āWhen I see you, Iām reminded of all my shortcomings.ā Kinokuni Nene mutters stiffly.
She would admit this ever so often to Isshiki Satoshi, her childhood friend, rival and general frenemy. He is the gifted chef between the two of them while Nene earned everything she picked up.
āYou donāt have to say it like a threat.ā he always chuckled lightly.
None of her feelings has anything to do with Isshiki personally. Rather, they are insecurities about her own limitationsāa fact that she has to slowly accept. He sensed this and made an effort to give her space after graduating from Totsuki, so that she could grow and see herself outside of their rivalry.
āLetās go out for a drink after work. Iām in Tokyo for a few days.ā
Isshiki frequently visits Tokyo for business and uses whatever spare time he has to go around and see friends. When he visits Kirinoya, Nene insists on staying inside kitchens. Hinako and Megumi literally have to drag her out when the restaurant closes in an attempt to get her some social interaction.
āAre you still mad at me?ā he asks when he finally gets her alone.
Neneās temper shoots through the roof and she pounds her fist onto the table. She gives Isshiki an accusatory glare before irately pursing her lips together. After all these years, itās evident she still holds her frustrations about him deep inside of her.
āI canāt seem to shake it off. I feel like Iām 16 again when I see you.ā she confesses, āIām broadening my horizons and improving my cooking, but none of that seems to matter when I hear your name.ā

[A collection of headcanons on what kind of music I imagine the characters of āShokugeki no Somaā would be into by creating playlists with songs I feel theyād like]
I just really wanted to get them done becauseā¦yeah ahdhd. So here they are! We have some of the senpais at last! Yay!!
Nene Kinokuni: Iāve kept these playlists mostly English so far, but with Nene I think the Western music, sheād appreciate the most would honestly be classical music shshd. Neneās playlist consists mostly of instrumental songs, because I just feel this would be what sheād listen to in her free timeā¦.I tried my best!
Satoshi Isshiki:Ā āYellow Submarineā came on when I was listening to smth on shuffle and I was likeĀ āIām going to put this on Isshikiās playlistā and from that point on, it sorta became a chill playlists of mostly 70s songs? I donāt know exactly why, but I feel heād like songs like thisā¦?
Terunori Kuga: Kuga was honestly the most challenging out of this bunch, because I can picture Kuga enjoying a great many thingsā¦heās just so chaotic ahdhd. Given his hyper personality, I searched mostly for upbeat songs from various decades and also tried to include some Guilty Pleasure stuff. Because in my headcanon, Kuga is just a meme-lord.Ā
Etsuya Eizan: Eizanās theme in the anime (āAlchemistā) is much on the rock-side, soā¦ultimately I just think heād listen to Rock as well? Given the titleĀ āde-stress playlistā, I eventually structured the playlist like:Ā āloud things you can be angry toā ->Ā āsoft Rock to calm downā ->Ā āone motivational pop songā because that idea was just very funny to me, Iām sorry. And I wanted to fitĀ āGoldā by Spandau Ballet there somewhere.Ā But yeah, ultimately? He listens mainly to Rock imho.

Yes, itās the 6th of January, meaning it is Nene Kinokuniās Birthday and soā¦I drew something. I even tried my best to draw carnations and failed because I headcanon carnations to be her favorite flowers aside from camellias.
Anyways, hi I really love Nene and Iāll forever be bitter over how mistreated she was by the canon material. She deserved a better and a lot more story for herself.Ā

I feel that Terunori & Nene are lightweights, while Satoshi and Etsuya are heavyweights.Ā
Nene & Etsuya both being honet drunks is one of my favorite thoughts. But I do think that Nene overall also gets more bolder (and maybe even daring) when sheās drunk.Ā
Satoshi is very huggy and touchy when drunk, I think. But heās overall not too different from his usual self.Ā
Terunori is all the more wilder and prone to give long, completely unfiltered rants and rambles when drunk. Heās also very bouncy and would absolutely dance on a table, yes.Ā
I honestly think that Nene got a drunk call by each of her male colleagues at least once.Ā
