10 years ago this Halloween night, five guys ( Joseph Montes, Ryan Winkler, Don Jordan, Jason Rapai, and myself) took the stage in a basement in East Lansing, which would lead to the birth of Journalist-core music. Press would be written, shows would be played, rivalries would be formed, and songs would be loved. Search Party burned out almost as fast as they lit up Lansing. “You’re killing rock ‘n roll” was the last words mumbled through a microphone by Don Jordan as Search Party’s final set was cut short. During the first quarter of ’04 Search Party recorded their 12 songs that they wrote in their short time in various basements, bedrooms, apartments, and bathrooms…and pretty much anywhere else they could. The album was mixed in the summer of 2004, but never to the satisfaction to the band. For the past three months I have been going over the raw tapes and seeing what I could get out of them to bring to the public, and fellow band members. What I give all of you today is Search Party’s debut and only album “Multivac is Back”. I am giving it to you for free, because I feel that the music, even after 10 years, still needs to be heard (just enter 0.00 for the price you wish to pay). So take the time, follow the link, and download the album today. Many of you probably have never heard these songs, and some of you might even have a favorite or two. I am humbled and pleased to bring you these songs as even ten years later they are close to my heart, so please enjoy.
