Fortunately for Lucifer, there was only one more hoop. It was a low one but it was a small one, even for the short king.
"You got this, Dad!" Charlie cheered from the audience. "Just one more!" she tried to encourage him.
The rest of the crowd was cheering him on as well, with the exception of Alastor who had a sharp grin on his face and narrowed eyes as he watched for any mistake.
"ATTENTION, EVERYONE!"
"I have devised the very best and most encaptivating redemption exercise this hotel has EVER seen! And you'll be doing it with a smile!"

"The trust part is that you're going to have to trust me that you're not going to horribly burn yourself doing this," Alastor told him.
"Now, the key is to walk at a confident pace. If you walk too slowly, it will burn you. If you walk too quickly, you will sink into the coals and it will make it more difficult to move," he explained.
"Shoes off and no wings," the Radio Demon said, placing his hands behind his back.
"ATTENTION, EVERYONE!"

"Ah, naturally a queen would have no fear to show us all how it's done," Alastor smiled at her.
"That's the gist of it," he nodded to her statement. "Go too slowly and it will burn. Go too fast and you risk sinking into the coals. It's best to walk at a confident pace!"
She wasn't wearing shoes so there was no need to remind her to take them off. Alastor gave a small twirl of his microphone cane and gestured towards the lane of coals, indicating she could go forth.
"You got this, Bee!" Charlie cheered her on from the crowd.
"No, not at all!" Charlie beamed up at her, glad she could make it.
She knew Bee wasn't much for slow paced activities and this one definitely wasn't that so she was hoping she liked her first redemption exercise.
Alastor's eye twitched slightly at the interruption but he continued speaking to the group.
"As I was saying, this is an exercise in mind over matter, in trust, and in confidence! So without further ado, I give you... the walk of fire!"
With a snap of his fingers and a poof of green magic, a long runway of burning hot coals appeared in the lobby. It was quite lengthy and would prove challenging.
"There will be no flying allowed," he said, not just for Beelzebub's benefit as there were others in the group that had wings. "And no shoes. Hooves only for this trek."
"Do we have any volunteers to go first?" the Radio Demon asked.

Charlie took his accepted arm and started to lead the way.
"Well, you're in for a treat then if you don't go there very often! They're ummm definitely not tech savvy like the rest of Pentagram City," she admitted, knowing he of all people considering his association with Vox would be exposed to a lot of technology.
"But it means they have a lot of retro and antique stuff there!"
"I found a couple good paintings for the hotel at the last antique show," she explained taking out her phone with her free hand and flipping through her photos to show him the first and second one she had taken back with her.
"Only the hottest place in Pentagram City for antiques! Cannibal Town!"
They certainly did have a lot of antiques given that they were usually decades behind there.

There were gasps from the other demons in the hotel when he made the jump but then a sigh of relief from Charlie when he landed and seemed fine.
The audience watched with baited breath, eager to see whether their king would fail or succeed.
Alastor continued watching with his smug little smile, looking unimpressed so far.

"Oh, good. My own son ready to take on the challenge!" Alastor beamed at him before guiding him to the group.
Charlie gave Dominic an encouraging smile, standing on the sidelines. This was Alastor's exercise to run.
"Today's exercise will involve mind over matter, trust, and confidence! For today we will be mastering... the walk of fire!" Alastor finished dramatically and with a snap of his fingers, a long runway of burning coals were in the lobby.
It was a long walk and would not be easy.
