BUDGET 2018 â Implications on Educational Sector
The year 2018 has registered the much-awaited budget since the introduction of GST and for being incumbent governmentâs last budget of this term. It was indeed a great opportunity for the government to bring some revolutionary changes specifically in the educational sector â though it gives me a feeling of insufficiency, to say the least.
The Government has presented a budget particularly with a focus on addressing the fundamental needs of education in transforming traditional Black Boards to Digital boards that offer enhanced the learning experience.
The proposal to start Ekalavya schools and government Medical colleges will have a positive impact on the development of rural areas. One disappointing aspect concerning parents is that the government has taken no initiatives to provide better tax reliefs to the fee they pay for their children.
In addition, I also hoped that this budget will help students with educational loans that are unable to get a job immediately after their Course - a limited moratorium would have been a huge relief.
Accepting the fact that India has done supremely well in the fields of Information Technology and Space Research, I wish that Budgetâs share of investment in education sector should further rise as an essential component of demography driven by an agenda. More importantly, universities and institutions of academic merit should be allocated grants for capitulating research in all possible domains.
It is appreciable that the government has timely realized the ascending needs of digital sophistication through education. What matters most is that higher the budgetary expenditures in educational segments, better are the outcomes unfolded. We can only manage what we can ably measure. Hence, I insist budget be this fiscal measure of a government to drive its national cause where development remains as an effect of education.
