The funny thing is, some anti-gay camps are exactly like this. Not all of them obviously, as there are some legit horror stories about the really bad ones. those ones definitely need to be banned, okay? But I've heard from gay couples who talked about how they met at those camps and ended up together, though they of course had to have some lesbains cover for them by pretending to be their GFs. and they'd all become best friends with the ones they weren't sexually attracted to. And over time they just thought it was so friggin' stupid that they had to pretend to be somebody they're not just to appease religious folks? and that was also the story of how they stopped being religious and decided to be honest and open about who they really were.

i can't believe i have to fucking say it because i'm an educator so like how is it possible nobody else has said this.

unless a person is actively making materials/etc for children, they do not need to worry about your kid.

your child gets respect as a human. that's it. nobody's private life/artistic endeavors/unrelated interests must be controlled for the sake of your kid.

educators and athletes and artists do not have to live in chastity because your kid might see us on our days off. we do not owe it to your kid to only write poems about bunnies and only sing songs about tying your shoes. i do not care how much a person has given to children, if they are acting as an adult in adult spheres, they are allowed to. they are adults. it is your job as a caregiver to raise your kid and keep them out of adult spheres, not our job to keep ourselves out of those spheres just in case.

guess what! adult role models are going to bars and hooking up and dancing and being adults! this is so they have the mental energy to do all the child-centric things.

"it makes me feel weird to picture them like that!" i don't know how to tell you this but actors aren't actually their roles. the customer-service personality your waitress has is probably not her actual personality. the way teachers interact with students is not the way that they interact with their private lives, and it shouldn't be.

"this tells kids this kind of behavior is okay!" actually it's showing kids a normal and natural progression of a person's life, boundaries, and bodily autonomy. it's showing kids that adults are dynamic human beings. kids already know this. they know there's places they're not allowed and things they don't understand yet. it's just that you have icky feelings because you were raised in a society with black-and-white morality.

celebrities don't owe your children perfection, modesty, sobriety. and you know something? it's way healthier when they don't. "this is a person, who gets up every morning and does their job - but also has adult interests, which you'll learn about later" is way healthier as a role model than "you should be perfect like the curated image of this person and if you're not perfect you should be deeply ashamed."

anyway. idk why "think of the children!!!!" is making a comeback as a popular stance. but to be clear? it's a way of saying "this makes me feel uncomfortable, but i don't know why, and i don't feel like untangling it, so i'll blame you for it and hope you feel guilty about my children."

got the whole collection of soda drinks, thinking of turning the cans into table lamps when I’m done drinking them all and cleaning them out. My thoughts on all of the flavors:  Tried the Jupiter one first because I was curious about the cucumber flavor. Sadly, I wasn’t too impressed. This flavor was not what I would had chosen for Jupiter at all. I would’ve picked green melon flavor with a tiny dash of rose syrup flavor to represent her. I think that would’ve been far more delicious and fit her personality.  2/10  Mercury’s pear flavor was surprisingly nice-tasting and tangy, while delicate at the same time. It really suits her, actually. 10/10 Sailor Moon-- this one was weird. Pomelo flavor, as in grapefruit flavor. I think the reason why they used it for Sailor Moon is because it’s used in traditional nonalcoholic celebration drinks across most if Asia. so it sorta makes sense that they’d want an traditional celebratory drink for Sailor moon as her can was the very first to get produced. The grapefruit isn’t that bad tasting at all, I just don’t think it suits Sailor moon is all.     I don’t think it suits her personality at all? This isn’t what I imagine in terms of flavor if you told me to design a drink that would represent Sailor Moon.  I would want something that tastes like a somewhat childish drink but still loved by both adults and kids alike. something like a strawberry and rose flavor. 6/10 Sailor Venus-- The mango flavor fits her so perfectly, it’s light and bubbly but with a hint of tartness. 10/10 Sailor Mars-- You know how I said Sailor Moon should’ve gotten Strawberry flavor? Sailor Mars gets it instead here. I honestly love the flavor. but I’m conflicted over whenever Sailor Mars should’ve gotten strawberry. I always pictured her as being more of a cherry flavor kind of gal. Because Cherries are often all over the place-- symbol of trying too hard to seem mature but still being an innocent girl under it all, while sometimes being very tart/sour as hell depending on the breed of cherry you’re eating. a mixture of sweet and tart cherry would’ve been so perfect in embodying Sailor mars.   Still, friggin’ love that strawberry flavor. 10/10 Sailor Uranus-- Pineapple juice flavor. oddly, like with Sailor Venus’s flavor this one fits her so well in terms of personality and flavor? pineapple flavor is just one of those tastes where it comes in tasting so good, but then here comes the powerful tang as the pineapple itself tries to break down your mouth with its’ special enzyme bromelain . delicious AF. 10/10 Sailor Neptune-- Kiwi flavor? REALLY??  like with the Jupiter one I was really not a fan of this one. and I don’t think it suits Neptune at all??   Instead, I think I would’ve gone for green grape flavor which was laced with a hint of green lime. like you taste the delicate flavor of green grapes at first (tastes a lot like the pear one but with a different subtle flavor profile) which is very different than the flavor of concord grapes (which you typically taste in most grape-flavored things). and then BLAM, there’s the sour tang of lime that reminds you of lemonade.   Too bad they didn’t go that route. 2/10 Sailor Saturn--Grapefruit flavor, very similar to Sailor Moon. but this time it makes sense more for her and actually suits Sailor Saturn very much. 7/10 Sailor Pluto-- Watermelon flavor. Finally got around to tasting this one.... and I have to say that while it tastes very great, it’s not all what I would’ve envisioned for Sailor Pluto. not to mention, her can color is a dark ruby brown color which also gives the impression that her flavor would be something other than watermelon.     If it was up to me I would’ve made her flavor cinnamon apples. Not only is Cinnamon her favorite flavor in most things canonically it also makes sense as her drink reflecting her personality. still the watermelon flavor is good so I can’t complain. 9/10 Sailor Chibi-Moon--Lychee flavor. Oddly enough, this suits her very much even though I’d given her the watermelon flavor here. Also very tasty as hell to me... so again can’t find anything to nitpick about with this one. 10/10

sometimes fandom seems to struggle with the concept that...people can be kind/"good people" in some situations and very very not kind/not "good people" in others.

I feel like there's this urge to either write off the positive behavior as "fake" or to find a way to ignore/explain away/write out the negative behavior. and I personally find this really really irritating in both directions, actually

whenever some dumbass teenager posts about how adults having hobbies and participating in fandoms are cringe, there are always voices amidst the backlash asking “why do you engage with a child’s opinion?” well, maybe because adulthood is a neverending struggle bus of trying to keep yourself and your loved ones fed, clothed, housed and healthy, and then along comes a dipshit who has never in their life had to worry about any of these things, and tries to tell you you’re not allowed to partake in activities that have been keeping you sane for all these years, and as they say in my native tongue: a switchblade opens in your pocket.

Annoying that dairy products are demonized as Unnatural and Disgusting when it's actually kinda neat that humans figured out a way to fulfill omnivorous nutritional requirements without killing any animals (and populations historically dependent on dairy even evolved lactase persistence!).
