Hello everyone! I haven’t had a very good last couple of months. Got sick twice in a row and became very busy. Lost motivation to do a lot of things
Cool thing is though, I got into a new fandom to help get me back on my feet! I got curious about the hype surrounding The Amazing Digital Circus and watched it. It was, well, amazing! I wanted more! So I watched Glitch’s other stuff, and became even more obsessed with one of their other indie animation shows: Murder Drones!
Murder Drones is right up my alley in terms of what I like in shows. Sci fi, post apocalypse, etc., but most of all, the contrast of cute characters in a dark world. Not a very commonly found theme. This series gives me similar vibes to Made in Abyss in that regard, my favourite anime.
So I may have gone a bit overboard and bought a bunch of merch….
I ordered an Uzi plush too! She’s on the way. Just had to wait a little longer in order for her to restock.
Hello friends! I’ve been thinking about you all! No progress updates on the next figure yet, but I will say that it’s going much faster than the last one!
Recently found this at my local thrift store. I couldn’t believe it!
Oddly enough, this copy of Left 4 Dead came with a Left 4 Dead 2 manual, but there was no L4D2 copy in sight. Lucky find for me I say! Usually when I buy secondhand games, the manual is missing. Now I’m prepared for that faithful moment when I do get a copy of Left 4 Dead 2!
That's it for Rochelle for a while I think. I've already begun production on the next character. Perhaps I will find time to take some more shots in between my work on my next figure!
Custom L4D2 Rochelle figure update: painting on the Depeche Mode graphic!
For reference I printed out miniature versions of the Depeche Mode graphic. Credit for this vectorized version goes to AstroZerk on DeviantArt! I eye-balled the best sized one and cut it out.
I held the cut out print to the t-shirt and referenced it as I painted on the graphic with acrylics.
With her iconic t-shirt now complete, she is officially Rochelle!!!
Custom L4D2 Rochelle figure update: making the boots!
I’ve probably redone these boots 3 times now. At first I sculpted the boots right onto the figure. Turns out, that makes the clothes too hard to get on the figure. Paper mached them once and they were too tight. Then again I paper mached them, and they seemed to be okay. The current ones are a little big, so I’m still not 100% satisfied with them.
Custom L4D2 Rochelle figure update: Making sewing patterns!
I mentioned earlier how I wanted to incorporate as many realistic pieces into these figures as I could, so that includes clothing!
There’s no readily available sewing patterns for these WWE figures, not to mention I’ve also heavily altered the original proportions, so I had to make my own patterns from scratch. I came up with the idea to paper mache the main body of the figure and then carefully remove it to sorta make like a “second skin”. I then flattened this “second skin” and traced it to create my patterns.
Paper mache part:
Carefully removing the paper mache (to protect the body, I saran-wrapped it and paper mached on top of it):

Custom L4D2 Rochelle figure update: Gluing on the hair!
First pic: making yarn wefts for the the hair! I wanted to incorporate as many realistic pieces as I can into these figures. I pulled apart the twirled bits of black yarn; they were just the right size. Then I glued them at one end and coated each piece in watered-down glue to prevent them from falling apart.
And the video of me gluing on all of the pieces to the head! I apologize in advance for the janky shot at the end. These are all of my raw unedited videos, and I accidentally hit the camera, lol.
