⠀It happened all at once. ⠀The power source in Tenel Ka’s lightsaber gave a shriek of electrical overload—and the blade winked out like a snuffed candle. Sparks and smoke poured from the end of the handle where an energy blade should have glowed. ⠀Suddenly, encountering no resistance as Jacen thrust with his last reserves of strength, the emerald green lightsaber sliced through the opening where Tenel Ka’s own blade had been just a moment before—plunging down to the only thing that stood in its way. ⠀Tenel Ka felt a line of blazing agony sweep across her arm just above the elbow. It burned… and yet below the burn she felt only a sickening, horrible coldness—a bone-deep chill like none she had ever felt before. ⠀Somehow her lightsaber thumped on the ground with a soft thud. Impossibly, she saw her hand clenching the carved rancor’s tooth. Sparks the size of lightning bolts flashed around the handle as her weapon exploded in a burst of blinding light. ⠀Bright. So very bright… ⠀Tenel Ka felt a dizzying haze swirling up to engulf her. Everything was so confusing. Jacen screamed something she couldn’t understand. Tenel Ka hoped intensely that she had not hurt him. ⠀ ⠀Jaina, Lowbacca, and Master Skywalker all ran toward her, shouting, but Tenel Ka couldn’t find the energy to stay upright any longer. Just as Jacen reached a hand out toward her, she felt herself falling to the ground. ⠀Then the pain and shock were completely swallowed up in blackness.

[ NOTE: We had to take some artistic liberties here because Tenel Ka's arm falls, the saber explodes and takes her arm with it, AND THEN she falls over. But that didn't work for the way we were thinking of doing these photos so we apologize for that little change! D: ]

Happy Valentine's Day from us goofing off (and also from our height difference woo)! We thought about a mushy post for today but settled for some behind-the-scenes asshattery from over the years instead because you should always be able to goof off with the ones you love. ;)

(Also, Jacen's jokes are totally a love language come on lololololololololololololol)

       After the lightsaber accident, in the days before they all joined Tenel Ka on Hapes, Jacen found himself drifting around the woods outside of the Jedi Temple, alone and listless. His mind whirled with guilt and fear as he mentally repeated the same questions to himself.        Could he have stopped his swing? If he hadn't been so desperate to impress her with his skills, could he have realized her lightsaber wasn't working correctly before it shorted out?        Little did he know that years later, Tenel Ka would wander the grounds of Reef Fortress, the same place they spent time together after the accident, in the same state of mind. She had become the Queen Mother of Hapes and he had been taken by the Yuuzhan Vong, presumably killed.        What could she have done differently? Could she have saved him? Kept him from going with Vergere if she had just stood her ground?

Throwback to 2017 when we made a post for the modern Alternate Universe where Jacen and Tenel Ka went to Jaina Solo's Halloween party as a snake and Merida from Brave. ;)

One of the things we always pondered regarding post-Return of the Jedi Jedi were their robes -- prequel Jedi robes were kind of boring can we get SOME FUN ONES IN HERE PLS? Corran Horn had green ones, though. So that's something. ;)

Because of that train of thought we always talked about making Jedi robes for Jacen & Tenel Ka that would reflect them more as characters. We got the basic parts and then split off -- with Jacen's we went for more of an animal-catching, nature boy feel while Tenel Ka's had a reptile print for the tabards, reptile fabric boots, details with beads and small sharp teeth, and some scaled handguards!

We don't have any photos of the Jacen robes because when we took these photos at Katsucon 2017 Nate didn't have pants for his Jacen robes yet and we didn't want you know... pantless Jedi running around. :| SO ONE DAY SOON, HOPEFULLY. (We need to fix the animal-friendly nature-boy belt thing, too. Hehe.)

Basically brb sobbing cause this is so beautiful and oh my god Tenel Ka and Jacen were absolutely robbed in canon.

This is by the lovely and talented Dani and you can find her on IG! She based the outfits off of costumes we made and there's no lie when I type here that hex made the dumbest sounds probably too high for even dogs to hear when she first saw this image. ;___;

Hex has been threatening to make a Tenel Ka pin for YEARS now but she can't art so I never did. She finally got off her butt and ~attempted,~ choosing to make it an acrylic pin cause then the lightsaber blade color could be included that way (as the color of the acrylic) instead of trying to add length to the pin with the blade or something and she actually LIKES????? the way it turned out?????????????????? SOMEWHAT??

We didn't order many cause we had no idea who else might care, hehehe. But they can be found over here if anyone else wanted to show their love for the Best Hapan/Dathomirian Warrior Queen Mom Badass Jedi! :D

We might have some more ideas for stuff in the future so keep an eye out (we'll make a post on that stuff and other stuff we have made soon including the candle some of you might remember! :D)~

...also, yes, hex is still threatening to make the YOLO FOR DJOLO shirt because she is the worst ahhhhhhdkjafk;lsdjfksdjfasdkfjsdkfj heheheheheheh

Hey, it's that one day years ago when we went out to take Young Jedi Knights photos and Nate forgot his YJK Jacen belt so he had to keep crouching down in photos so his pants wouldn't look REALLY AWKWARD. 🙃

P.S. Jacen, Tenel Ka doesn't care what kind of leaf that is RAYNAR IS BEING RAYNAR OVER THERE AND SOMEONE MIGHT NEED TO GO YELL @ HIM.

We moved recently and have been trying to figure out where to put up all the art we have. In our other place we had a wall for all of the Glitterati (Dance Central) art we have as well as a wall for all of the Star Wars: Expanded Universe art we have — which is pretty much all Tenel Ka and/or Jacen/Caedus related. ;D

The new wall we're putting our SWEU stuff on is bigger than our old SWEU wall so we need more art! We've been on a hunt for artists who do EU stuff to commission and I (hex) have been getting some stuff without Drae knowing of costumes we've made instead of just general Jacen & Tenel Ka stuff (especially since they have like three outfits forever :B) cause I figure it'd be a nice surprise!

We got our first commissions in mail yesterday and they're by the wonderful Warp Zone Graphics! You can also find him on IG!

Now to find more EU artists and start plotting the layout of the art wall. >:D

⟿  New Jedi Order: Star by Star

This was a set of videos we made a few years ago with a scene from New Jedi Order: Star by Star (the gifset we originally made from it can be found far back in time on this tumblr)!

We were using a rolled up quilt batting that was sitting on our craft supply shelf for the placement of where Luke was supposed to be standing so the folder the original videos for these were saved in is just called "quiltwalker."

It's the 21st anniversary of the release date for Traitor, from the New Jedi Order series!

From our original post for this costume on our master costume list being built over on @zhobot:

"Ever since Nate read Traitor, he had always said “I WANT TO MAKE AMPHISTAFF JACEN COSTUME” – but he specifically said not the action figure one. Which has amphistaffs, but also has Jacen in a jumpsuit. Nate wanted something other than a jumpsuit for once so he decided to do the dirty Yuuzhan Vong captive robeskin.  Dragon*Con 2011 was on the horizon and he decided he was going to do it. He only went with three amphistaffs instead of a bunch though. They were heavy and didn’t like staying on him as much as he wanted them to. We had a lot of fun sewing that outfit though because we could screw up all we want and it wouldn’t matter. The shoes were fun too. Really fun. Basically, HOW MESSY CAN WE MAKE THINGS?"

Yeah, looking back we always wish we had more amphistaffs but carting those three states away for the convention and keeping their little heads intact at the same time would have been a mess. Maybe we'll build more and get some more shots of this costume for this project! :)

⟿  Happy Star Wars Day!

We've made an account on the clock app for this whole Jacen Solo + Tenel Ka Djo project since we'd like to do more video work for it (and a certain other platform keeps making our project accounts vanish w/ no explanation I wonder which one lolllll :)))))) and we figured we'd kick things off over there today.

This was a set of videos we made a few years ago with a scene from Legacy of the Force: Inferno (the gifset we originally made from it can be found on this tumblr)!

   “She’s looking over here. Think she can hear us from there?”    “She is Ta’a Chume. I am sure she has every corner of this palace bugged and can hear us from everywhere.”    Jacen scoffed. “What a way to live.”    “Imagine actually having to live it like I do.”    Tenel Ka’s voice held that ghost of sarcasm she’d picked up over the years, but Jacen could see the truth of it in the way she currently carried herself—the exhaustion in her sigh, the emptiness creeping into her gaze. He wanted to reach out and take her hand, but he knew even something that simple was highly dangerous in their surroundings.

We figured we should update you on the saga of the IG account!

The second account we started was suspended not one, not two, but three times! Then disabled! And again, absolutely no reason was given to us as to why it was suspended/suspended/suspended/disabled. Just... all of it gone again. (They did this with one of hex’s personal accounts too, just... GONE.)

We’re not making a third account on IG. So this project will not be on IG anymore except for the occasional post here and there on the zhobot IG —so if you’re on IG and want Jacen/Tenel Ka stuff, hit up the zhobot IG!

Ugh. We had met so many cool people on there too. -_-

  It’s sad because we made a lot of SWEU friends over there and now all the people we were following and all the posts we made are just gone. :( Anyways, we’ll be starting over on IG and if you’re a fan of Jacen Solo and Tenel Ka we’d love to see you over there!
