May 2016 Events!
Our spring hours, as of May 5th, are Thursdays through Sundays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (We are closed on Sunday May 1st.) We will be switching to our full-time hours as of Victoria Day Weekend (May 23rd): Mondays Through Thursdays from 10-5; Fridays and Saturdays from 10-6: and Sundays from 11-5.
Our online store is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we’ll be putting orders through once a week in the new year. As always, call us at 902-634-4015 or email us at [email protected] at any time if you have any questions!
Book Clubs!
We’ve had our book clubs for May already - they’re the first Friday of the month usually. Come by for our next book club on Friday, June 3rd: 4:30 for the Teen Book Club and 7:00 for the Lexicon Book Club. Our Teen Book Club pick for June is a “potluck” pick: bring whatever book has caught your fancy (or not). Our June Lexicon Books pick is The Night Stages by Jane Urquhart. See you on June 3rd!
Christy Ann Conlin & Ian Colford Launches
Saturday May 21st, 6:00 p.m.
We are delighted to have Christy Ann Conlin launching her new novel The Memento (Doubleday Canada,) and Ian Colford launching his new novel Perfect World (Freehand Books). You won’t want to miss this wonderful, and highly acclaimed, duo!
A portion of the proceeds from books sold at the event will go towards relief efforts in Fort McMurray.

Friday, May 27th, 7 p.m.
Join us as local poet (and Lexicon Books co-owner!) Alice Burdick launches her new book of poetry, Book of Short Sentences (Mansfield Press), accompanied by the cellist Norm Adams of suddenlyLISTEN Music. Join us at Lexicon Books for the second annual Authors for Indies day, where local authors visit their local independent bookstores and talk books with customers and visitors! This year we’re excited to have Kate Inglis, whose brand new book If I Were a Zombie (Nimbus) is freshly published this month, along with award-winning author and educator Sylvia Gunnery. We may have some other folks dropping in as well. A Gala Evening with Lawrence Hill
Saturday, December 12th, 7 p.m. at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, Bluenose Drive, Lunenburg
Lexicon Books is proud to be the official bookseller at this fundraising event in support of South Shore Public Libraries.
Lawrence Hill, author of Book of Negroes, will spend the evening sharing his thoughts about his life and insights into his latest novel The Illegal.  The evening will be catered by The Old Fish Factory. Local merchants including wine and spirits makers Petite Riviere Winery and Ironworks, will be there with products to sample and Lexicon Books of Lunenburg will have copies of all Mr. Hill’s novels to purchase for signing.
Please join us for the evening to munch and mingle, listen to Lawrence Hill, and support South Shore Public Libraries projects.

Christmas in Lunenburg - Shopping Under the Stars
We are happy to be extending our hours on the Fridays leading up to Christmas, as well as the days just before Christmas. On these evenings, we are happy to offer tax-free shopping from 6-8 p.m.! Come by and choose from our great selection of fiction, poetry, nonfiction (incl. cookbooks; memoirs, health books; books on history and politics, feminism, our environment, art and craft titles, gardening, architecture, science, and literary essays), children’s, middle grade, YA, and local titles, and check out our selection of gift baskets for children, locally made cards and art prints, literary mugs and bags, and Folkmanis puppets. We also have gift cards to give that reader who has so many books, you’d rather let them pick their own!

We will close early on Thursday, December 24th, and be closed December 25th through 27th, and open from 11-5 the 28th to 30th, closing early on the 31st.
We’ll be open in the winter, but for reduced hours, Thursdays through Saturdays.
