hell is right-clicking to save an image and accidentally clicking ‘email image’ and having to wait forty years for some email program you didn’t even know existed to rise from its slumber like some lovecraftian ancient god, meanwhile the fans on your laptop are preparing for takeoff and you stare dead-eyed as the rainbow spirals, spirals, spirals. you wait and suffer this cosmic karma. days pass. “just a few more seconds” you slur. your laptop freezes and the concept of time is no longer comprehensible. your family and friends forget your name and you fade from existence.

the problem with being able to pronounce your target language well from the beginning is that people think you are a native speaker but then you make grammar mistakes and everyone is like wait what why can’t you fucking talk

Reading class 🔍 That’s what a text looks like when you read through three times, doing the vocabulary search and you try to understand each paragraph.
Textes want to be read and used, if they just look pretty without notes they are less useful ;-)

28/100 days of productivity | it’s such, such a satisfying feeling seeing all my annotations and post-it notes sticking out of my lit books. also, idk why, but the fact that you can clearly tell how much I’ve read by the way the book falls open naturally makes me really happy heh.

Tap/Faucet
once again I like how Japanese continues to use kanjis that describe the thing it is the name for.
For example, we all know 花火, and how it is made from the words flower and fire.
Today I learned a word for water tap or faucet.
水道の蛇口(すいどうのじゃぐち)
The first two kanji mean water and road.
The second two mean snake and mouth.
So it’s like the water goes down the road or path and comes out the snake’s mouth. In my head, I picture a tap that looks like the picture below and it makes sense to me.

I am back on the study wagon in regards to Japanese... (I have been focusing more on Spanish recently). I don't, of course, want to forget everything I have learned and even just trying to study again today I realised how much I have forgotten. But tis only day one.
I've also decided to really simplify my life a little bit because I do struggle, like everyone else, when I feel that something is unachievable. So I have made a bunch of small challenges for myself to complete with no pressure to do them all at once. I've done it for a week now and I feel like it works.

Sometimes I feel bad that I spend so much time on learning Korean instead of doing other things that people might consider more useful/productive/important and then I remind myself that I’m learning a second fucking language and get over it

Two reasons why I really want to learn multiple languages
1. So I can talk about/cuss people out without getting fired
2. So if people I don’t know approach me I can act like I don’t speak the language.

my two-month break from school started off with me studying Korean (and watching two kdramas on my way too long to-watch list) and ended up with me reading a bunch of books on my TBR pile. all in all, it is with great satisfactory that I say this: it has been the most productive summer I have ever had.

I reviewed some Kanji flashcards + reviewed my 擬態語 & 擬音語 notes today! Did you know that Pikachu comes from the Japanese woord ピカ (pika, sparkle/twinkle, which is 擬態語) and チュウ (chuu, the sound a mouse makes, which is 擬音語)?
今日、漢字と擬態語・擬音語の復習をした!やっぱりピカチュウについてパワーポイントに書いてあるね(笑)
