I have not many NOTPs but Rick and Lori - the Social Darwinist and his door mat - is the one.
I know it's SWC Lori in the world with most women (supposedly) dead. But c'mon! Two men try to kill each others like horny dogs in heat. Being accountable? Heavens to Betsy! 🙄 Lori seduced poor Rick.
(Hey, at least Rick changed his mind about feeding Shane to the walkers!) So... Yai?

THIS! If Lori would have been the one who allowed 10 year old boy to go the forest full of walkers, and Rick would have been the one who made protests, we would hear about it even today.
I’m just gonna say it
Lori, Carol, and Maggie, all get hate for doing the exact same thing men in this damn show do.
Lori: Has sex with a man *almost a month* after believing her husband has died to avoid dealing with her actual emotions. When she discovers rick is alive she immediately stops the relationship and tells Shane to back the fuck off.
Shane: Tries to force himself on Lori, refuses to take no for an answer, oh and bangs Andrea while trying to actively convince Lori to get back with him.
Carol: Makes rash emotional decisions after loosing four children in violent deaths. Ultimately only ends up hurting herself, Lydia, and maybe Negan because she lied to him
Daryl: Makes rash emotional decision that gets Glenn killed and himself kidnapped and tortured.
Maggie: Is a strict leader and hangs Gregory for his attempt on his life, keeps Earl imprisoned as punishment for his involvement in the plot.
Rick: Literally gets Alexandria involved in the war with the saviors because he hears second hand about this other leader doing something wrong and kills 40+ of his men for it.
Negan: His entire control of his people was based solely on respect through fear by killing people’s loved ones or threatening to do so directly or indirectly.
But 3 of these characters are a “slut” “emotional” and “cold” and the other 4 aren’t. Ever wonder why that is?

Yes I KNOW there's already jokes about the four musicals featuring deformed European men finding love but THREE of them never murdered anyone who didn't deserve it and, ya know, treated their leading ladies right

Do you have any PotO headcannons?
Er, let me see if I can think of any. The problem with me is that since I mainly analyze Phantom, not write fic, a lot of these are going to start with, “Depending on the actor...” Also, a lot of these don’t feel so much like a headcanon as they are just me extrapolating motivations from moments in between scenes.
Finally, I think many headcanons tend to go into the details, like how they sleep next to each other or their eating habits or what the characters do when they’re focused on a task, but I don’t read or write Phantom fic anymore and I am just a massive INTJ and I can’t do details, I don’t care, I think big picture. And finally, these are all going to be very Christine-centered.
Christine likes to sing, but she does it because it makes her feel close to her deceased father; she does not care that much about having a career as a great opera star.
(Depending on the actress,) Christine secretly envisioned her Angel of Music as a real person, and is actually pleased to discover he is a man.
There is a fairly lengthy time gap between ‘Prima Donna’ and Il Muto, and Christine used that time to reach out to Raoul and tentatively re-form their friendship, while having only the briefest of interactions between the Phantom, much of it tense and awkward, with Christine often sitting in her dressing room trying to say something, the Phantom being there and just not responding, and conversations dying just as they start to pick up.
Christine feels immense guilt and responsibility for the Phantom’s reign of terror on the opera house, and at least part of the reason why she continues to go through rehearsal for Don Juan Triumphant is the fear that if she does not and just runs away, the Phantom will wreak even greater havoc out of revenge.
Christine is actually a pretty good singer by the second act of the show; the Phantom declaring that “she has much still to learn” is just him desperately using their teacher-student relationship to try to get her to return to him, and not an actual assessment of her skill.
(I feel like this one is practically canon?) It is the Phantom’s actions in ‘Wandering Child’ that finally convince Christine to perform his opera while acting as bait. She has seen that he will follow her wherever she goes and won’t hesitate to manipulate her by any means possible, and so she finally decides to perform to stop him once and for all.
(I stole this from someone else.) After dragging her down to his lair, the Phantom has a screaming mixed with sobbing fit in which he demands Christine put on the wedding dress, which he brandishes at her while refusing to look at her and trying to hide his deformity, until Christine finally just changes dresses out of sheer pity.
Raoul and Christine do get married, have children, and have a relatively happy, stable marriage. While they never speak of it outright, Raoul comes to understand that Christine’s feelings for the Phantom ran deeper than he initially assumed, which he ultimately understands and accepts as he realizes it does not take away from the love she has for him. Christine herself knows that Raoul knows, and in a strange way, it actually strengthens the love between them.
Because screw you, LND.

La Carlotta for the character meme?
Favorite thing about them: She has an astronomical amount of confidence and knows her worth. I love when a female character knows who she is and that she’s valuable.
Least favorite thing about them: Her confidence can come off as egotistical, and she doesn’t play well with others.
Favorite line: “The things I have to do for my art!”
BrOTP: Carlotta/Christine, I just want them to be friends so bad! There is so much room for her character to grow and develop into a mentor for Christine.
OTP: Carlotta/Piangi
NOTP: Carlotta/Erik, they have negative chemistry.
Random headcanon: Carlotta is a big fan of pet names, and has a whole list of them for Piangi.
Unpopular opinion: I dont blame Carlotta for being angry at Christine, she was in a tough spot to begin with with all of the Phantom’s hijinks, then Christine kind of swoops in and (unintentionally) steals her spotlight. Her bitterness was justified, though I do hope she found peace in the end.
Song I associate with them: Women Gotta Stick Together from Crazy Ex Girlfriend, because she would go there.
Favorite picture of them:

I’m watching the Show Must Go On’s stream of Phantom of the Opera and I am once again reminded that Carlotta may be a diva but (1) that’s literally her job and (2) she’s the only sane person working at this opera house. It’s like her and Piangi and every one else is too caught up in the ~gothic drama of it all~ to function.

"I would prefer to live forever in perfect health, but if I must at some time leave this life, I would like to do so ensconced on a chaise longue, perfumed, wearing a velvet robe and pearl earrings, with a flute of champagne beside me and having just discovered the answer to the last problem in a British cryptic crossword."
