I really love these two but there’s no traslated version of the second book in my native language so I have no idea how their relationship develops after the Mythenmetz event

So true. And, to those "what Lapis has done is the only way to help Steven and CGs to get rid of Jasper so Lapis did nothing wrong" shit, I’m telling you that I'm totally fine if Lapis just used her power to poof Jasper in Jailbreak. Nice and neat and fast. She can no doubt do it, it’s been proved in Alone at Sea that she can broke a fucking boat with a single punch. Even when she was cracked, she still has the power to take the entire ocean away and make a tower with it. Just poof it, I’ll appreciate that very much. But instead of this, Lapis chose to imprison Jasper under water for months, meanwhile taking out on her. That’s cruel, unnecessary, and what so called TORTURE. Not fucking protecting friends from some sort of “evil villian”. Hell, it could’ve been better even if she just stood there and refused to fuse. Jasper was out numbered by the time. In fact, though Lapis took “I do this for you” as an excuse for her abusive behavior in Chille Tid, she actually wasn’t helping. At all. All she did is help create a ticking-time-bomb-fusion, and as the fusion, eat a bunch of watermelon stevens and make earthquakes.

Jasper: *yanks lapis’ wrist*

Lapis: *keeps jasper forcefully in a fusion for a year when she really didnt need to.*

I think Jasper has already been mentally unstable before she fuse with the corrupted gem, too. Fusing with the corrupted gem is kind of like, a trigger? Otherwise the whole thing can’t happen, since fusion only happens when gems are perfectly synchronized, both physically and mentally. And whe all know that a corrupted gem’s mind is…corrupted. That brings me to the sad part when Jasper succeed in fusing. I literally cried.

“jasper didn’t corrupt because she was upset! the only reason why she corrupted was because she forced a corrupted gem to fuse with her!” 

I think monster reunion made it pretty clear that there is a physical and mental component to corruption. 

the physical part was caused by the “damage from the diamonds”. when gems fuse, they merge their physical properties, so she took on that physical damage. 

however there is still the mental component of corruption, which is why steven was not able to heal centi all the way, and why she started to corrupt again after reliving her past trauma. 

I think jasper corrupting was probably inevitable because of the “damage of the diamonds” however we see no evidence of her corrupting until she says that nobody she fuses with wants to stay (gee, I wonder why…) 

you see her hand where the corruption starts in a couple of shots before that scene, and it looks totally normal. and her surprise that something has gone terribly wrong interrupts her self-pity party. the corruption spreads quickly the more emotional she gets. steven wasn’t trying to get her to calm down and comfort her for his own sake.

so I mean… both statements are correct? if she didn’t fuse with a corrupted gem she would not have corrupted. but if she was mentally stable I don’t think she would have corrupted either, or at least not that quickly. I think she had that tear in her mind long before she fused with anyone.
