Tamlin Week 2024, Day 4: (a belated) Happily Ever After

We stood atop the hill in silence, until the setting sun gilded the house and the hills and the world and Lucien called us to dinner.

This was inspired by the meadow scene in Studio Ghibli's "Howl's Moving Castle", hence the Ghibli-esque illustration style I went for here.
Many pro-Tamlin fans prefer to think of ACOTAR as a standalone book, and I am no exception. So my contribution to the "Happily Ever After" theme is them walking off into the sunset at the end of book 1. I hope you like it.

#i know this is incredibly late#it's been a really rough week#i didn't want to complain on main#so i just laid low for a while#but i still wanted to contribute more to the event#so here you go#i debated over whether or not to stick to canon by portraying feyre's tattoo#in the end i decided to keep it#and show tamlin embracing it#i also gave him a scar#any castlevania fans may recognize the alucard influence#but i wanted to highlight the fact that tamlin did get stabbed so that feyre could win the final trial#and it was with an ash dagger#that's gotta leave a mark#so while sjm plays loosey goosey with her magic rules#i used some artistic license to give him a scar#so there#and as you can see#feyre's hand is on his heart#where she can feel it beating#the end#whew#feylin#tamlin#tamlin week#day 4#my art#my fanart

I'm in a Feylin mood today.
From one of my favorite scenes in ACOTAR:
His lips brushed mine—testing, soft and warm. He pulled back a little. He was still staring at me, and I stared right back as he kissed me again, harder, but nothing like the way he’d kissed my neck. He withdrew more fully this time and watched me. "That's it?" I demanded, and he laughed and kissed me fiercely.
They're so soft for each other in this chapter. I miss them. T_T
EDIT: This is from the "I'm thinking I might kiss you"/"Then do it" scene in ch. 25. I should have been more specific. Sorry about that!

Tamlin Week Coloring Pages 2024
We have a very special surprise for everyone!
If you have been struggling to find a way to participate in Tamlin Week, or if you just want to do some relaxing grown-up coloring, you're in luck! Four of the Tamlin fandom's artists have drawn up some never-before-seen coloring pages featuring our favorite High Lord!

You can access all of the coloring pages in our Google Drive folder here, where they are in much higher quality than we can post on tumblr. Each page has the option to download with or without the background, depending on your preference. You may publish your colored masterpieces for Tamlin Week (April 14-20), or just enjoy them in private!
While the pictures are free to use, please give credit where credit is due and tag the original artists when you upload your finished work! Please do not alter or re-upload the artists' original line drawings and/or take credit for their work. Please do share your work and tag @tamlinweek so that we can see it, too!
Coloring Tips:
The images can either be colored traditionally, or digitally using your software of choice. For example, photopea.com is free to use and acts just like Photoshop!
If you choose to go the traditional route, Lady Midnight recommends printing the images on a heavier paper like cardstock. (Neenah Classic Crest in Solar White, 80 lb is her paper of choice for marker work, for example.) Consider using alcohol ink markers, colored pencils like Prismacolor, and/or light washes of watercolor to add color to your project.

Continuing the thoughts from this post, this was my original concept for Feyre's dinner gown.
Based on some suggestions from the linked post, I made a few mockups of different silhouettes. I still really like the original Edwardian-inspired style, but I'm curious to see what other people think.
I had a lot of fun "playing with paper dolls" as I layered each drawing and held it up to the light, like this:
It was a great way to visualize different combinations without coloring everything over and over again. (And I'm not proficient enough in Photoshop to try anything that way.) Old school for the win! :D
Anyway.
Overall, I still prefer my original concept, but I don't know if I like the silhouette better with long sleeves or short. Hmm. I know the final decision is up to me and what I feel comfortable drawing, but I am curious if anyone has any differing opinions from mine.

Update:
So I colored an old sketch that's basically the Edwardian concept (to see how the colors would look), and, uh... 😅
Who took more inspiration from Disney's Enchanted??? Me, or SJM? 😂
Fellow ACOTAR Book 1 fans! I could use some help visualizing Feyre's dress in ACOTAR ch. 22:
“Don’t know if I should be pleased or worried,” Alis said the next night as she slid the golden underdress over my upraised arms, then tugged it down.
I smiled a bit, marveling at the intricate metallic lace that clung to my arms and torso like a second skin before falling loosely to the rug. “It’s just a dress,” I said, lifting my arms again as she brought over the gossamer turquoise overgown. It was sheer enough to see the gleaming gold mesh beneath, and light and airy and full of movement, as if it flowed on an invisible current.
If SJM hadn't deleted her Pinterest account, I might have a better idea of what she had in mind, but as it is, this is what I found that I think matches the overall description (in silhouette, not necessarily the color):
I really like the Edwardian Art Nouveau influence, but is it faerie enough? Or should it be more "medieval" looking?

In front of them, the ocean lapped at the distant shoreline of the Night Court. Behind them was the distant glow of Day.
"It's beautiful," Tamlin breathed.
"Yes, it is." Rhysand was not looking at the view.
A much-belated Christmas gift for my good friend @praetorqueenreyna, who requested a picture of Tamsand as depicted in her fic: "I Belong With You".

The infamous Rhysand, as he was Under the Mountain.
I'm not sure how I feel about this one, since it doesn't match the other fan edits I made (with their own backgrounds), but it does go with this version of Tamlin.
I love how the Night Court insignia came out. (I made it myself after researching other mountainous logos.) And his wings of night turned out pretty awesome, too, if I do say so myself. ❤️
In case you're curious, the reason I didn't give him bat wings here is that I couldn't find a reference I liked. But I still like the overall effect.
This is kind of cheating since I took the face model from another Powerhouse Animation Studio show: Blood of Zeus. But the outfit is Hector's! I love his style.
I just love Powerhouse Animation Studios' style. It would be so perfect for ACOTAR! ❤️

I have had this in my drafts since October of 2022. The week of the first Tamlin Week on Tumblr. I made it for Free Day, and I couldn’t hit post. I blame anxiety. 🥲
But I asked myself back then: If A Court of Thorns and Roses was ever adapted as an animated TV show, what might Tamlin look like?
In case you were wondering, I borrowed the character model of Alucard from Netflix’s animated adaptation of Castlevania (2017). More details below if you’re curious.
