Molly to the Rescue!
Xander has met a friendly camper named Molly. Although a bit puzzled by Xanderâs story, Molly has offered to help by lending him her saddle shoes and necktie. Since he doesnât have his glasses, he will need to use hers while he calibrates his device, and plans to give them back just before he hits âsendâ. Good luck and safe travels, Xander!

Xander is a bit dazed. Illinois? 1944? A camp? His time travel device must have worked - sort of! Not exactly his intended destination, and he has lost both shoes, one sock, his flannel shirt, and his lucky red bow tie. And his glasses are on the table in his lab. Oh dear! Will he be able to get back home? Stay tuned!

I have dressed Emily to look like me! She is wearing a navy blue cardigan over a white tee, an infinity scarf, slacks, and flats. Oh and glasses too. Not very exciting, but something I would wear to work. She looks a bit like a (younger!) me; however my hair is just plain brown.

We live within the path of totality, and plan to watch the eclipse from our own driveway. The eclipse parties and special events sound like fun, but the predicted crowds and traffic jams are anxiety-inducing for me. I will be very happy sitting in a lawn chair with some Chex Mix and maybe a gin and tonic. Hoping for clear skies!
Luciana is very excited about the eclipse and will watch with me and my family. She has her own eclipse glasses and snack.

Four girls have dressed in their favorite colors.
Courtney loves deep, rich colors. American Girlâs Sparkly Plum outfit is her favorite.

Are any of the girls based off of real people?
Sort of? Felicity was inspired by girls who lived in Williamsburg in the 18th century, as well as Anna Green Winslow, a girl who lived in Boston and recorded her life in her diary. You can read Annaâs diary on Project Gutenberg. Also, look at this!
I also answered a question about whether Felicity might have died young, like Anna did.
Addyâs story was inspired by an adult woman named Mary Walker who escaped slavery. You can read my post on her here.
Nanea was inspired by the experiences of Dorinda Makanaonalani Nicholson, who grew up in Hawaii during World War Two who is actually still alive! She wrote a book about her childhood, Pearl Harbor Child: A Childâs View of Pearl Harbor from Attack to Peace and consulted with American Girl when they were creating Nanea. Last nightâs storms did no damage in our immediate area, for which we are thankful. Sadly, there were injuries, fatalities, and destruction in many parts of the American Midwest. We donât live in what is called âtornado alleyâ, but sometimes it feels that way! Are tornadoes/tornado warnings frequent where you live? We are grateful to have county-wide warning sirens, although we now also receive alerts on our phones.
Meanwhile I will get back to work on doll displays, including a little set-up for St. Patâs Day as well as pictures for the Spring Challenge.

Many tornado watches and warnings near us tonight. I have coat, boots, purse and flashlight ready to take to basement if we are advised to take shelter. Ironic because today I was working on a Wizard of Oz set-up with American Girl Grace as Dorothy.
