FLATTERY WILL GET YOU EVERYWHERE
Man, what a crazy couple of weeks it's been.
Christmas, New Year, and the launch of LCOLLINSMUSIC across 9 different sites across the internet.
So far we've garnished over 50 fans on facebook (http://facebook.com/LCOLLINSMUSIC) which is great and we've ranked #20 - Most Subscribed (This Month) - Musicians - Australia on youtube (http://youtube.com/LCOLLINSMUSIC).  A great result considering the kind of content we're creating and our previous status as not having been out there at all.
Twitter's going well, having garnished 110 real/live/actual people/non-bot followers in around 14 days.
To top this off, I got an awesome video response to the Auld Lang Syne video we posted from Lots2learn who said in the video response description:
The other day I listened to a beautiful version of this song by YT user LCollinsMusic here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gU-yHa... that inspired me to try my hand at this song.
What a great way to start 2011.

Happy new year everyone. May we enter the new year carrying with us the memory of those we've loved and lost as well as the promise to cherish and care for those loved ones who are still with us.

One of the great things about social media is that it opens up a world of interesting things.  I know I'm one too easily seduced by beautiful words - but this some kind of wonderful...
trippy-backgrounds:
“And the clear depths of her dark eye
Were bright with troubled brilliancy,
Yet the lips drooped as with the tear,
Which might oppress, but not appear.
Her curls, with all their sunny glow,
Were braided o’er an aching brow;
But well she knew how many sought
To gaze upon her secret thought;—
And love is proud—she might not brook
That others on her heart should look.”

Am I a muso or a web designer??
Wow - the past five days have been killer.  I've gone from having no presence on the internet to putting myself on 8 difference sites (Facebook, Youtube, MySpace, Soundcloud, Twitter, Reverbnation, flavors.me and tumblr).
What a freaking load of work - most of it making the experience from each site consistent.  The lion's share is over though - I think (for now) - and I can go back to generating more music.
Hasn't been without challenges.  With the LCOLLINSMUSIC facebook fan page it seems that people outside of Australia can't get to it.  This stinks when you're trying to get the numbers up to qualify for a customised url.  And we need that because facebook.com/LCOLLINSMUSIC looks a whole lot better than http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lcollinsmusic-songwriter-and-arranger/111481188924439?v=app_4949752878 .  Now - why facebook wouldn't make this a given - who the heck knows.  The 7 other sites I joined just said - 'well - that's your username - that can be your url' - pretty simple.
Anyway - Looks like we're going to have to work around this and rely on our Australian partners to get on board.
Overall an extremely productive week with a little 'phooey' thrown in to keep me on my toes.
UPDATE: 20101221:1139 - Um - and guess who's fault all this was?  I THOUGHT I was being law abiding by using the Australia restriction - no restricting my audience!  Fixed now - I hope - must wait and see.  DOH! >:-/

So this is tumblr.
Wow - this site is really just about content isn't it.
There isn't even a profile to fill out... is that odd??
