Hidden (revised Chapter 1-3)
Tumblr media
Summary: Posing as a couple who've lost everything to the First Order, Rey and Ben arrive on Carajam after the Emperor's defeat to hide themselves away and heal the scars within. Post TROS, with one obvious tweak. Light on angsty redemption, heavy on the come-hither stares.
A/N: I've revised and rewritten this into a drabble series, hoping it will help me finish this by the end of 2024. Let's go!
Preview:
Rey was wrenched from the consuming darkness of the Otherworld by a warmth at her waist. Feeling returned to her limbs in a pinpricked rush as she summoned her hand, reaching for the warmth. It was a palm spread across her stomach. Who's? She inhaled deeply, and the palm twitched in surprise.
Rey looked up. Ben's dark eyes met hers with shock so full of hope it banished the vestige numbness from her frame. It was his hand—his warmth—she touched.
"Ben?" She breathed, gazing at features both familiar and foreign. There was a softness she'd never seen in his brow, an unguarded parting to his mouth, a reverence in his glove-free hold. Raw relief spread across his face, rounding its shadowed angles and exposing the man caged away long ago. He cradled her neck as she straightened to sit, and Rey let her fingers travel through the air, hovering near his cheek.
Searching this new face—so different from the one she'd first seen in Starkiller's interrogation room—Rey surged forward. Ben rushed to meet her, kissing her in trembling celebration.
They had done it. They had defeated the Emperor. Together.
Ben pulled her closer, and Exegol's cold ruins fell away. The idea of him was nothing compared to the reality. His mouth was triumphant, but tender—she had saved him from the dark side, and he had brought her back from the Otherworld. The press of his lips strengthened as he deepened the kiss, brushing his nose against her cheek.
Rey wanted to savor the contact, to live forever in a single moment, but the urge to memorize him—to make Ben's soft joy eclipse the rage of Kylo Ren—had her pulling away.
She roamed his features, proving to herself they were real, and felt herself smile in wonder. He stared back, flitting over the lines of her nose and jaw with the same hint of awe. It was like he'd never seen her before. Like he'd waited his whole life to feel the elated acceptance in her gaze.
Ben matched her smile with one wide enough to show teeth, and Rey's heart leapt. The promise it held, a future without black robes or masks, left her nearly breathless. They had both been right; he had turned, and when the moment came, she had stood beside him.
For a beat, they just smiled, buoyed and proud, sharing something they'd never shared. And then—without warning—Ben's expression went slack and vacant. He grew heavy in her arms, and Rey bent to catch him as he fell, resting his head on the stony ground.

Pivot: Chapter 34
Tumblr media
Summary: Rey is never rescued from Starkiller Base, and Kylo Ren brings her to a remote planet to make her his dark apprentice. So far, it's not going well…. A Reylo AU told in drabbles.
Preview:
Debris littered the area, returned not in a controlled sink, but a surprised plummet. Rey barely noticed, disarmed by the sight of his almost-smile. Her flight through Takodana's forest, her interrogation, her abduction, her continued incarceration—all had built up the man before her as someone who no longer knew how to make his mouth move in such a way.
But somewhere beneath the cowl he no longer wore, Kylo Ren's façade was starting to crack. Inside was someone who could feel glimmers of pride and pleasure. Who could be happy at the success of another. Rey gawked until his smile fell.
"You give me too much sway," he whispered knowingly. "I distract you."
She tensed. "Says your ego."
"And the mess you've made of the engine room," Kylo Ren countered, looking out at the hazardous maze of upended containers and equipment that had once been travelable.

The Ruse (revised Chapter 1-2)
Tumblr media
Summary: When a nearly-teenage Rin decides she needs a mother, Sesshoumaru enlists the help of his new assistant in a plan to rid her of such notions.  A Sess/Kag, Fake Dating AU.
Author Note: Thanks to a wonderful reader (Destruction of Life) who crossed fandoms to inquire about this forgotten fic, I'm revising and reposting existing chapters. I plan to post the second half and finale by the end of 2024. Thanks for the inspo, DL!
Preview:
Sesshoumaru steepled his fingers, resisting the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose.  He had been around emoting mortals too long.  Constant vigilance was now required to avoid using their inane mannerisms.
His human daughter sat in one of the chairs arranged around his desk, ignoring the tall stacks of paperwork in front of him in favor of gazing up with big, hopeful eyes.
"Please?"  She implored, bunching handfuls of the school uniform at her knees and leaning forward.  Her small side-ponytail had started to wilt after a long day of classes, and he could see bits of dirt clinging to the glittering collection of keychains attached to her backpack zipper.  Her favorite—a two-headed dragon—looked particularly battered.
"Rin," Sesshoumaru started.  He couldn't believe he had to say this aloud.  "I am not taking your teacher out to dinner."
"But she's so nice, and so pretty," she rushed.  "You'd like her!"
"No."
"Pleeeease?"
The start of a frown pulled at his mouth, revealing his fangs.  He would not repeat himself.
She continued to stare, craning until she teetered on the edge of the chair.
Sesshoumaru swallowed down a growl.  "Absolutely not," he vowed.
Rin threw up her hands and jumped back into her seat.  "Why not?!"
He gave in and pinched his nose, wondering when this current stage of human development would end.

Pivot: Chapter 32 & 33
Tumblr media
Summary: Rey is never rescued from Starkiller Base, and Kylo Ren brings her to a remote planet to make her his dark apprentice.  So far, it's not going well….
Preview:
Kylo Ren led her to the ship's engine room, currently manned by a black-plated astromech and a gangly, angular maintenance droid. Rey recognized the QT-5 unit as the one who unlocked her room each day. She had tried striking up a conversation with her morning visitor multiple times, but the droid seemed skittish and withdrawn, often shrinking back at Rey's encouraging smiles.
The young woman still offered the unit a small wave as they entered, and QT beeped back a cursory greeting, immediately making herself scarce by rolling around a chromed row housing the hyperspace computer. The spindling maintenance droid was buffing out a miniscule dent marring an otherwise impeccably-smooth panel of plating and didn't pause in his task.
Rey surveyed the rest of the room, surprised to find it packed with clutter. Didn't First Order vessel's have standardized regulations about ship conditions? She'd almost call this place… messy.
Kylo Ren didn't seem to notice. He deftly side-stepped a trio of cargo bins near the doorway and ducked under the chamber's low ceiling. The walls around them glowed with system-monitoring lights, and the air vibrated with a loud hum.
"Why'd you bring me here?" She asked, projecting her voice over the engine's din. She wondered how cacophonous it would be if they were airborne; simply churning its stores of fuel to prevent coagulating in the planet's frigid temperature was enough to give her a headache.
Kylo Ren made no move he'd heard, heading for the only empty corner, the others filled with tightly-packed containers and computer banks.
Rey followed, growing wary as he leaned against the wall and sunk to the floor, crossing his legs. Her mistrust spiked as he patted a space beside him.
"Sit," he instructed.
"Why?"
The mechanized hiss and click of his mask being opened answered, and he pulled his face free. "Not everything needs to be a debate, Rey," he said. "Just sit."
She gauged him, eying his mess of dark hair, tousled and wild compared to the strict control of his attire. "Tell me why we're here then," she demanded.

I really enjoyed that u made a drarry starter kit/guide to reading that genre. Can u by chance make one for dramione (pls plug in when i should maybe read ur works, cuz all i see is so much praise for it! and im so excited)
happy new year !
Happy new year anon, and I'm more than happy to put this together! A quick disclaimer: I won't be recommending any dark fics. I’m not much of a dark fic reader myself and unless that’s something a reader specifically asks for, it’s not what I’d recommend starting with for dramione, especially if you’re new to the pairing. As always, read/write what you want, this is a purely subjective list. It’s also doomed to be incomplete/lacking. This ship is 20-plus years old at this point, there are more than 20,000 fics on Ao3 alone, which doesn’t account for the FFN-only fics as well as those lost to FFN purges and deleted LJ communities over the years (pours one out for Hawthorn and Vine). Don’t be afraid to fall down an older fic rabbit hole, there’s loads out there if you don’t mind looking.
Let’s start with fics that focus on Draco putting in the work to earn his redemption.
The Disappearances of Draco Malfoy is a Deathly Hallows rewrite and an excellent way to ease into this ship.
Once you've read that, come on over to the post-war side of things where we completely disregard the epilogue:
Remain Nameless
Wait and Hope followed immediately by Beginning and End
Apple Pies and Other Amends
The Eagle's Nest
Graveyard Valentine
Avalanche
Somewhere Down the Line
Not Fond of Asking
commit this to memory
Waifs and Strays
Tin Angel
Okay, now that you’re convinced Draco has the potential to even approach Hermione and that they could eventually be a couple, here are some more plot-driven fics.
Love and Other Historical Accidents
Heavy Lies the Crown
Distance
Enekpe’s Clock
Between Certifiable and Bliss
Carpathian
Looking Glass
Five Days
Okay, now you’re fully sold on these two and want to run the gamut of tropes, ratings, and story length:
Out of Order
Mutually Beneficial
Movements, Contrived and Improvised
He Becomes
Les Pelerins
The Alkahest
In These Silent Days
What You Think is Right
Boardwalk
Well Said, Hermione
Strange Birds
Mugglefied
The Seduction
Sex Ed
Breath Mints / Battle Scars
Ardent Bonds
Ordinary People
Ways and Means
Draco Malfoy’s Halfway House for Wayward Hens
Out of Mind
Celestial Navigation
I also want to acknowledge my FFN roots, since the first ever dramione fic I read was called their room. Some more FFN fics:
Macbeth
Fallen
The Mountain and the Sea
Bus Stop
Eight and Eighth
One Day in Autumn
Okay, that's probably more than enough to get people started 😅. Happy reading anon!

Clouded: Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Summary:  The consciousness of a 17-year-old Ben Solo wakes up in the adult body of Kylo Ren, who seems to be standing on some sort of suspended walkway… with an older version of his father before him.  Reylo.  Semi-Rise of Kylo Ren comic-compliant.
A/N:  Many thanks to Head Butler Ryan from Mynock Manor for the in-depth summaries and perspectives of the comic series Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren.  You gave this little plot bunny a place to hang its hat!
This has the potential to get expanded into epic proportions, but I'm keeping it short for now (six chapters).  We'll see how long the hyperfixation lingers!
Chapter One:  Where Am I?
Ben shook his head and blinked his eyes open.  He was in a cavernous hold of some kind, surrounded by the thrum of oversized thermal-oscillators.  Red operation lights glared as ominous portents in the darkness, and unfamiliar computer banks and access panels winked along a far wall.  A breeze played idly at his feet, and he realized he was positioned over a yawning abyss.  A thin maintenance walkway—without railings—bisected the bottomless void, swaying gently beneath him with each uplifted draft.
His father stood before him, but even that wasn't anchoring.  He looked a decade older.  A pain was etched into his deepened features, a sorrow and regret he had never seen from him, and Ben almost didn't recognize him.
"D-Dad?"  He murmured.
His father's eyes went wide, crinkling at the corners, and a joy so brilliant it nearly blinded split his face.
"BEN!"  He cried.  "My son!"  He flung his arms wide, and Ben found himself swept into a tight embrace—tighter than when he'd first left for Uncle Luke's temple seven years ago.
"I knew it wasn't too late!"  His dad exclaimed, shaking with sobs.  "I KNEW you were in there!"
Two joyous shouts joined Han Solo's, coming from high above the precarious walkway.
Ben looked up and spotted a woman beaming down in awe.  She was even more disorienting than the alien landscape.  Only a few years his senior, there was a roughness to her—a resilience he could see even at a distance.  Dirt and grime smudged her face and clothes, wayward hair hung around her ears, and determination set her jaw; she was a survivor.  Her gaze was nothing like Voe's competitive covet, or Tai's exasperated patience.  He could see pride, surprise… even curiosity… all aimed at him.  Ben felt himself straighten under her stare and discovered there was a new strength and bulk to his frame.  Like… a lot.  He felt enormous.
Chewbacca gave a thrilled roar a moment later, but Ben barely heard.  He couldn't tear himself away from her.  Who was she?
From her elevated platform, the woman's hands fluttered into motion, cupping around her mouth.  "We'll meet you on the top level!"  She called.  Her voice was clear and bright, brimming with unfiltered elation.  Whatever he had done—addressing his dad?—had made her unbelievably happy.
"Get going!"  She pressed.  "We need to move!"
His father withdrew and grabbed his arm.  "Come on, Ben," he urged, starting to pull.  "We gotta hustle, buddy."
Ben ducked his way through a nod.  What's happening?  He wondered.  Am I dreaming?  His foot snagged on something left on the catwalk.  He looked down, staring at the foreign object.  Is that a… helmet?  Am I on a mission?  Was I exposed to something?  Ben squeezed his eyes closed, snapping them open as his dad pulled harder
"Hurry, son," he implored.
Ben obliged, kicking the helmet aside and breaking into a trot.  "No problem, Dad.  Where to?"

I cannot say enough words about this piece from Lilibeth. Her attention to detail is NEXT LEVEL. His hand on her back. The constellation of stars. Their expressions! The lightning!
This particular scene comes from chapter 5 of #StubbornFolliesFic
Hoping to update this weekend which will be the FINAL CHAPTER ❤️
Thank you @lilibethdrawsreylo for this incredible piece! 🥰

“The towering, snow-covered fir trees of the densely packed forest cast a premature darkness over everything and blocked the late afternoon sunlight. But that darkness served its purpose as they came around a bend in the trail into an open clearing.
“Oh my…” Hermione trailed off breathlessly.
While they’d previously been surrounded by dark trees, they now found themselves encircled in yellowish, twinkling lights. Even Draco could admit, albeit begrudgingly, that the sight was quite spectacular. The bright little fairies sparkled and danced all around, some flitting from tree to tree while others remained dormant, pulsing in place. A low humming sound pierced the quiet stillness of the forest, otherwise silent but for Draco and Hermione’s cold puffs of breath.” - Remain Nameless, chapter 35, by @heyjude19-writing

That feeling when you read a fanfiction and then it ends brutally but there is no more to read because you blindly dove in a 90k+ word fic a month ago thinking it might be completed while in fact it totally and explicitly was labeled “in progress” and the pain is real because it is a slow burn and they haVEN’T SAID I LOVE YOU TO EACH OTHER WHILE THEY ARE CLEARLY IN LOVE BUT WON’T ADMIT IT FOR NO REASON BUT THEY ARE ALMOST THERE
