Once again, police officers decided to use excessive force in a situation that didn’t have to end so terribly.
A robbery suspect was being pursued by the police. They jumped into Daisha Smalls’ car, with her baby, Legend Smalls in the backseat. The suspect was told to drop their pistol and put their hands up. They didn’t comply.
And INSTEAD of doing ANYTHING ELSE to defuse the situation, despite Daisha Smalls refusing to leave the car because HER BABY WAS IN THE BACKSEAT, something she screamed at the top of her lungs to tell the police, they fired shots into her vehicle.
One shot hit Legend in the right side of his head. Doctors had to remove a part of his skull to relieve the swelling, but they couldn’t remove all the fragments. He remains in the ICU to this day. This incident happened on March 3.
The negligence is disgusting and honestly? The fact that the officer that shot this poor baby was just put on ‘administrative leave’ is terrible. The title of this post is true but even if the baby wasn’t black, this would still be so utterly inexcusable. If the police want more respect from the communities they claim to protect, something needs to change about how they respond to situations like these.
A gofundme was set up for Legend though! Even if you can’t donate, reblogging this would be helpful too :)

Edit: So I’ve read up some more and apparently while Daisha Smalls did scream that her baby was in the backseat, it was more towards the suspect and not the cops (though she could see the cop cars nearby). The police may not have known a baby was in there, but then that just means they shot up the car while knowing a civilian was in there...

[ID: a reply by @/edwardkenwayisyourman, reading: "in addition, black people are facing extreme racism in the Middle East, mainly in UAE and Saudi Arabia. They get hired as maids or servants and their passports get confiscated by their captors to prevent them from escaping the country and are held as slaves. Mostly non-muslim women get hired so the captors won't have to treat them well or give them prayer breaks. Many christian black women get kidnapped from their homes and brought to Saudi Arabia. You can find videos all over the internet. An arab woman literally throws the black maid from the window and records her as she tries to hold the windowsill and beg for help. She unfortunately falls down from the 4th floor but luckily survives. Many, many other maids get tortured by their captors, most of them die in captivity. How do you think the UAE built such high buildings? Slave labour. I know many people, especially on Tumblr, really don't want to say anything bad about arabs or muslims but instead of making them completely immune to criticism maybe we can recognize the fact that every racial, religious, ethnic group have bad people and must be held accountable for their crimes and atrocities? Maybe? Diversity can't come from tolerance to the intolerable. If you show tolerance to the intolerable, intolerance will come for you eventually." /ID end]
Both college AUs and married-straight-out-of-high-school AUs have their virtues, but I think there’s unique comedic potential in contriving to combine the two, if only for the fact that you can still depict them as the prototypical college-bound disaster couple, then turn around and make a running gag out of other characters going “wait a second, those fuckers are married?”
(As an aside, this scenario apparently comes up often enough in real life that many universities – including the one I attended – have official policies addressing married couples where both partners are students residing in on-campus housing, typically involving special exemptions to roommate assignment guidelines.)
you’re not a capitalist. a capitalist is a person who owns or manages capital. the word for a person who neither owns nor manages capital but who believes in capitalism is ‘sucker’
i saw some comments on tiktok where people were talking bout how they found tumblr too hard to use and part of it being that there was no lack of dates so “what if you reblog or like something from five years ago?!”
buddy… we have posts circulating still from 2011, its literally just how it is
Last Post got some notes but almost no donations so i am doing this again because the universe decided to fuck me.
Hello my name is Milady and because of the pandemic i’m having some money issues.
Right now I am 50$ overdrafted on my bank account and today i went to the dentist, because i have been having some terrible teeth issues and apparently i need a Retainer.
Sadly, my insurance doesn’t cover them so i will have to pay $436.
$436 i do not have.
I really need help.
I know that everyone is in need right now but even a single dollar helps!
Hello, guys. My mother's friend has a 16-months-old baby, Rosanna, who suffers from a rare and severe form of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (Type 1 SMA). Unfortunately, the very expensive life saving treatment is legalised and paid for by the Italian government only for children under 6 months, that means Rosanna is not eligible because she's too old.
The treatment (a drug called Zolgensma) costs 2 million euros, it is among the most expensive drugs out there; it only needs to be taken once but it has to be administered before the baby turns two. The parents have decided to do a fundraising hoping to raise enough money to pay for the treatment themselves. It worked once for this Hungarian toddler.
In case Rosanna shouldn't make it, the money will be devolved to another family in the same situation.
I know we're in a pandemic, I myself have little money, so the goal would be to raise a very little amount from a large number of people. They've already raised 200k, not counting the money coming from other sources, so it's a good start.
Here's the GoFundMe, it's both in Italian and English. If you cannot donate, a reblog would be very much appreciated.
