systems of other countries.
The use of the same techniques in the Philippines achieves the same purpose of widening and complicating social divisions, sowing hate, influencing political processes, and exacerbating deep-seated tensions arising from unresolved conflicts in the last 4 decades.

Expectancy Violation Theory
As we can see from the advertisement, what we usually see in a commercial either on television or in social media, we expect that their taco is full of their recipes and overload with all of the spices. But once you bought it fron their store, the reality is that its not that big and full of spices compared on the advertisement that we actually see.

Agenda Setting Theory
This theory states that the media is so powerful, it makes you think about, talk about, and care about something that is not that important. Media distracts you of what really is important.
Example: the headline of a newspaper:

Cultivation Theory
I like to use the famous Warner Brothers cartoon Roadrunner as an example. Even though it is not as violent as many programs, it is directed towards a younger audience. The plot of every episode is that Wile E. Coyote attempts to catch his rival, the roadrunner. Wile E. sets up elaborate traps, however, they always backfire and the coyote gets injured as a violent result of his malicious plots. This television program never portrays the consequences of the bodily harm Wile E. Coyote endures: injuries, death, etc. After each mishap, even after falling from mountains or getting shot by multiple bullets, Wile E. snaps back to life. Some say that The Roadrunner is just a simple cat-chase-mouse program that is entertainment for children. On the flip side, proponents of the Cultivation Theory would suggest that this program could engrain the notion that violence is a viable solution to problems and that it has zero negative consequences. A child may think, “If Wile E. can get shot and still survive, maybe my friends can get shot and survive too.”
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, a child will see an estimated 10,000 acts of violence per year on television. By the time that same child graduates from high school, he or she will have witnessed 18,000 violent deaths on television. (Source: PBSkids.org)
This glorification of violence can send impressionable minds the notion that violence is a good way to solve problems.

Relational Dialectics Theory
Relational Dialectics is the theory where in between of any relationships, there are struggles and tensions that they will be facing. For example this series called "Halik". Lino caught Jade and Ace kissing. In that very moment Lino finds out that Jade is cheating on him. It is an example of Relational Dialectics because it is an issue within a relationship that needs to be resolve.

Uses and Gratification Theory
The Uses and Gratification Theory is about the audience being responsible on how they use media to satisfy their own needs. In the climax part of the series "The Black Mirror episode: Shut and Dance" shows the need of the people to media. In this scene, Kenny search for the picture of a girl. This scene portrays how media satisfies Kenny and later on he suffered from the consequences that he have done for Kenny is responsible for that.
