I also wanna point out the "i've already made my plan to rise to the top" from Blackbeard, another indication on how he's the antithesis of Luffy, who never makes/follows a plan.

In many ways Blackbeard is a dark mirror for Luffy, and that includes how they chose to recruit people. All Blackbeard is interested in here is Ace's strength, when Luffy wants to go on fun adventures with his friends
