Now here’s a bird you don’t see every day. The Partenavia AP68.PT-600 A-Viator. It’s a multipurpose aircraft buildt by Italian Partenavia (now Vulcanair) in the 70s, but later modified into different versions and for different purposes. This aircraft is used to ground based navigation aids calibration for both civilian and military purposes. There are only two left in the world of the 600 series, making finding spare parts rather difficult to say the least. #groningenairporteelde #norwegianatcointhenetherlands #vulcanairaircraft (ved Groningen Airport Eelde) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNbmeR7szdj/?igshid=gazohzrha3fm

Over the weekend several Boeing 737s landed at Eelde Groningen Airport for long term parking. All together we’ll have about 33 of them as the new and stricter corona rules are in effect. Finally, some may say, Lego made a UCS model of the Rebel Alliance A-Wing (75275). The build was enjoyable and felt more like a Mego Ideas set than one designed and created by the Lego company. It clocks in at 1673 pieces and is a more compact model than it’s Star Wars UCS counterparts, I’d say. It captures the shape of the lovely little starfighter well, especially around the rounded curves of the middle fuselage and engine housings. I would have liked to have seen a different and lighter design in the engine exhaust vanes, and maybe a little more details in the cockpit. All in all, it is very pleasing to look at and definetively has that Episode VI feeling to it. Now dear Lego, how about a UCS Bespin City Cloud Car? #ucsawing #ucsawingstarfighter #legophotography #lego #starwarslego #episodevi (ved Andenes, Nordland, Norway) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAcx545gCtv/?igshid=1ov1m2vbuxfez

The other day, i took my Bianchi Via Nirone 7 c2c to the mechanic and had confirmed that it had a tear in one of the weld seams on the right side of the crank. It was a major bummer, since i spent much time restoring it last summer. The mech must have seen the look on my face, and said «hey, i might have a frame from the same time somewhere» and off he went. He came back a little later with a beautiful white, yellow and black frame (as you can see) in the exact same size as the Bianchi. He told me it had never been used, and has been gathering dust in his attic since 2009. I looked it over, weighed it, and even though i liked the lines of the Bianchi a little more, it did click with me. I was also pleased to see that the fork was was a carbon fiber construction. The frame is a Marvil Road 6000, and all the parts from the Bianchi where taken off and put on the «new» frame. I do think it looks great, and also feels really good to ride. Sure, it’s not a high end bike, but it is going to give me both (much needed) exercise and joy. Components as follows: Derailleurs: Shimano 105 Brakes: Shimano 105 rim brakes Shift and brake levers: Shimano 105 Crank and chain rings: FSA Rims: Shimano Ultegra RS81 Tires: Vittoria Zaffiro Pro Seat and tube: San Marco (ved Bodø Harbour) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-hgfOCFSOf/?igshid=1rw4vzpozp6qe

Given that you have the right equipment, and perhaps a little extra clothes on, bicycling is indeed still a nice way to exercise even when through winter. I think that a gravel bike, fitted with studded tires for the snow and ice, is a good match for winter conditions. You get to maintain good speed on packed snow and ice, as well as a bit more traction from wider tires with more rubber in them. Here my White GX PRO is sporting 42mm width Continental tires as well as lights from Magicshine. The rims are from Araya, and a bit on the heavy side. I guess it doesn’t matter if you’re trying to stay fit. #arcticbicycling #arcticcycling #arcticlifestyle #atcoonbike #whitegxpro #whitebicycle (ved Løpsmarka) https://www.instagram.com/p/B81G-T1lO97/?igshid=17eidn2edcko6

Two good neighbours and I had no choice but to take advantage of the snowfalls of the last few days. Winter so far has been pretty lousy, with rain following snowy weather almost every time. This time it seemed to stick, and we loaded up our gear at drove to @vestvatnalpinanlegg east of Bodø, northern Norway. How were the conditions, you ask? Well, take a look for yourself. Pretty much everything in slo-mo.😄 #arcticskiing #vestvatnalpinanlegg #atcoonskiis #arcticlife #failureskis #freeriding #downhillskiing #skinorway (ved Vestvatn Alpinanlegg) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8pDP_MFA1i/?igshid=nwesmdn9s4pt

«Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moon light?» Lego’s large scale UCS ‘89 Batmobile (76139) was released just before x-mas and made a ‘yuuuuge impact on the lego collector community. Tim Burton’s portrayal of Gotham’s orphan billionaire playboy turned caped crusader, brought us a much darker version of the city as well as a rather large focus on Batman’s set of wheels. The jet powered car felt like a character in the movie, and the high-speed-grapple-hook-enabled 90 degree turns, were unforgettable. The car they used on the set, consisted of two Chevy Impala chassis’ welded together and powered by a Chevy V8 engine. The rest was built from scratch by the visual artists, and became for me, one of the most iconic vehicles in movie history, perhaps even rivalling the Millenium Falcon itself (i know that view is considered to be quite heretical). Tim Burton teamed up with Prince, and trusted him to make a truly different soundtrack for the movie, that in many ways contrasted the dark city of Gotham, something which the Joker (portrayed by Jack Nicholson) found to be fitting on his tour of the Gotham Museum of Contemporary Arts. The kit comes with lots of details, like a complete driver’s compartment, hidden machine guns, jet exhaust nozzle, a brand new windshield part and minifigs of Batman, Vicki Vale and of course; the Joker. There’s also a revolving stand included, and the first 500 to order, also got an extra batmobile in a much smaller scale, which was a really nice treat. #batman #legobatman #legobatmobile1989 #legobatmobile76139 (ved Bodø, Norway) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7DvBVJFvAr/?igshid=nqqlzo6hbeoz

If you want an affordable but classicly beautiful retro americana time piece, do look to Hamilton for their timeless Intra-matic. It’s quite sleek with a domed glass, see-through caseback paired with an ETA 2892-2 movement. Should you be into heavy wristwatches that give you a work-out just carrying them, this is not the timepiece for you. You hardly feel it at all, something which makes you pleasantly surprised every time you look down to your wrist because you think you forgot to wear a piece (such horror) that day. I was lucky to win this watch in an auction, where the earnings in their entirety goes to MS-research, an enigmatic and debilitating disease we as of now, can’t provide patients with a viable and trustworthy cure. This auction was held by my good friend, collegue and Rolex afficionado, #tom.k.z.eriksen (not related). (ved Bodø, Norway) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6NiWJbFl4-/?igshid=113t5id40o9s2

New restoration project finished. This is a 2007 Bianchi Nirone Coast to Coast, and was a wreck when i got it. I have no idea what the poor bike has been through, but the right pedal had been fastened to the crank arm with a nut on the other side of it. The inner crank casing itself had broken, the rims were bent, the tires were flat, brake pads were worn completely down and all the wires needed replacing. Luckily the cassette and the front and rear derailleurs were in great shape and only needed basic maintenance and some lube. I’ve only tried the bike briefly today, but will give it a more thorough test run tomorrow afternoon to see if there’s anything else that needs sorting out. Thanks to Andenes Sport for getting me all the parts for a fair price. #arcticcycling #bianchibicycles #bianchinirone #bianchinironecoasttocoast (ved Andenes, Nordland, Norway) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2kED6ylmsM/?igshid=1dn42krk33b0a

I spotted this Aeshna Juncea while going out for a walk a while ago. I’ve spent lots of time trying to find out which species this dragonfly belongs to. We actually have several species here in the arctic, but they’re all very similiar so it takes time for a hobby entomologist like myself to come to a conclusion as to which species a particular specimen belongs to. This is what i believe to be a female, since there’s hints of brown on the main body segment. It can take up to three years from when the egg is laid, until a fully grown dragonfly takes to the air as an adult. Fantastic that this wonderful insect posed for me, as it was resting a little on a wild raspberry plant. #insectsofthearctic #arcticdragonfly #aeshnajuncea #hobbyentomology #airtrasfficcontrollerandnatureshelicopter (ved Junkerfjellet) https://www.instagram.com/p/B194TdLAJGb/?igshid=otz15erbivtg
