Technology and Education For Me So Far...
During this whole term learning the fundamentals and finer details regarding the incorporation of education, technology, and the relationship between teachers and students. I've come to learn and understand that... I absolutely knew nothing before partaking in this course.
Before I began university, I was a know-it-all, who believed that he was always right. In my narrow worldview, I was always in the right and other people did not see the logic behind my ideas and actions. But before long, I was humbled and learned that I was wrong about a lot of things due to my ignorance, and one such thing that I was ignorant of was the topic of education and technology.
Regarding education and technology and how they complement each other, I once believed that technology meant that tablets, computers, TVs, and other gadgets were the only things needed in the classrooms. However, I was humbled again when my professor and classmates began discussing the history of educational technology and the different theories devised over the centuries. I didn't even know that there were models used to improve the learning environments of students; How the Internet and World Wide Web became prevalent in education; and many other facets that I was entirely ignorant of in learning how to teach.
In conclusion, I now know that I am ignorant and do not know everything there is to learn about education and technology. I accepted this when I began introspecting and asking myself the big questions about my life in the free time I had before class. If there is anything that I have learned in the entire term that I began learning on this course, it is that I have acknowledged my ignorance and must reflect and ask myself whether or not I am truly right, wrong, or unsure in the things that I do in the present or in the future. As stated by Eoin Colfer in his book series the Artemis Fowl “Confidence is ignorance. If you're feeling cocky, it's because there's something you don't know.”.
