My fiancé is currently in the Canadian military (fairly new to it). He's currently on a course where they can take your phones and weekends if someone messes up. This happened to me today so we will have to wait another while before we can see each other again.. Any tips with dealing with the letdown? So sad 🙁

Hey there! You just have to stay positive as much as you possibly can! And sometimes that requires a lot of effort. I know how disheartening it feels when you find out you won’t get to spend time with your SO; I HATE that! But so many of us encounter that within the military community. So as annoying and disappointing and upsetting as it is, you need to force yourself not to dwell on those feelings. You can’t feel better about something if you’re dwelling on negative feelings! So when you catch yourself feeling and thinking negatively about this situation, actively stop yourself and CHOOSE to think positively. Remind yourself you’re going to see your SO relatively soon and that the separation is temporary. If you’re not able to talk to him, write things down that you want to remember to tell him when you two can talk again! Keep busy to help the time pass quicker. Do things that make you happy!
