As someone who changed his name just for fun when I thought I was still cis, i promise most people are ok with accepting a new name, even if you lie and say it’s a nickname. I promise. It’s really easy to just casually go “hey I wanna go by Bob now, it’s an old nickname I wanna bring back” like. Just start introducing yourself to new ppl, no one knows better. and if someone accidentally deadnames you just go haha no I go by my nickname now.
It sucks that ppl treat nicknames as more sacred than trans ppls choice names but still.

Biggest headcanon from wtnv here but like
I’ve always imagined that before the Strex arch Cecil and Kevin looked EXACTLY alike. The only difference was Strex’s modifications to Kevin and the eyes.
After the Strex arch, I can’t see them looking the same. I don’t think Cecil could look at himself at all without seeing some disgusting man who imprisoned his family, hurt his cat, hurt his eventual husband by separating them, and insulted his niece.
So when Carlos comes back, he doesn’t find the same Cecil. He finds a man who has done everything he can to change his appearance from Kevin. Loud outfits that are the furthest he can get from a formal, Strex business appearance and a new hair color every week. Looks in reflections that either linger too long or are too quick to see. A small smile that never grows even when Cecil is very happy. Eventually facial hair that is immediately gone when Carlos passively mentions that Kevin ended up with a five o’clock shadow in the desert.
I don’t think anyone got out of Strex unscathed. I REALLY don’t think Cecil got out as perfect as the fandom seems to think.
