i’ve had this thought floating around in my head all week and i don’t know if it’s anything, but i think the choose to use cars as the metaphor in the last verse of fortnight is interesting when you consider the getaway car of it all
#okay fortnight to me shows that the getaway car is RIGHT THERE AND WAITING#but it wont start until she decides to take the leap and touch him#THATS when it would become the getaway car#for now it is just a car she wants#as for the crashed rental car#she was only borrowing time qith him it wasnt something she bought and planned to keep forever#it was momentary temporary unnecessary should have stayed buried

Starting May 1, The Meeting will commence to discuss each track from the new albums The Tortured Poets Department/ The Anthology. Containing a total of 31 tracks, the members of the board are expected to discuss ONE song everyday on the month of May beginning with Fortnight (May 1) and ending with The Manuscript (May 31).

i disagree though like 'chosen family' is a very common term, peter could be about any ex who was too emotionally mature for her (which is probably almost all of them), 'when you are young' could be about any young love like when she was a teenager or any other relationship in her early 20s, i also think 'i knew youd haunt all of my what ifs' is also a common thing to think about most relationships?? like that's all so vague!!
