Sub story - Sunny Spot Poetry (1/3)
April 3rd is Yuyu Kinoshita’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Yuyu! I wanted to translate one of her stories for the occasion. Will probably review it more carefully later, but I wanted to be able to upload this for her birthday~
Yuyu’s stuffed goat, Daniel, often speaks in her stead. I’d like to clarify this is not referred to as ventriloquism - if you’re familiar with Shu and Mademoiselle from Enstars, it’s more similar to that.
As such, when it’s Daniel doing the talking, I’ve put Yuyu’s dialogue in quotation marks. Daniel speaks using archaic Japanese, which I localised by using Early Modern English pronouns. With all that out of the way, enjoy!
Featured characters: Yuyu, Protag-kun
Location: Hallway
Yuyu: “Thou who walks down this road — yes, yes, thee.”
“Certainly, thou art part of the Student Council, art thou not? I saw thee providing thy assistance at school assemblies and the like.”
“Mm? Thou art not an official member? I can not understand thee if thou say such complicated things.”
“Well, that is alright. Could thou lead me to the Student Council room?”

Botan Affection solo - 1
Botan is a very fun character, since she’s kind, but sort of absent-minded and harsh at the same time. Her trademark sweet tooth also comes to play in this.
She starts off many of her sentences with a sound of agreement (うん). So you’ll see plenty of ‘Mm’ or 'Mhm’ whenever she speaks. It’s pretty cute!
Featured characters: Botan, Protag-kun. Reika also gets mentioned.
Location: Classroom
Botan: Ummm…… Ahh, you, the boy over there. Do you have a moment?
Could you enter this classroom? Maybe you were cleaning or something, I’m sorry to inconvenience you. Alright then, excuse me…… ♪
Mm. You must be “Transfer Student-kun”, since you’re a boy. I’ve heard the rumours — you help out many of the girls, right?

Asuka Affection solo - 1
Asuka thinks and behaves very… how do I put it… shonen protagonist-ish. Even Protag-kun is a bit put off by it in this story. I loved translating this one.
When she talks about training for a ‘special move’ for basketball, I’ve mostly kept the term 'special move’ as 'Hissatsu technique’, from the original word hissatsu-waza. There’s a popular sports anime out there that uses that wording, and I thought it gives her speech a good dose of that “sports idiot” energy.
(Also, her voice actor voices one of the main characters in said anime. So it was just too good of an opportunity to pass up!)

Asuka & Botan affection story - Senior and Junior
Been getting into engirls lately and these two caught my eye, so I wanted to translate one of their stories. They’re just so cute.
I’m not sure if they show up in the currently translated main story all that much, but they’re the basketball club pair (Botan the senior, Asuka the junior). Asuka affectionately calls her “Komacchi-senpai”.
This story is a bit of an origin story on how Botan got to training Asuka, though, so it’s fine to read even without any previous knowledge!

Location: Gym
Asuka: Huff. Today’s practice was pretty hard, too. When Komacchi-senpai is around, the rest of the Basketball Club members sure get serious, don’t they?

I saw a picture of a translation from "Paradise", and Natsumi implies that Tenkousei-kun and Anzu might live apart?
The exact quote was: "Is he still "over there"? Actually, I expected him to move back here with you, Anzu-san! When I heard he went back to our hometown, I was surprised."
Do you maybe know any details or explanation?
oki so i kiiinda remember that quote and tbh, im not too sure about the explanation or details about it..... tho, it might have to do with the fact tenkosei-kun is like,, a child from a divorced couple? ofc one of his parents married one of anzus parents and stuff since theyre step-siblings, but maybe at the time he was with the parent that didnt marry anzus parent....? tho, thats just my guess, im actually not too sure about it so take my words with a grain of salt

i finished reading the last part of the 1st main story while at school lol
i cant say im disappointed,, quite the contrary, actually! engirls plot is such a simple thing, yet the way its executed... i love it, i remember i saw someone describe it as "reaching out to lonely people and helping them" and honestly, its so accurate I LOVE IT,, specially the whole reika part at the end? its so. aaaa. it tugs at my heartstrings and plays a melody that fills me with happiness. ill never regret loving this franchise
