Shops in Welsh is siopau. Pronounced kinda like "Shia-pai".
We have a word in the Philippines, siopao, which is adopted from Hokkien, and means literally "small filled bun".
In my mind they're similar, if only for the spelling. 馃槄

These f*ckers in the Duolingo diamond league are so competitive!
Like, dudes and dudettes, relax and just do enough lessons to stay in the league. No need to get thousands of points every week. Sheesh.

So "elf" means "eleven" in Dutch.
In a way it makes sense, I guess.
Since, ya know - elf -> eleven (elven)?

Dutch duolingo really doing word twister to tell time like:
Het is tien voor half zeven
Which is literally translated as "It is ten before half seven" when they want to say "It is six twenty".
Why can't they just say it as:
Het is twintig over zes???

Italian is kinda dramatic, don't you think?
Dopodomani means day after tomorrow which is simple enough. Just a composite of dopo (after) and domani (tomorrow).
L'altro ieri is a what I find funny because it's like:
No! Not THAT yesterday! The OTHER yesterday!
