This is another photograph I’ve taken for my A-level art theme ‘discarded childhood’ that I have then edited on an app called ‘Picsart’ by using a holga effect as well as changing the hue and enhancing the colour.

This is my America journal from when I traveled to New York,Philadelphia and Washington. The pages above are of taxi cabs outside the hotel I was staying in alongside photographs I took as I was arriving in New York. The one textile piece I have done is of the taxi cabs, I printed off the picture on to calico fabric then I quilted the piece before eventually painting over it.

This is an artist page I did as a response to Maciek Jasik’s work for my AS Art coursework. He was very relevant to my work as his one collection of work was based on fruit and veg, and the mystical mysteries and origins that comes with them, but many people has lost this knowledge. So he photographs the fruit/veg with poked holes in order to allow smoke to flow all around the item, creating a sinister yet magical feel to the photograph. The smoke is supposed to resemble the mythical mysteries behind the fruit/veg. But I interpreted the smoke as a form of smell and how the rotting of the fruit not only effects the item itself but the environment it’s within as well.

These are two pages from my AS Art work based on rotting fruit and veg. On these two pages I have made studies on a pumpkin that I had left to rot over 3 weeks, taking interest in the change in colour and shape. As a response to the photograph I have drew the pumpkin using watercolours, colouring pencils and acrylic, then as an experiment I decided to use white cotton wool to resemble the mold growing on the pumpkin.

This board is my experiment board for my lino printing work for AS Textiles, based on Native American patterns. I experimented to see how well the print would work being repeated numerous times, and also the fabric that suited best. In the end it ended up being printed on suede with turquoise paint as I thought it represented the culture at it’s best. I was strongly influenced by John Galliano’s Native American collection that is photographed above, and I wanted to transmit my inspiration to his prints in my final garment.

This an experiment I did as part of my AS Art coursework using inks and some salt. The whole piece is based on rotting fruit and veg and I wanted this piece to have an explosion of colour. To begin with I didn’t like this piece at all, but after looking at it numerous times I started to grow fond of what I’ve achieved.

This is my inspiration board for my AS coursework based on ‘Native Americans’. On this board I have drew a Native American chief that is inspired by the ornament in my house, included photographs I took whilst in America at the Native American museum, the I have also included inspirational words and a colour pallet to inspire my research. I’ve cut the board into the shape of a circle with dangling feathers as I wanted it to resemble a dream catcher, an item that is recognizable as Native American.

My research pages looking into ‘Inuit’ or commonly known as ‘Eskimo’ culture. I’ve used photographs that I’ve taken in Finland to help me with my research. ON the pages I’ve experimented with burning organsa with a heat gun for the fish, and used quilting for the totem pole.

These are some pictures I took of my final piece for my GCSE Textiles coursework of my cloak being modeled, just to give a feel for natural environment and the thought of a cloak full of insects wondering through a mass of green grass, tall overgrown trees and ivy.
