i’m  here  to  give  you  the  post - apocalyptic  king  of  the  wasteland  vaas  content  you  deserve  .

okay but real talk can we talk about post game au where vaas goes back to rakyat. like irregardless of jason’s choices hoyt is dead, buck is dead, citra is either dead or is going to be, and vaas is tired. tired of being someone else’s pawn, tired of not being home, tired of not having his people. there are plenty of those scattered without prior leadership - and even some, fewer, who must detest citra / dennis’ rule. so? uh. yeah, vaas taking back rook islands? but vaas, who tries to be a somewhat… better ruler than he was beforehand. i mean he’s still shitty but - it’s better than hoyt, and a hell of a lot better than his sister? at least in his eyes,

also vaas is tired of being used so uhhh far cry 5 verse seeds watch out like it’s always a heads or tails if he’ll work with / for the cult but it’s just. vaas is not something you can control nor make a pawn of. he bites the hand that chains him.

ay good point micheal talked about in an interview is that vaas? is insecure. i don’t know if i touched much on this here yet, but it especially ties into jason, more than anything else. but you can tell by the absolute lack of eye-contact he makes with jason, most esp during his famous insanity monologue.

it also ties into the distinct difference in vaas’ behavior and characterization between far cry 3 and other content. it’s because in far cry 3, the times we see vaas? he’s so, so, so intimidated by jason. at least, post the first scene, wherein after he’s got the tatau. because citra’s chosen jason, and vaas’ jealous and disgusted and so betrayed.

but honestly lack of eye contact means you intimidate the fuck out of him, in some shape or form. the pirates and privateer’s he’s learned to be fearless in the end, but citra, hoyt, buck, and jason        all in their own ways scare him, and therefor, he won’t make much eye-contact at all.

          vaas  keeps  his  hands  and  arms  bandaged    (  honestly  ,   it’s  rare  to  see  him  not  wrapped  in  the  damn  things  ,  torso  and  leg  wise  as  well  )   not  only  because  well  -   he  likes  the  way  they  look  ,   but  to  be  honest  ?   he’s  almost  always  injured  .

          as  for  scars  ,   vaas  has  plenty  and  is  unafraid  to  let  them  show  ,   seeing  them  as  a  sign  of  strength  and  marks  of  his  survival  .   from  his  trademark  scar  gashing  across  the  side  of  his  head  ,   some  notable  ones  include  the  long  stretching  tiger  claws  that  have  cradled  his  side  and  gut  ;   the  two  -  three  bites  on  his  legs  and  arms  ,   a  few  bullet  holes  here  and  there  ,   and  if  the  verse  is  post  far  cry  3  ,   a  nasty  ,   treacherous  pit  of  pink  near  over  his  heart  ,   where  a  blade  just  missed  the  damn  thing  .

     LINGUISTICS  .

     first  of  all  ,   did  you  know  the  rook  islands  are  fucking  real  ?   like  ,   that’s  crazy  man  .   second  of  all  ,   based  on  the  recognized  national  languages  ,   plus  vaas’  status  there  ,   as  well  as  the  obvious  affinity  for  spanish  and  english  he  shows  in  game  ,   vaas  speaks  at  least  four  languages  fluently  (  ENGLISH  ,   SPANISH  ,  BAHASA  MELAYU  ,   RUSSIAN  )   and  many  more  in  bits  /  parts  ,   not  only  because  of  the  pirates  under  his  command  ,   but  the  prisoners  he  took  in  .

     also  ?   vaas  likes  to  learn  .   this  affects  more  than  languages  ,   yes  ,   but  it  certainly  helps  ,  and  as  a  man  who  likes  to  talk  ,   it  certainly  shows  .

     then  again  it’s  verse  dependent  on  what  jason  does  ,   so  i’m  not  saying  he  WILL  see  her  again  ,   but  if  he  does  -   he’s  going  to  die  .   right  there  .   good - bye  ,  (  i’d  love  ?   to  have  some  genuine  talk  between  jason  and  vaas  re:  citra  and  by  extent  their  history  ,   what  happened  after  ,  ect .   )          but  also  ,   thing  is  ,   he  wouldn’t  know  either  way  because  he  was  stabbed  .   i’m  going  on  the  rough  time  line  that  it  took  a  long  time  for  him  to  recover  ,   and  it  was during  the  process  of  a  few  pirate  loyalists  moving  him  off  island  /  into  hiding  .   so  at  that  point  -   they  were  pretty  off  grid  /  contact  with  the  island  and  as  to  what  was  going  on  was  spotty  /  sketchy  at  best  .   and  by  the  time  vaas  recovered  ?   it  was  probably  too  late  /  there  was  no  communication  at  all  ,   and  he  would  have  been  forced  to  move  on  ,   no  matter  how  much  he  may  have  wanted  to  come  back  .   (   reclaim  what  was  his  ,   despite  those  few  loyalists  left  )

im fully convinced vaas fucking loved the jungle and he had so many exotic pets at other points and such like what the fuck. what the fuck! i need to shut up and make a hc masterlist already but oh no

     random  vaas  headcannons  &  backstory  .

vaas  and  citra  are  half  siblings  /  his  mother  killed  his  father  shortly  after  he  was  conceived  ,   and  never  really  spoke  about  him  .   vaas  found  out  about  his  father  by  finding  what  few  belongings  of  his  remained  ,   naught  but  the  salvaged  parts  of  a  tourist’s  life  gone  wrong  .

vaas’  mother  is  where  citra  earned  her  idea  of  creating  the  perfect  warrior  -  when  citra  was  born  a  girl  ,   not  long  after  she  made  a  “warrior”  out  of  vaas’  father  and  had  him  ,   it  was  through  vaas’  mother’s  training  and  conditioning  vaas  was  slowly  growing  into  said  “perfect”  warrior  .

that  was  ,   until  his  mother  wanted  him  to  kill  citra  as  a  part  of  a  final  test  (  this  is  mirrored  in  when  citra  asks  jason  to  kill  liza  )  ,   and  as  vaas  had  quoted  -  my  first  kill  was  for  her  -  instead  of  striking  his  knife  into  citra  ,   he  killed  their mother  .

not  long  after  citra  inherited  the  rakyat  ,  and  with  vaas  at  her  side  ,   things  only  grew  worse  .   citra  grew  into  the  same  demands  and  ideology  as  their  mother  ,  and  on  one  hand  while  the  things  she  asked  of  vaas  grew  more  and  more  daunting  ,   vaas’  addiction  to  drugs  grew  ,   driving  a  wedge  between  them  as  the  privateers  and  pirates  slowly  invaded  .

and  when  the  time  came  that  citra  saw  a  coming  war  and  wanted  to  create  the  perfect  warrior  -  one  where  her  so  called  brother  had  failed  ?   vaas  refused  her  ,   and  the  blade  she  had  planned  on  driving  into  his  heart  was  aimed  for  his  skull  ,   instead  leaving  him  with  a  scar  he  still  has  to  this  day  .

after  wrestling  away  from  citra  and  away  from  the  rakyat  ,   vaas  joined  the  pirates  ,   and  slowly  ,  but  surely  ,   earned  his  given  title  as  their  leader  from  hoyt  ,   becoming  the  pirate  king  .

vaas  has  had  multiple  exotic  /  native  pets  to  the  rook  islands  throughout  his  time  there  ,   including  a  tiger  ,  jaguar  ,  snake  ,  ect .   vaas  also  has  an  affinity  for  most  animals  ,   and  enjoys  their  company  greatly  ,  believing  respect  given  is  respect  in  kind  ;   this  also  goes  for  nature  .

vaas’  dependency  with  drugs  was  at  an  all  time  high  before  jason’s  attempt  on  his  life  ,   but  after  his  recovery  he’s  been  surprisingly  tame  about  it  ,   and  focuses  more  on  moderate  drinking  ,   light  drug  use  ,   and  clings  to  a  love  of  smoking  .

vaas  is  rakyat  (  melayu  )  /  hispanic  ,   but  when  asked  will  cling  more  so  to  his  hispanic  heritage  .

vaas  has  a  stretching  tatau  upon  his  back  that  starts  on  his  lower  back  up  to  blossoming  on  his  shoulder  -  blades  and  ending  on  his  nape  .   it’s  covered  in  burns ,   scars  ,   and  other  covering  tattoos  in  an  attempt  at  it’s  disfigurement  .

vaas’  most  identifiable  scars  include  the  one  running  parallel  to  his  mohawk  ,   a  set  of  tiger  claws  along  his  hips  /  sides  ,   and  if  post  -  game  ,   a  deep  gouge  of  flesh  over  his  heart  .

vaas  speaks  spanish  ,   english  ,   bahasa melayu  ,   and  russian  ,   but  also  knows  bits  and  pieces  to  many  others  /  is  always  willing  to  learn  more  .

vaas  loves  movies  ,   especially  animated  ones  .   he  refers  to  them  often  .

vaas  is  a  leader  ,   but  a  drifter  without  anything  to  tie  him  down  .   on  the  islands  he  bounces  around  from  place  to  place  ,   and  outside  of  such  has  difficulty  ever  setting  down  any  roots  .

vaas  likes  to  twist  other’s  perceptions  of  things  to  suit  his  needs  ;   say  ,   from  a  minor  thing  of  saying  his  nickname  is  ,   jokingly  ,   danger  ,   since  he  doesn’t  have one  -  to  doing  his  damnest  to  create  a  false  sense  of  security  in  someone  only  with  the  intention  to  mentally manipulate  them  to  the  point  of  no  return  .   the need  to  do  this  could  be  born  out  of  simple  desire  or  boredom  ,   too  .

vaas  keeps  everything  he  has  on  him  ;   it’s  the  joy  of  many  pockets  and  pouches  ,   from  a  knife  in  the  sheathe  of  his  boots  ;   to  a  well  -  used  notepad  and  carved  pencil  in  pocket  ;   on  his  hip  hangs  a  canteen  ;   a  flask  in  pouch  ;   cash  in  a  breast  pocket  ;   more  likely  than  not ,   a  gun  under  his  waistband  .   vaas  is  a  one  -  man  walking  army  ,  mind  you  .

on  the  note  of  said  notepad  ,   vaas  both  likes  to  sketch  and  needs  a  place  to  write  down  those  quick  ,   impulsive  ideas  of  his  before  he  looses  them  .

due  to  his  injury  sustained  from  jason’s  knife  ,   vaas  is  no  longer  as  invincible  as  he  once  was  .   but  like  hell  he’ll  let  it  show  ,   and  while  he  may  be  this  shy  of  weaker  ,   the  former  king  is  in  no  way  pathetic  .
