thinking about how years down the line, the common person in the avatar-verse would remember zuko and katara as. because if we go by how they portrayed them in the ember island players epsiode i guess it would be something like:
the great fire lord zuko was known for his duty and devotion for the betterment of the fire nation to such an extent that he gave up his love for the master waterbender of the southern water tribe so as to uphold the fragile thread of peace between the fire nation and the rest of the world.
i wonder what kind of epics about their love and sacrifice would emerge? perhaps they would be the orpheus and eurydice; the tragic love of the atlaverse :)

my biggest problem with the katara/aang ship is that soon after the war ended, in the post - cannon, katara's role has been diminished to just a support for aang. katara, the girl whose fiery temper discovered aang, the parentified child who grew up too soon, needed to relax and utilise all her talents, that she discovered and play a more important role in the post war world rather than just being a wife and mother to aang's kids. it's as if she suddenly lost all her importance and was never freed from the 'mother' role that she played ever since she was a little girl.
maybe the relationship should have been slowly developed rather than quickly forced from the beginning, but tbh their love initially seems like a puppy love phase, not something that would benefit katara - master waterbender from the southern water tribe, in the long run

An enemy that bombs and uses white phosphorus against civilians doesn't know nor practice what your broken moral compass describes as "peace". Freedom was proven throughout history not to be achieved through kneeling and asking the oppressor to kindly stop. Freedom needs to be taken by force. Your little Utopian way of thinking doesn't work in the real world. Your feelings don't matter because you're not the one living under occupation. Your feelings don't matter because you're not one of the thousands of children who lost their limbs. You're not one of the children who became orphans due to this genocide. You're not the mother who lost her child to the carpet bombing. You're not the father carrying the remains of your child in plastic bags. You're not the newlywed woman who lost her husband. You're not the one at risk of either getting killed any second or losing your loved ones in the blink of an eye!
"Peace" is not really a thing you see during a live ethnic cleansing!

Palestinian men and boys in Gaza describe the torture, humiliation, and dehumanization that they suffered during their time as captives of the Israeli occupation forces. “They forced us to make dogs’ sounds,” one man tells the camera. “If you refused to do so, they would beat you.” Another tells the reporter, “When they saw us falling asleep, they would come with a lighter and burn our backs with it.”
“Every hour was like years,” the same man says. “The torture was unbelievable.” Reports have emerged in recent days of mass roundups, torture, and execution of men and boys in Beit Hanoun and other parts of north Gaza. Detainees were identified by loved ones and others in the community who recognized them from the photos the occupation forces have been releasing.
As more footage and testimony are released, the depth of the horrors inflicted upon our people in Gaza are being brought to light. While we may never know the full extent of those horrors, what we already know is enough for any person of conscience to be able to identify as war crimes that are as depraved as they are systematic.
“My message for the world is to look at those detainees,” the final detainee tells viewers. “We are respected people. We are not animals.”

British photography student Tom Hurndall dies after being shot by an Israeli sniper in Gaza nine months earlier.
Hurndall was trying to save Palestinian children from Israeli gunfire when he was shot in the head and left in a coma.

TLDR Isreal has cut off all water, electricity and telecommunications within Gaza in a complete blackout and Gaza has lost their voice. Israel has already threatened to bomb Al Shifa hospital, which is currently a shelter for around 50k-60k Palestinians. These are images of Gaza Strip from an HOUR AGO. They are literally slaughtering and wiping out generations of Palestinians as we speak.
Please I need to see y’all talking about this and being loud for Palestine. Your anime yaoi twink hyperfixation will still be here tomorrow but literally thousands of innocent people may not.
