From the finale of Sybal Heim, an art-based RPG, and a follow-up to this piece.

There were a few sketches for the finale I made, this being the other one that made it to completion. I mentioned in the Discord I envision this happening right after the "main" piece, wherein the simulacrum of his old Sybal is able to help him fully to his feet for Dramatic Eye Contact. (and then after managing to hold it together long enough for the point to get across, he probably starts crying properly bc Lightkeeper hugs hitting a lil too stronk rn...)

Portrait commission for Avmire on Flight Rising. This one took much longer than I expected, but I think it really turned out well in the end :] Getting to draw an Undertide for the first time was so fun, too!

Early sketches of a character I began drawing back in April, named The Antlion, one individual of a "species" of beings that's so far defied classification. Whether they are organic or constructs, or perhaps a mix of both, remains unknown, and many factors make researching them difficult at best.

There's many more drawings on my hard drive, but these are the only ones semi-finished thus far XD so uhhh your problem now! //tosses

Birds on a line

Description below cut!

Back in late summer, I sketched out a fast composition of a bunch of birds on a power line in my sketchbook. I knew I wanted to turn it into a full picture with some kind of interesting sky, but wasn't sure exactly what I wanted, so I went searching through my old photos of skies and clouds (of which there are MANY...), and narrowed it down to 5-10. From there I decided on a few versions to paint, trying to make sure each was interesting and distinct within the set, and also wanted to see how well I could integrate the power lines and bird silhouettes into each different setting.

The first image was referenced from an old photo I had of an incredible sunset supercell that popped up over my house a few years ago. The scope and scale of it really can't be overstated. Even panoramic photos didn't do it justice!! It was absolutely mindblowing, and I feel so incredibly fortunate to have had the chance to see one of them in person, let alone so close to my house!

Sometimes uploading art is gleefully hitting "post" and hunching eagerly over your screen for the next few minutes to see if anyone likes it.

Sometimes it's more like spending days working up the nerve to hit the button, then running screaming out of the room the second it sends XD

Bioluminescent cave-bun-creatures! Some preliminary concept sketches I threw together and prettied up in Clip Studio back in August, both to push my creature design skills and as a bit of a tailored portfolio piece.

I plan to draw more of them eventually, and already have some modifications in mind. (Ex: making their feets more dextrous and less blunted.)

Also inspired partly by the absolutely amazing work of @ / jayrockin! If you haven't seen their work before and enjoy speculative biology or sci-fi worldbuilding, you should absolutely go give 'em a look.

From left to right, top to bottom:

Subterranean Earth fauna are largely blind...but in a different world, wildlife could use bioluminescence instead, like earth deepsea creatures.

Cartiliginous fans with large bioluminescent "eyes"; these act as both a distraction and an intimidation tactic (caterpillar style ;D)

Fans regrow easily and are designed to be lost. They can also be angled or waved, -> and folded backward to accommodate tight spaces.

Tapetum lucidum [in eyes], to take advantage of other organisms' bioluminescence.

Neck can turn 180 degrees, like owls

Insectivore

Small teeth, but sharp; resemble possum teeth

Paw pads are "sticky", in the same way as gecko's; this is mostly for traction, though, and can't facilitate hardcore climbing

Claws assist with traction in slippery cave environs

Conflicts are brutal - fights for territory or mating rights focus on damaging the fans, as without them an individual's chances of survival decrease

Behavior overall is reclusive, but dauntless.

While they rely heavily on their fans first, when push comes to shove, they have a reputation for being recklessly bold.

Reupload of some FR portraits. Old description below the cut!

Several years ago I toyed with the idea of making FR adopts, I think I got as far as these three (modeled after my own dragons) but otherwise it never really took off. I never uploaded these for some reason, but having used them as my icon and sidebar now I’m like. “wait. I can just upload them even if I didn’t go through with an adoptable set after all….”

So now you have to deal with the consequences! Woe, dragons be upon ye

also ignore the smudges of color escaping the lines, I didn’t see that before uploading and I’m too lazy to fix it now XD
