Introduction: Dixie
Tumblr media
This is Dixie! A very sweet Calico lady. She was adopted a number of months ago but she was returned to us because she was too scared at her new home.
Their surround sound speakers scared her out of going to the litter box, and the other cat in the house would pick on her. So this lovely girl is back at the Rescue, and showing that face off to find a new Furrever home!
We’ll find you a nice, quiet home pretty girl!

Introduction: Stevie
Meet Stevie
Tumblr media
Stevie came to the Rescue with two broken back legs that are still in the process of healing.
This beautiful senior boy is an absolute sweetheart! He was rescued off the street, and we were worried he’d have to lose his back legs.
Thankfully though they were able to put pins in them, and they’re healing nicely! So he gets to keep all of his limbs. Currently he’s in foster care with one of our volunteers so that he can have all of the care he needs to heal.
I can’t wait to see you again sweet boy!

Update: Kiki
Tumblr media
Kiki had to go into emergency surgery on September 22, 2022.
We had been told that Kiki was spayed, but that turned out to be a lie. Kiki had Pyometra, a bacterial infection of the uterus, that is potentially fatal.
She got into surgery and her uterus was removed without issue, she is now back with her foster mama getting all the love she could hope for.
I’m glad you’re okay sweet girl!
We could use some help covering the cost of the surgery, so if you’re able to donate, please do so! We would appreciate it.

Introduction: Tutu
Meet a long term resident, Tutu!
Tumblr media
Tutu is another cat that’s been at our Rescue for over a year. Tutu is another of our feral mamas and has had a huge turn around over the past few months.
Once a street cat that would lash at your hand if you got it too close. Now she’s a timid but lovely girl that adores butt scratches and paws at your hand when you pull away.
You’ve come so far, Tutu. I’m sure you’ll find your furrever home soon!

Introduction: Ritchie and Miida
Meet Ritchie and Miida!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These lovely older girls are new comers to the KSCR and were emergency intakes.
They’re sweet and friendly ladies, and a reminder of why so many humans are trash.
Their owner passed on and the person they fell under the care of took the cats to the vet and said “if you don’t euthanize them, I will take them to the backyard and shoot them”
So bless the soul of the vet that refused both of those options, and called us to collect them instead! I’m sure these girls will find their new furrever home right quick.
In fact, we already have someone interested in adopting them!

Introduction: Roseanne
Everyone meet Roseanne!
Tumblr media
Roseanne is another of the mamas we took in this past kitten season, and she is a feral kitty.
She’s not friendly and a lot of the volunteers are scared of her, but we’ve seen feral cats do some miraculous turn around when shown enough love and patience.
I, personally, make sure to take the time whenever I’m at the Rescue to try and get her to let me touch her. So far on days when she’s feeling particularly calm she might sniff my finger if I approach slow enough, and once or twice I’ve even lightly touched her head!
You might scare some of the other volunteers Roseanne, but you don’t scare me! I know you can open up, lovely girl!

Story Time: Casey
Now this is a bit of a sad story but it does have a happy ending! It’s the victory story about another of our ferals, Casey.
Tumblr media
Casey came in around the same time as a number of our other long term resident mean cats. Casey is a very shy cat but not particularly vicious.
Casey had a funny way of pulling her head away when you went to pet her and staring at humans with wide, baffled eyes.
Casey actually went home with a family, they said that they were willing to accept the challenge of earning Casey’s love and trust. After a few weeks though, they brought Casey back to the Rescue.
Casey always hid, and they couldn’t ever find her, couldn’t pet her and they couldn’t handle that.
So Casey returned to us, and truly our hearts broke for this cat. It’s always devastating when the home isn’t their furrever home.
We hosted an event at the facility a few weeks later, and one of our former volunteers came to see the cats in the lounge that were up for adoption. She walked in with her husband, and they spotted Casey in an instant.
They had both been at the Rescue when Casey was brought in, and they fell in love with her. They did not intend to adopt a cat when they came to visit the rescue, but they ended up taking Casey home a matter of days later.
Casey is still shy, and likes to hide. But  her family makes time every day to sit with her, to interact with her and earn her trust. Casey brought a new life and energy into her furrever home, and I know that where she is now is the perfect place for her.
Your humans love you more than I could ever put into words, and we’re all so happy that things worked out in the end Casey.

Story Time: Rivin
Meet my personal favorite cat that was at the Rescue, Rivin.
Tumblr media
Rivin is one of our feral cats, and he was mean when he first came to us. Rivin was brought to the Rescue shortly before I started as a volunteer there and I immediately fell in love with him.
Rivin was always a hesitant cat, but unlike some of his feral friends it was seen early on that he could be taught to accept humans. So unlike some of our other angry cats, he was never ear tipped.
Tumblr media
He remained at the rescue for over a year, slowly learning to accept peoples love. We watched him go from a cat that would back away hissing when anyone approached, to one that loved his head being pet. A cat that would accept being showered with love, and would softly bap your hand when he wanted to be left alone.
Rivin was adopted a number of months ago by an older couple that had owned feral cats before, and every so often they send us an update on his progress and how he’s settling in in their home.
Within a few weeks Rivin would sit under their table when they were in the dining room, and sweet quiet Riving is apparently quite chatty!
A few weeks after that he was eating treats out of their hand, and playing with the new kitten they had brought home.
Our most recent update from his family said that they went to pet him and he started to purr. Something that was rarely ever heard at the Rescue.
Rivin, I’m so proud of you, and we’re all happy to found your furrever home.
