finally posted this!!!! you can read it here
thinking of writing a sukuna scenario where he unexpectedly saves you when you’re in danger (he forces yuuji to switch), because you’re the incarnation of the woman he used to love back when he was human…hmmm

SUKUNA SAVING YOUR LIFE
synopsis: this is based on this random thought.
a/n: this was way harder than i thought it'd be. and it took so much longer than i planned. (i even worked on it during my lectures i just couldn't get it OUT OF MY MIND). anyway, i hope you enjoy it!!!
the curse had come out of nowhere.
you'd been celebrating your victory of successfully eliminating the threat of the grade one curse with your classmates, when all of a sudden, an overwhelming surge of energy knocked the four of you to the ground.
it didn't take long for you to find yourself trapped in the special curse's domain, unable to move due to the sheer pressure of its presence. and it took even less for the three of you to become on the verge of exhaustion, able to barely fight by just for your survival.
"(y/n)! fall back!" you can barely make out megumi's urgent voice before the attack is sent your way, hitting you square in the spine.
the breath is knocked out of your lungs, your mouth opening in a silent scream. unbearable heat and discomfort surges through your bones, incapacitating you.
your hands are trembling, your vision is blurry. around you, the whole world is muffled, like a pillow settling over your five senses. the world is tinted red, and oh? was that a pool of blood increasing in volume with each passing moment?
you struggle to stand up, using whatever strength in your hands to raise yourself up, to keep fighting. if you fall that means you had failed your friends. nobara was already lying unconscious, yuuji and megumi ganging up against the special grade curse.
with shaking legs, you struggle to stand, to balance yourself. but you finally raise your head, bringing your crossed fingers in front of your temple, gathering all your strength into this finally attack.
you accumulate enough cursed energy, feeling your whole body draining, until all at once you release it, and it unleashes stronger than any attack you had ever made.
you were sure, this would hurt the curse badly, enough to create an opening for your friends to finish it off. you and the boys watch it as it finally reaches the curse, the force wave washing over it, you can see yuuji gathering his black flash, ready to take it down—
the curse stands still as the attack washes over it, it sets aflame, and you hear its terrible pained screeches. relief washes over you, the ghost of a smile making its way into your face.
until the flames die out all at once, and the curse slowly, almost comically, turns around. it's previous mocking face was all but gone now. replaced by an ugly frown, it looks angry. and it was looking straight at you.
your eyes widen, hands shaking in disbelief. you can't control the exhaustion as the aftermath washes over you, can't control your trembling lips as you finally collapse.
and then the fear, because you know it's making its way towards you, you know megumi and yuuji won't have time to hold it back. and you really don't want to die, not this soon. you have to move out of its way, but you're on your knees, watching helplessly as it dashes towards you.
unbeknownst to you, at that same moment, excruciating pain surges through yuuji's head. his hands fly up to clutch at his temples as he doubles over.
"get yourself together, we have to help (y/n)!" megumi yells but he knows it's no use, the curse had already crossed half the distance, it was going to get her, and only yuuji's supernatural strength is on par with its own, but he was busy having a migraine—
"he wants to come out!" yuuji finally yells, and in the next instant the all-familiar black tattoos slowly appear on his skin.
he begins growing in size as sukuna takes over his body. megumi couldnt believe his eyes. he had to help (y/n), why the hell did sukuna make an appearance at a time like this? he grits his teeth, taking his defensive stance, but sukuna doesn’t even glance at him.
he dashes towards (y/n), and megumi would have never believed it had he not seen it with his own eyes, but he stands between (y/n) and the curse.
with one swish of his claws the special curse they had almost been killed by is split in half.
there's rage in sukuna's face, rage that freezes megumi on his spot. a manic glint in his eyes as he pounces on the curse and rips it to shreds, even when it is clearly dead.
and when he’s done with it, as he turns around and kneels before you, that rage is nowhere to be seen.
instead, you are sitting there on your knees as you watch it unfold, certain that once the king of curses turns around, you were the one about to be ripped into pieces.
instead he's kneeling in front of you, a conflicted, almost gentle look on his usually demonic features as his large hand reaches out to you, before he stops mid-way.
and you realize with a jolt, that the great curse before you is hesitating.
you feel your heart beating wildly against your chest. you are afraid, very much so. he was so big, so animalistic. with his outstretched claws, his four eyes and his sharp fangs when he opened his mouth only to close it again.
suddenly you feel the tears running down your cheeks, and his eyes soften at the sight.
he isn't hesitant anymore when his hands, with the sheer strength you knew he possessed, wipe away at your tears so gently, so softly, cradling your face as if you were made of glass.
and when he leans in, pressing his lips to your forehead, you refuse to believe this is reality.
when he pulls away, its yuuji facing you with an incredulous look on his face. and you realize with another jolt, that with his kiss, sukuna had healed all your wounds.
you're left speechless, staring into the eyes of your pink-haired friend as if he had suddenly grown another head. he looks back at you with the same look.
***
a week has passed.
you were growing impatient, but you were also scared.
impatient because yuuji was banned from seeing anyone after his latest 'slip-up'. scared because even though you wanted an explanation for what happened, you feared what it could mean.
however, you should've known better than to assume this presumed ban would last any longer. it took only for gojo-sensei to burst into your room for you to understand his intentions.
"wanna go see sukuna-kun?"
you flush at his insinuation. to be fair, you preferred these jabs to be directed in front of your face rather than behind it. it was what everyone was speaking about, anyways. how you had somehow seduced him.
jujutsu sorcerers were truly insane, in more ways than one.
but that was at the very back of your head. as you follow your very tall sensei through the hallways, you finally reach yuuji's room.
as soon as gojo slams open the door, yuuji jumps up from his bed.
"i swear i have him under control. he just went all crazy and started torturing me from the inside. he made a pact and he only wanted to save (y/n)—"
yuuji stops as soon as he spots you.
you pale. so, it really was true. he didn't, say, hold a grudge against that particular curse, or he didn't feel bloodthirsty all of a sudden. no, but of course not, he had healed you after.
he had wiped away your fearful tears.
"yuuji-kun!" gojo-sensei suddenly exclaims. "do whatever (y/n) tells you to do." and with that, he leaves the both of you together, closing the door behind him with a slam.
"are you okay?" yuuji is the first one to break the silence.
you shake your head, "i am fine," you say lowly, "are you?" you ask him sincerely. this was, after all, the first time you'd seen each other after that dreadful mission.
he flashes you a wary smile, his hand flying to rub the back of his head. “well… ” he starts. “it’s been, strange.”
“what do you mean?”
yuuji’s face is serious when he replies. “he’s been awfully quiet.”
you don’t know how to react to that information, but you can’t help but look away.
you’re now both sitting on yuuji’s bed, knees almost touching. instinctively, you grab his hand with yours and squeeze it.
“that’s a good thing, no?”
“well, yes.” he turns to fully face you. “but he’s never this quiet. he’s always spouting insults and threats, this silence is…unnerving.”
you hum. “i see.” you nod, thinking of the best course of action. “i need to speak to him.”
the words surprised you as much as it surprised him.
“uh-oh, no well in hell.”
“you heard what gojo-sensei said, do whatever i say.”
“i am sure he didn’t mean letting out the king of curses.”
“i am sure that’s exactly what he meant.” and you were very sure. knowing your sensei, he must have known that this is eventual what you would want to do. which is exactly why he uttered that last command to yuuji.
yuuji thrashes around, muttering about how irresponsible and stupid you were being, you didn't disagree, but you stood your ground. with your arms crossed over your chest, your deadpan face finaly drives yuuji to agree.
"fine!" he finally concedes. "but you get ten seconds with him."
you laugh humorlessly, "two minutes."
"you're mad," yuuji shook his head. "i'll give you one minute, but the second i sense malicious intent i am switching."
you nod. "fair enough."
and as yuuji steps back and closes his eyes, you start to panic. what exaclty were you going to do once you face him???
you had no time to think as yuuji starts growing in size, the black tattoos appearing slowly on his skin.
and when narrowed, red eyes glare back at you, you take a deep, shaken breath.
he does nothing but stare at you. you don't miss the way his eyes scan your body, or how his displeased frown only seems to grow by the second. his overwhelming presence takes over your senses. an aura of destruction and death fills the room, and it becomes harder to see anything past the fear clouding your thoughts.
"what do you want, brat?"
somehow, hearing those words helps to calm your nerves. even if they were spoken with such disdain and displeasure. it was the indication you needed to be certain he wasn't going to attack you.
but deep down, you knew all along that he wouldn't hurt you. not really, anyway.
despite every fiber in your being telling you to take a step back, you take one step forward with shaky legs.
he seems taken aback, and if you weren't hyper aware of every slight movement he made, you would've missed the slight inhale of breath when you took another step forward.
"you have some nerve, to stand unarmed before me." he says sowly. "if this were anyone else—"
he realizes his mistake and stops. his jaw is harshly set, his hands clenching and unclenching at his sides. if this were anyone else.
"i know you." you finally say the words that have been plaguing you all week.
sukuna freezes. three, simple words rendering him in a state of disarray he hadn't experienced in hundreds of years. it was all he could to maintain the scowl on his face, the leer as he looked at this woman to whom he had given out his heart so, so, many years before.
he barely remembered her, and it made him all the more pissed. why would such a puny, tiny, (beautiful) creature make him, this confused? this obsessive, this protective?
he hadn't been able to stop thinking about you ever since he first saw you through the eyes of yuuji. something in him stirred, something he had long lost. but of course, he ignored the jabs he could feel every time you got yourself hurt. he didn't care. he never did.
so why had he gone feral when you had laid there, on the brink of death? the thought of losing you, of your death. it was suffocating, unbearable, he couldn't allow it. he didn't allow it. did he?
and this was why you were here, standing so close to him. loooking at him with those big (e/c) eyes that searched his for answers. you look so soft, so weak compared to his strength; he knew he could kill you with one swipe of his claws. the thought, however, didn't entice him one bit.
and then you spoke those words. i know you. and it was as if you had read him perfectly, saw right through him. understood exactly what was going on here.
"you know me too." it wasn't a question.
your voice was so low, so shaky, but not uncertain. you suddenly wanted to touch his rough skin with your own, to close the distance and feel him. how was it, that one felt affection for a monster?
"you need to stay away from me," he says, and your eyes find his. they were pained, but stern.
"why?"
"because i am a curse." he steps closer, and you realize with a jolt how close he was to you, how, if anyone of you takes one step closer, your chests would collide. "isn't that common knowledge for you troublesome sorcerers?"
and then his hands hover again, just like they did back then when he saved you. and even if he does hesitate like last time, this time, he continues. until his finger is on your face.
gently, slowly. one finger, and then the rest follow as he cradles your cheek.
the breath has long been knocked out of you. he towers over you and you're frozen. how can a beast such as him gaze at you with such longing?
"why do i know you?" you whisper, and he gently shakes his head.
the movement is slow as his eyes roam your face, until they finally settle on your lips. he slowly brings his thumb to brush over your lips.
your heart almost burst through your chest. your lips slightly part.
you can't move, not under his gaze. not when he was this big, this magnificent.
all too soon, he pulls away.
"never seek me out again." he says. you panic, hands reaching out to stop him as he steps away.
but you were too late, yuuji's confused face staring back you.
***
you toss and turn in your bed that night.
a simple moment you'd spent with him, and it had completely taken over your thoughts.
despite your better judgment, for the nth time that day, your fingers ghost over your lips.
you could still feel his touch, hot and hiding a secret you wished to unfold.
who were you to him in your past life? you shudder at the possibilities, at the truth you saw in his rough, yet sincere gaze.
eyes softening at the reminder, you hug your pillow tighter to your chest, as you let out a defeated sighed.
until they suddenly harden upon the following events.
somehow, the higher ups had gotten wind of the situation. you were summoned immediately after departing from yuuji's room.
"this is an unprecedent case," they had said.
"you do understand the importance of this task, don't you, (l/n)?"
"make sure to earn the affection of the king of curses, that way, we might finally be able to control him."
what did they expect you to do? you were barely able to get a minute to speak with him, let alone earn his affection. whatever that meant.
amidst your jumbled thoughts, a yawn makes its way to your mouth. you feel the fatigue washing over you. tapping on your phone screen, it lights up. 2:47, it says. you really should sleep.
but just as soon as you start closing your eyes, your phone starts buzzing non-stop.
annoyed, but more so alarmed, you quickly reach out for your phone. it was yuuji who was blowing up your phone.
pink-haired dork:
(Y/N)!!
he's killing me
he wants to see you
he's demanding to see you
(y/n) i want to see you too, something has happened i need to tell u.
don't come to my room we're both being watched.
(y/n) are u here??? wake up!!!!
you sit up straight, staring at the screen apprehensively. your fingers begin tapping away.
what do u mean we're being watched?? wth
your phone buzzes instantly.
pink haired dork:
megumi told me. he and nobara overheard a conversation earlier. we didn't understand what it meant but i think sukuna does.
he's been pestering me for hours but he just told me it means you're in danger
your confusion increases as you begin to reply.
and you believe him?
pink-haired dork:
i can't risk not to. if this true, (y/n), then we need to get you out of here.
before you can reply, your phone buzzes again.
meet me by the fountain in 15
climb out of the window.
DON'T USE THE DOOR
THEY'RE WATCHING IT
it wasn't that you didn't believe him, this was a hundred percent a scenario you should have seen coming. the higher ups would take advantage of any situation if it meant gaining an advantage over a curse. what you were doubtful again, was the sukuna part.
you don't think too much as you sneak out, not wanting to make yuuji wait out in the cold. you wear a jacket and rush out into the chilly night, being extra careful not to make any sound.
you spot him pacing back and forth besides the fountain. once he hears you coming, he lifts his head. the next moment he was dragging you by the wrist to a more scheduled spot in the garden.
"yuuji what—"
he shushes you, until you reach the location hidden by overgrown trees and vines. "we can't risk anyone seeing us together," yuuji says. "we can't anyone see you near him."
"i got that, but why? what happened?"
"by the ocean's might she was reaped. the devil's claw invincible after an era of peace. the skies welcomed his calamity. against the cruel sorcerers he swore his wrath. the world shall never again know peace shall she be reborn.''
the words were suddenly spoken from yuuji's cheek.
yuuji only nods. as if you were supposed to understand what that meant.
"what does that even mean?" you cross your arms over your chest. and when yuuji only looks as confused as you, you frown.
"this is what megumi and nobara overheard, and sukuna is saying—"
"so you don't know what it mean?"
"no. but he does."
"so tell him to explain!!"
"he won't, unless i let him out."
"let him out then!" you finally retort. you see yuuji falter, you understand his hesitance. but if sukuna wanted to hurt you, he would have already, wouldn't he?
"okey, okey. just be careful alright?" he sends you a stern look. all you could so is nod as you prepare yourself for another showdown with the king of curses.
and once he stands before you in all his glory, you realize this is a bit easier than last time. after all, he was the one who wanted to see you.
"i thought you said, 'never seek me out again'" you make a terrible impression of his previous order.
a big mistake.
you blink and you're pushed on the ground, his hand wrapped around your throat. he was only lightly squeezing, but with his intimidating form leering over you, his fangs barred inches away from your face, you can't help the fear that crawls into your senses.
"know your place, brat." he whispers into your ear. goosebumps erupt against your skin. you can't believe how fast he was, you didn't even see him coming.
you glare at him, trying to wiggle out, but he overpowered you compeltely.
"let me go," you meekly say, looking up into his eyes.
he had already been staring at you intensely, no, not you. your lips. you suck in a shaky breath. in this compromising position, it wasn't difficult to assume what he was thinking about.
"what are you doing?" your voice, barely a whisper.
and then his eyes look up at you, focused on you. "if you'll allow me, i'll make you remember."
you don't know how to answer because you don't understand what he's saying. you also can't form words, they stay, stuck in your throat. and he can see you’re confused, so he decides to show you what he meant.
he leans his whole body in. his breath fans your face. his presence consumes you, he was everywhere. you couldn’t nt ignore it even if you wanted, how his lips were grazing yours, how you knew if you didnt stop this—
you turn your face away. "no!"
"you don't really have a choice, sweetheart."
and you really don't know what he's going to do to you. and you're really scared. and you're trapped, and helpless. and you're wondering why yuuji isn't switching back. you can only close your eyes and await what's to come.
you were expecting a lot of things, but sukuna gently kissing you wasn't one of them.
his rough lips move against yours. a small peck, at first, as if testing, and when you relax into his touch, (a rush of warmth curses through you, as if this is exactly where you need to be), he molds his lips on yours. his hands that had left your neck land softly on your cheeks, in your hair.
and when his gentle ministrations continue, you finally understand what he meant.
you think he had imbued some cursed energy into the kiss, because suddenly the memories come crashing on you.
you see yourself, but not quite you, loving him. not his human form, no. you had loved him as a curse. you see yourself living with him, chastising him against hurting humans. and he listens. for a decade you lived together.
until he had gotten you pregnant. and that's when the jujutsu sorceress of that era had come together. they had ignored your dallying with the curse because it had benefitted them. the biggest threat to them had been tamed by you, after all.
by when they heard news of your condition it was decided. you could not bring his child into the world. a hybrid, an abnormality. they couldn't risk this unpreceded situation from unfolding.
and so they drowned you when sukuna was away, with your unborn child. sukuna came back to find your body floating lifeless ashore. and the sorceress ambushed him then.
in his grief he was overpowered, and despite killing every last one of them, he was still sealed away.
when the vision stop and you're back to reality, you come face to face with a sukuna watching you intently, with concern flashing on his face.
tears were streaming down your face.
"the world shall never again know peace shall she be reborn.'' he whispers. "a mother's wrath born and unseen, awaiting endless moon cycles to be unleashed."
"that's the rest of the prophecy." he pulls away completely, leaving you lying there, consumed by an overwhelming feeling of grief. "they believe you will avenge what happened once i restore your memories, this is why they're discussing what to do with you."
sukuna might have pulled away, doing nothing but staring as your tears fell, but it was taking him everything not to wrap his arms around you, to comfort you and tell you he'll never let those bastards touch you. never again.
and then you sit up and look at him, with those big eyes he had once worshipped. you don't say anything, processing what he had just told you.
the elders want you dead because of a baseless 'prophecy'? how absurd. how utterly foolish.
but you can't help but be scared. they had killed you once. or, even if that wasn't really you, it certainly felt like it. you rub your shoulders, trembling and whimpering.
and then sukuna can't hold back anymore. he makes his way to you, and takes both your hands with his. he squeezes tightly, tighter than he intended.
"no one will hurt you again, or i'll kill them." he says, and watches as your eyes widen, as the tension in your shoulders dissipates, even if by just a little.
because you know. you can feel the truth in his world. he was't going to let anyone harm you ever again. and you weren't sure if that thought ought to comfort you or scare you to the bone.
a/n: i might do a part 2??? there’s just so much sexual tension between them that deserves to be….written about XD

Tumblr media
It was a late Wednesday evening and you were finishing up the last of your paperwork for the day. It was a typical day as a family practitioner, you had spent the day doing checkups on children, completing physicals, and ensuring that all your patients were in good health. You loved your job as the local doctor in your small town. You knew all of your patients relatively well, considering you had grown up there. You left your small town at the age of 18, moving to the big city in order to pursue your dreams as a doctor. The pace of the city was dramatically different compared to where you had grown up. There was always something happening in the city, whereas in the small town there wasn’t much other than country and small town gossip. You enjoyed the city for a while, experiencing everything it had to offer, but then you decided you needed to slow back down, so when you graduated from medical school you moved back home and opened your clinic. At first it was strange, treating the adults that helped raise you, but you quickly became accustomed to it. They constantly praised you and told you stories from when you were younger.
“I’m so proud of you, Y/N.” Miss Misuzu said. “I remember when you were just a little thing, running around and getting into trouble. Now you’re all grown up and a doctor! That’s really amazing.”
You smiled fondly at the memory. Miss Misuzu was always one of your favorite people to be around when you were younger. You didn’t have the best home life, but Misuzu was always there for you. She had practically raised you. She would always have cookies and other snacks when you’d go over to her house. She’d constantly invite you over for dinner, making sure you were properly fed. Sometimes, she’d even let you help her. You’d spend hours at Misuzu’s just to get away from home. There were even times, she’d let you spend the night when you didn’t want to go home. She’d tell you stories as you went to bed and when you had nightmares she made you tea and comforted you until you fell asleep. Misuzu was your family.
You were letting the memories play through your head, smiling fondly when a loud noise startled you. At first you thought you’d imagined it, after all there was never any commotion in your small town, when you heard a loud thud come from the front of your clinic. You grabbed a scalpel from the tray beside you and started to creep to the front of the clinic.
Could someone be trying to rob me? You thought to yourself.
That didn’t make any sense. Everyone from here knew you had nothing of value at the clinic. Even if they wanted drugs, you didn’t have any here. Unless, it was someone from outside of town? But again, that didn’t make sense, people didn’t come out here. You’re rationalizing your thoughts, trying to get the courage to round the corner. After a moment, you take a deep breath and round the corner.
“Oh my god.” You say as you drop your scalpel. There on the floor of your clinic was a blonde haired man, wearing a strange black uniform, bleeding out. “Oh my god, oh my god.”
You try to regain your composure and quickly rush to his side. You had spent two years in the ER, but you decided it wasn’t for you on account of your tendency to freak out. You quickly flip the man over trying to identify the source of his bleeding. As your eyes are wandering his body, looking for the source, your eyes focus on his right lower abdomen and notice the blood pooling there. You quickly look around the room, trying to remember where your scissors and towels were. You rush over to your drawers and cabinets, flinging them open and then grabbing the scissors and towels. You start snipping his shirt away at the area of the wound and rip the fabric off, so you can get a better look at it. When the fabric is cleared away you look at the wound in shock. You hadn’t seen a wound like that since your hospital days. You eye the man again, just who was this guy? All of a sudden, he sits up abruptly, coughing up copious amounts of blood. You can feel the anxiety and fear begin creeping up in your body, but you do your best to shove it back down. You had a job to do and you weren’t going to let this man die. You reach for the towels and move to place them firmly on his wound, but his hand grabs your wrist stopping you. He just shakes his head.
“You can’t be serious? You’re bleeding out. I need to stop the bleeding.” You say as you try to press the towels to his wound. His grip on your wrist tightens. You look down at him holding your wrist and then back up at him. That’s when you notice them for the first time.
Despite his mouth being somewhat covered in blood, you can still make out the peculiar tattoos surrounding his lips. You look at them, taking them in and then gaze up at his eyes. Your breath hitches in your throat. He had the most mesmerizing amethyst eyes. Even though they were laced with pain, you were absolutely captivated by them.
“Who are you?” You whisper. He goes to open his mouth, but words don’t come out, instead he starts coughing again, more blood spilling out his mouth. That instantly snaps you out of whatever daze you’re in and you’re back into doctor mode.
“Hold that there.” You say pushing the towel on to his lower abdomen. Then, you take another towel and begin wiping away the blood at his mouth.
“Do you think you can move? I have a bed back there. Once you get there I can take a better look at you.” You say eyeing him once more. He nods faintly and then starts moving to get up. You help him carefully and lead him to the bed. Once he’s on the bed, you get everything you need to start checking his vitals. Despite him bleeding so much, his vitals didn’t indicate that there was a large issue at hand. His blood pressure was low, but that made sense considering his blood loss. The wound must not have been as bad as you initially thought. You really did have a tendency to overreact.
“Okay. I’m going to need to clean your wound and check to see if there’s any other significant injuries.” You say firmly. He goes to protest, but winces and settles back down. You take that as the okay to go ahead. You take a few supplies out of your cabinets and drawers, then sit on your examination chair and wheel over to him.
“Can you take off your shirt?” You ask, eyeing him. He gives you a look.
“You can either take it off, or I can cut it off you. I’m going to attend to your wound.”
You feel his violet eyes boring into yours and part of you wants to look away, but you refuse. You’re not sure how long the two of you spend in a staring contest, but he finally sighs and reluctantly pulls off his shirt. Even though he struggles getting it off, wincing, he pulls it off and sets it on his lap. You swallow deeply as you take in his toned torso covered in bruises. He was slender, but that didn’t stop him from being muscular. Pushing the distraction away, your eyes go back to the wound on his lower abdomen. The bleeding had lessened, so it must not have been as deep as you initially thought. Some muscles had been torn through, but there wasn’t any damage to vital organs. Even still, he needed a hospital. You didn’t have the equipment necessary to completely attend to that kind of wound. You clean his wound and patch it up the best you can, then you go on to check his ribs for any broken ribs. By the bruising and puffiness you assumed at least a few of them were broken, but to confirm you rain your fingers across his torso, checking to see if any were actually broken. You watched him wince as you touched to check them. You gave him an apologetic look in return. From what you could feel, two or three of them were most likely broken, but you didn’t have an x-ray machine to confirm. You let out a sigh.
“You really need a hospital. Your wound needs more attention than I can give it and you have a few broken ribs. I don’t even know how you’re breathing comfortably, right now.” You say. “I can drive you to-“ He cuts you off with a shake of his head.
“You can’t be serious. You need a hospital. I can’t take care of you here.” He just shakes his head again in response. You let out an exasperated sigh. “I could lose my license for this, you know?” The man just looks at you with those violet eyes and doesn’t say anything.
“Fine. I’m going to get you a bottle of wat-“ You stop yourself and remember how he was coughing up blood. “I need to check one last thing. Open your mouth.” The man raises an eyebrow at you.
“You were coughing up blood. I need to take a look at your throat.” You say pulling out a small light. “Say ‘ahhh’.”
The man opens his mouth and stick out his tongue and you’re taken aback by the tattoo on his tongue. Who was this guy? You shake off the thought and go back to examining his mouth.
“Can you speak?” You ask as you click your light off.
“Salmon.” It comes out hoarsely and you’re not sure you completely hear him.
“Salmon?” Had he ended up with some kind of concussion too? It was possible, especially with the other wounds he had, so you move to start giving him a concussion examination. He stops you before you’re able to start.
“You could have a concussion. I need to give you a proper examination.” He shakes his head profusely. It was starting to drive you mad.
“Fine. I’m going to get you a bottle of water.” You say as you rise from your chair. “Try not to move too much.” You’re moving out the room before he even has the chance to nod.
You go to grab a bottle of water from the small refrigerator you have when your eyes are drawn to the pools of blood on your floor. They were beginning to dry and you knew you’d have to clean them up sooner rather than later. The thoughts of the evening came rushing back to you. A strange man had stumbled into your clinic bleeding and your first instinct should’ve been to call someone for help, then attend to his wounds, not let him stay in your small clinic, where you were completely alone with him. Who knows what he could’ve done to you? Or what he could still do to you. Honestly, not much considering his state, but still you never really knew. But thinking about it, you felt there was no way he’d do something to you. You couldn’t quite explain it. Despite the fact you didn’t even know him, he just didn’t seem like the type of person that would hurt others. He seemed more like a protector. You had gotten so lost in your thoughts that you forgot about the glass of water. You quickly regain your composure, go to grab a bottle of water and some of the nutrient crackers you kept.
“Hey, I got your-“ You stop when you see him slumped over sleeping. Probably passed out from exhaustion.
You set the bottle and the crackers on the bedside table, so that they’re there for him in case he wakes up. You try to will yourself to leave, but there’s just something captivating about him. The slow rise and fall of his chest as he breathes, the way his lips are slightly parted, how his blonde hair falls gently over his face. Your eyes slowly take in his captivating form, admiring the details of his full eyelashes and the curve of his cheekbones. Then your eyes return to his lips, still slightly stained red with blood. They looked so soft, you wanted to reach out and trace them with your finger. Trace the lines and circles of his tattoos framing his lips. You took the time to take in his slender, but toned figure. Your eyes traced over all the curves of his muscles on his arms, torso, and abdomen. He was beautiful, even with bandages wrapped around him and the bruises littered across him. You watch as he shivers and then stirs a little. Oh right. He was probably cold. How could you forget something as simple as that? You move to the cabinet and pull out a blanket and then set it carefully over him. He subconsciously embraces the newfound warmth and you smile softly.
Once you’re convinced that he’s settled, you move to clean the blood off the floor. You get the necessary supplies and begin scrubbing away. It wasn’t a lot of blood, but you hadn’t seen this much since your days in the hospital. You were so glad the day your residency in the hospital finished. There was this dark, sullen feeling you got when you worked there. It just wasn’t the place for you. You scrubbed away at the floor until all that was left was your reflection sparkling in the freshly cleaned floors. Almost as if the blood was never there in the first place. As your putting everything back away, you let out a tired sigh. You glance at the clock and note that it’s a little past midnight. You were exhausted. It was probably in part due to the amount of stress your body had experienced in such a short time, but where were you going to go? You couldn’t go home and leave him here by himself. What if something happened? You weren’t sure you’d be able to handle the emotional weight of that. So, you decided to curl up on the sofa in the front room and get some sleep.
The next morning you awake, startled by the sound of knocking on the door. You sit up quickly and try to regain an understanding of your surroundings. You blink sluggishly, taking in the familiar light colored walls of your clinic, the pictures, and the various plants. Your eyes wander around the room, recalling the night before. So all of that had really happened. You’re reminded of what woke you when the knocking at the door continues.
“Y/N? Are you in there? It’s Misuzu.” She calls from the door.
“Just a second!” You call back. You quickly stand up and straighten your clothes before making your way to the door.
“Good morning Miss Misuzu. How are you?” You say smiling.
“Good morning, hun. I baked some bread last night and thought I’d bring you some. I stopped by your house, but you weren’t there. Thought you might be here and decided to drop by.” You took note of the basket in her hand and smiled warmly.
“That’s so kind of you Miss M. Did you want to come inside for a little bit?” You ask, moving out the way to let her in. You were secretly wishing she would say no. Any other time, you’d be happy to sit and chat, but on account of your friend in the back you really couldn’t let her in.
“No, no I have some things I need to do. And I’m sure you’ve probably got work to do. Here, I hope you enjoy it.” Misuzu says handing you the basket. “Just bring the basket back sometime later, okay?” You smile warmly and accept the basket.
“Will do. Thank you so much.” You say gratefully. She gives you a small wave and goes on her way. When she’s out of your sight, you close the door quickly making your way to the back of the clinic.
When you round the corner you almost drop the basket from shock. The bed was completely empty, and it wasn’t just that, it was made to perfection as if no one had even been there. And you would’ve believed no one had been there if it wasn’t for the blanket from last night neatly folded at the end of the bed with a note atop it. You pick up the note gently and open it.
Thank you - Toge Inumaki was scrawled across in the paper in a messy script.
You were left dumbfounded. There was now a name for the man you helped last night. Toge Inumaki. You practiced the name a few times, seeing how each syllable ran off your tongue. You run through the details of the night and move to put the basket and note down. Images of Inumaki collapsed on your floor and pools of blood flashed in your head. You were left with so many questions. How had he managed to leave? When did he leave? He wasn’t in any condition to go off somewhere on his own. And how had he gotten the wound in the first place? Also, he said “salmon”. Just what was that about? So much for getting the answers you wanted.
Days passed and you hadn’t seen Inumaki again. It was almost as if that night hadn’t even happened, as if Inumaki and the whole incident had been a figment of your imagination. If it wasn’t for the note, you’d been holding onto it since that morning, you would believe you made the whole thing up. You still couldn’t make sense of it, not just what had happened, but him. Something about Inumaki had a hold on you. You kept envisioning those gorgeous amethyst eyes in your head over and over again. The lines of his tattoos, surrounding his lips, the circular tattoo on his tongue. How his blonde hair fell perfectly around his face. You remembered how peaceful he looked when he was sleeping, the low rise and fall of his chest. You kept playing the night over and over in your head, wanting to remember all the little details. You shake your head and go back to cleaning up the clinic. It was still relatively early afternoon, but you had seen all of your patients for the day and were ready to head home. You’re putting the last of everything away when you hear the door open.
“Just a second.” You call to the door. You’re trying to put the last of your things up when you hear a loud clutter. “What on earth-“
You stop what you’re doing and move swiftly to the front of the clinic. You instantly got flashbacks to that night. There he was, collapsed on your floor just like that night. He was sprawled on the floor, knocked out cold. Unlike the last time, there wasn’t any blood. Well not any you could see right away. You quickly rush to his side and try to flip him over. Once you flip him over you note that there is blood surrounding his mouth. You move to get all of the equipment needed to check his vitals. For the most part, his vitals come out as normal, there were a few things that were high, but nothing to be concerned about.
“Just what were you doing, Inumaki?” You say, gently brushing his hair out of his face. You take in his peaceful state for a moment before taking the dampened towel, and carefully wiping the blood from his lips.
You wanted to move him to the bed, it wasn’t comfortable on those hard tiles, but you weren’t going to be able to move him by yourself. Instead, you go to grab the blanket from before and a pillow. You carefully lift Inumaki’s head and slide the pillow under, before resting it back down. Then, you take the blanket and cover him. There was no telling how long he’d be out. It could be four minutes, it could be four hours.
While Inumaki was out, you used the time to return to your cleaning and closing up the clinic for the day. You still had a few chart updates to do, so you took the time to do that. You hear Inumaki begin to store slightly and watch as he begins to come to, blinking slowly trying to take in his surroundings and then as he sits up suddenly on high alert.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay. It’s just me.” You say trying to calm him down. He’s staring at you with wide eyes and then as he takes in your features, you watch as he visibly relaxes.
“You were out for a while. Here, drink this.” You say handing him a bottle of water. Inumaki takes it and gives a nod of thanks before unscrewing the cap and chugging it down. “Hey, slow down. It’s not good to drink that fast.” Inumaki ignores you, finishing the bottle quickly. He lets out an exasperated sigh when he’s done and then smiles at you warmly. You immediately become flustered and want to turn away, but you force yourself to stay facing him. You could finally ask him all the questions that have been clouding your brain.
“Inumaki.” You say capturing his attention.
You pause for a moment, thinking about the right question. The one that would best answer all your questions. You rack your brain for the right question and settle on the one you had asked all those nights ago.
“Who are you?”
You watch as his brows knit together, taking in your question. The two of you sit in silence for a while. You watch Inumaki carefully, watching his every movement. Inumaki opens his mouth to speak, but then quickly shuts it frowning.
“I guess you don’t have to tell me, but I’d appreciate you telling me. You know, on account of me saving your life and all.” You say in attempt to ease the tension. Inumaki shakes his head in response.
“Okay. I understand if you don’t-“ Inumaki shakes his head again, this time more violently. “Wait, so you do want to tell me?” Inumaki nods in agreement, but looks frustrated.
“Okay.” You reply. He was acting strangely. Maybe it was due to the concussion from before.
Inumaki pulls out his phone, taps a few times, and then hands it to you. It’s opened to a new contact page. You look at him confused.
“You want me to put my number in?” You ask tilting your head to the side. Inumaki nods, points to himself, makes a typing gesture with his fingers, then points to you. “You’re going to text me? Why do you want to text me?” You’re still confused at this point. Inumaki slumps down in his spot.
“Okay, okay, I’ll put my number in, but I’m still confused.” You say.
You type your contact info into his phone quickly, and then hand it back to Inumaki. Inumaki takes it and moves his fingers across the screen swiftly. You didn’t know a person could type that fast. All of a sudden you hear your phone ding. You pull it out of your pocket and see a text from an unknown number.
I wish I could explain, but I can’t :( I’m sorry
Your eyes dart across the screen and then to Inumaki. You mind starts to flood with why he couldn’t possibly tell you. You think about the wound he had from the first night, his multiple bruises, the way he was coughing up blood, and the tattoos surrounding his lips and on his tongue. Your eyes widen at your new revelation.
“Oh my god, are you in a gang?” You say, sitting up straight. Inumaki looks at you for a second and then he starts laughing. Laughing. The sound catches you off guard, but then your heart flutters. Suddenly, you want nothing more than to hear that sound over and over again.
“Why are you laughing? How is being in a gang funny?”
Inumaki gets his laughing under control, coughing a little bit, and types something else on his phone. You look down at your phone to see a new message.
No lolol. That’d be interesting though.
You eye him carefully, trying to sense a lie. He smiles at you in return and you feel something in your heart flutter.
“You’re really not in a gang?” Inumaki’s smile widens as he shakes his head. “Okay, then what else is there to be so secretive about?” Your phone buzzes again.
Can’t say.
“Fine. Why are you texting me, though? Did something happen to your throat? Do you want me to take a look at it?” You ask, genuinely concerned. Inumaki shakes his head.
Long story. Maybe I’ll tell you another time :)
“Okay.” You reply. You were curious, Inumaki had ignited something in your brain. You wanted to know more about him. That’s when you realized the two of you were still sitting on the floor. Inumaki must’ve realized too, because he stood up and offered his hand to you.
“Thank you.” You say as he helps you up.
You take in his violet eyes, they were sparkling and you could see the happiness in his eyes. A great contrast from what you had seen before, when they were laced with pain. You glanced down to his lips, looking at the tattoos beside them once more. Inumaki seemed to notice this and zipped his jacket up, covering the lower half of his face.
“I’m sorry.” You say looking away from him. “I didn’t mean to stare.” You really didn’t mean any harm. You were just intrigued by them. By him.
You can feel Inumaki’s eyes on you and you want to hide away from his gaze. You hear his phone buzz and watch him as he checks the notification. Inumaki lets out a sigh catching your attention. He gestures to the door.
“Oh do you have to leave?” You ask. Inumaki nods and then starts walking to the door. “Are you going to stop by again?” Inumaki stops when he reaches the door and turns back to you. Inumaki smiles with his eyes, holds his phone out and shakes it side to side.
“Okay, I’ll text you.” You say smiling back. Inumaki gives a small wave and then slides out the door.
Later that night, you were getting ready for bed when your phone buzzed next to you. You finished brushing your teeth and then picked up the phone to see who it was.
toge inumaki
Guess who \( ̄▽ ̄)/
You giggle and type your reply,
how’d you get this number?
Your phone buzzes barely a few seconds later

this is taking so much longer than i thought. writing sukuna is so hard
thinking of writing a sukuna scenario where he unexpectedly saves you when you’re in danger (he forces yuuji to switch), because you’re the incarnation of the woman he used to love back when he was human…hmmm

"will you spend your life with me?"
Tumblr media
TIGHNARI CONFESSING HIS FEELINGS TO YOU.
synopsis: of how tighnari avoids you once he realises he has feelings for you. because fennec foxes mate for life, what guarantee does he have that you would want that from him?
you were standing at the edge of ghandharva ville, explaining to a merchant the safest routes he should take, when you felt eyes on you.
you knew exactly who it was. so, you continue on explaining, ignoring the burning holes you felt at the back of your head. you turn your attention back towards the merchant, finally ending your explanation and biding him safe travels.
you sigh once he turns around and leaves, glad to be over with your planned daily tasks. as soon as you have that thought, however, an all-too familiar voice calls out your name.
"yes, master tighnari?"
your voice drips of venom, and with your eyes looking anywhere but at him, you fail to notice how he winces at your bitter reply, how his ears slowly droop and tail stop all movement (he couldn't control it from swishing once he approaches you, he hadn't spoken a word to you in over a week).
you cross your arms over your chest and look away. truly, you weren't trying to be mean, but how can you look at him? when he made you feel things, you'd never even imagined possible. when he had you wrapped around his finger, only to suddenly decide he doesn't want your company anymore?
or that's the theory you had come up with, anyways. you knew you had feelings for tighnari within weeks of meeting him, and you thought you two were only growing closer, forming a nice friendship. until all of a sudden, you didn't get to see him anymore. he was suddenly so busy, unable to meet you. all your patrols together had been altered, and it had gotten to a point where an entire week had passed without you getting as much as a whiff from this green-eyed man you adored so much.
another theory would be that you were simply irrelevant to him, and he was actually having extra workload and didn't even notice the sudden change.
but you should know better than to assume anything got past his keen eyes and ears.
tighnari clears his throat, and your grip on your arm tightens.
"a withering spot report has come in, you and i are going to deal with it." he simply says.
your grip tightens even more, feeling the sting of your nails digging into your skin. but it was all you could do to fight the bail forming at the back of your throat, the tears you can almost feel starting to gather in your eyes.
so this was it huh? acting like nothing has occurred. why would he act otherwise? you think bitterly, you're the only one with these stupid feelings.
you nod. "okey, i'll get my stuff." you mumble as you walk past him to your hut to grab your weapon.
you don't want to keep him waiting. even if your existence meant little to him, at the very least you didn't want him to think of you as incompetent.
you're quickly back at his side, and he begins to lead the way.
the treck is quiet. to him, perhaps, it was a normal silence. to you? you felt the pressure clogging your eyes, your breathing. this too much to you, to have him this close, yet so far away.
you refused to even look at him, even going as far as letting your hair fall over your face.
all too soon, though, he stops. "we're here." he says with a heavy tone.
you look up. you're both atop of a hill, looking down at the expense of sumeru forest. it's a beautiful sight, the wind gently carresing your neck, swaying your hair.
but as you turn around, scanning the horizon, you see no withering in sight.
"huh?" you let out in confusion, making the mistake of looking at him.
you fall silent.
he had already been looking at you. a heavy look on his face. his lips were drawn in sadness, his usual bright forest-green eyes focused in on you, the same way you saw him look when he was looking over a particular tough plant he was studying.
you swallow the lump in your throat, realizing how close he actually was, and realizing also, that seconds were passing, and he wasn't looking away.
"tighnari, what’s wrong?" you mumble, so low you barely even heard yourself. but you knew he heard you, what with the subtle flick of his ears at the sound of his name rolling off your tongue.
suddenly, he takes a step closer.
startling at his sudden movement, you squeal, backing away. what you forgot, however, was that you were standing at the very edge of a very steep cliff.
his hand reaches out and clasps around your wrist, a stern "careful!" escaping his lips. he pulls you roughly towards him away from the fall, and you find your face pressed securely into his chest.
you feel the heat creeping to your face, your breathing picking up. especially when you realise he wasn't making any moves to step away.
shyly, you pull away first.
"you need to watch where you're going," he says before you have the chance to speak. "seriously, (y/n), at this point, you'll end up dying a terrible death."
he was seriously reprimending you, huh? that was the most tighnari thing he could do. you sigh, ready to walk away, before he grabs both your hands with his.
bringing them up to his chest, he finally relaxes his face and smiles at you.
your breath catches in the back of your throat. you realise his smile is shy. his cheeks are tinted pink, and he was bouncing where he stood.
he seemed nervous.
"and i wouldn't want that," he continues. "because i care about you, so much."
you feel butterflies in your chest at his words, finding it hard to believe that he would say something like this, after weeks of indifference.
and because you suddenly remember exactly the effect his indifference had on you, you free yourself from his grasp, pushing yourself away from him. carefully, this time.
you don't miss the hurt that flashed on his face this time.
"you're being really mean, do you know that?" you want the words to sound confident, but they were barely a shaky whisper. your words flew freely with the soft breeze, confusing the fox boy before you.
"I-"
"no."
"no?"
you sigh. "what do you want from me, tighnari?" you finally ask. "there's no withering zone here, so why—?"
the answer you're seeking comes to you in the sound of rustling from behind tighnari.
"keep quiet," tighnari whispers, not unkindly. he turns and gently grabs your hand, leading you both to crouch down behind a large boulder.
you wanted to ask him what was going on, but it took only one look at him to keep quiet just like he had told you.
he was looking over the boulder at something, but it was the expression his face, the manner in which he was still holding your hand. there was a soft, warm smile on his face, as his fingers began to caress your own.
he looks at you with that peaceful expression and tilts his head towards the direction he was previously looking at.
confused, you follow his lead, craning yourself over the boulder.
you notice them immediately. tiny, playful, and impossibly cute. there were four of them.
four fennec foxes had climbed up the hill. the two cubs were rolling around, clearly playing together. their parents were not far away, cuddling together as they watched over their cubs.
you couldn't help the soft smile that pulled at your lips.
"relatives of yours?" you ask, offering the boy beside you a cheeky smile.
tighnari nudges your shoulder playfully. his eyes never leaves the happy family.
"they must have have wondered off from the desert," he whispers, voice low as to not alert the peaceful family. "i came across them three days ago."
suddenly, he squeezes your hand. but he continues to look ahead. "and it pains me say, but it took me to see them like this to realise that i can't stay away from you any longer."
your heart beats painfully against your chest, your face contorting into a mix of pain, hope, and something else you did not want to name just yet.
"(y/n)". he finally looks at you. his eyes were soft, the sad smile on his lips conveying his feelings perfectly. "i have made my choice to love you," he says. "there is nothing in this world i would want, if i don't have you by my side."
his whispers were so low, but filled with truth. you couldn't help but lean in, and he took you your positive reaction as a sign to continue.
he grabs your hands again, leaning in himself until his cheek rubs against yours. you let out a small laugh at the affectionate act. you'd just seen the cuddling fennec foxes doing exactly the same thing.
"and i am sorry it took me so long to tell you," he continues. "i want you, (y/n), all of you."
you open your eyes, tenderly meeting his soft gaze, "why then?" you're voice is lower than a whisper, but his keen ears hear you clearly. "why did you avoid me?"
his ears droop, fingers fiddling nervously with yours. "i want you for life, fennec couples get together once in a lifetime," he starts. "i didn't want to force you into making a decision like that."
your smile widens, as you nuzzle his nose affectionately. for a moment, until you laugh softly again. "force me?" you reply, "my dear tighnari, have you not heard of marriage?"
so this was why, you think happily. he wasn't indifferent to you, he loved you. he had chosen you to be his, the same way you had already chosen him. his place was fully reserved in your heart, and you knew nothing in the world would ever change that.
despite your playful jabs, your face falls into seriousness. "i would spend my lifetime with you," you say.
his breath catches in the back of his throat, and he holds you dearly, tightening his hold on your hands. as if you had eased all his worries, told him the exact thing he had dreamed of.
countless nights he had spent tossing and turning, thinking of you. of what he should do. he knew his instincts, if he should take on a mate one day, it would be for life. it was a responsibility he had shouldered all his life, one he didn't want to impose on you.
not when you were this lively, this young.
but one look in your eyes and all his fears were thrown out of the window.
in return he offers you the most beautiful smile you'd ever seen. letting go of your hands, he quickly cradles your face. "my dear (y/n)," he says through his smile, "what have i ever done to deserve you?"
he speaks before closing the distance. pressing his lips against yours. he sighs in contentment at the feeling, and you feel yourself flushing.
you kiss him back, without a second thought, butterflies dancing wildly in your stomach. your hands reach to wrap around his neck as he pulls you closer, travelling to gently massage his ears.
and when you hear it, you laugh, pulling away.
"what?" he pouts, chasing after your lips, but you only laugh more as you deny him.
"you're purring," you admit.
pink tints his cheeks, a defeated, shy smile briefly sent your way before you kiss him, enjoying his happy purrs. you'd never felt happier too.
and unbeknowst to both of you, as you continue kissing under the blue sky, the pack of foxes stops whatever they were doing and gaze at you, tilting their heads at tighnari, and not considering you a danger at all. after all, how can they? when even small animals just as them can feel the pure love and affection travelling through the gentle breeze.

INAMUKI TOGE⸻”BY YOUR SIDE, THERE IS NO BETTER PLACE TO BE.”
toge would be, simply put, the best boyfriend you’ll ever have. as we all know, he has a habit of putting others first. and that’s when it comes to strangers. so, when it comes down to his lover, you’re in for x1000 caring intensified.
he fell for you first. it wasn’t love at first sight per se, but he couldn’t deny the immediate attraction at first glance. you were radiant, a first year with very little experience handling curses. but even despite all the dangers and tragedies you faced, you always seemed to hold a positive outlook.
when you first met him, you didn’t know about his curse. You had never seen him before. you were rushing to meet yuuji for your daily practice session. turning the corner, you bumped into something.
immediately two hands reached out to steady you. Startled, you looked up. to see the cutest boy you’ve ever laid eyes on. with the prettiest, purple eyes.
you rushed out your apologies, rambling on and on like you always did when you were nervous. “oh I am sorry I wasn’t watching where I was going⸻”
“shake shake.”
you blinked twice. salmon? what does that mean? and then it clicked. his uniform, he was a student. he didn’t look that much older than you. oh! a second year!
proud at your genius, you smile brightly. “oh! you must be a second year! I only know yuuta and I heard there’s a panda in your class, whom I would very much like to meet, but I didn’t have any chance to come say hi because of gojo-sensei!"
“he keeps our hands so full. i’ve only been here for two weeks and whew the curses I’ve seen. anyways, what’s your name? we should definitely hang out some time!”
when you were only met with his silence, you felt heat beginning to crawl into your cheeks.
he looked at you, for a moment, and you felt his eyes drop a little bit, as if in sadness.
“oh, I- sorry⸻.” you mumbled, with your head dropped walking past him.
that is until his hand wraps around your wrist, stopping you in your tracks. you look back towards him, a question on your face.
he seemed hesitant then, a first. then his response came in form of him unzipping his hoodie with his free hand, revealing to you his gorgeous face. he was even more beautiful than he seemed. that’s the first thing you thought before you noticed the marks around his mouth.
he smiled apologetically, and you felt like the dumbest person in the world.
the inumaki clan, of course. salmon. of course.
slowly, you turn to face him, placing your hand gently on his that was still holding your wrist.
you squeeze his hand gently. a small apology. but also because with the way he was looking at you, you were left speechless.
after that encounter, you ask megumi about him. he tells you how he communicates using rice ball ingredients, but also how they all learned sign language for him.
it doesn’t strike you as something difficult to do, so you set out on learning whatever you can in whatever time you have before you see him again.
it all started from there. the next time you saw him, you thought you were signing words, but you messed up the whole thing. his genuine laughter at your funny gestures rung through the open field, but his hand had come to land on your shoulder, smiling at you. thank you. you can clearly tell what he was trying to say.
you shared phone numbers, and that’s how you discovered his amazing personality. toge was funny, so funny, and he was not afraid to show you how he felt.
toge wasn’t shy with you. whether in texts or with how he acted with you in public. how he slung his arm over your shoulder, or leaned over you when there was something you wanted to show him. at first, you had assumed his physical touches were his way of communicating because of the lack of speech. however, it took you only to see how he acted with Maki or anyone else to immediately turn down that theory.
he was always turning up, always seeking you out. He’d text you during lunch breaks to join him and ask you to train with him. (much to yuuji’s dismay at first, to have lost his training partner. but the pink-haired boy was a hopeless romantic who realized what was going on from the first glance and backed away.)
you two grew close, forming quite a special bond. but it was still a friendship. to him, perhaps, you thought. but to you?
the way your heart did a mini leap when you laid eyes on him. How you’d clutch your phone all the time and jump to check it whenever the ping sounded. hoping it was him that texted. and the stupid, ear-to-ear smile that you would sport whenever it was him.
both of you were obvious, however, to how you felt. and you, how could you not see how much he cherished you??? with the way his eyes softened upon the mere mention of your name. panda pointed it out once, teasing him non-stop about his crush on you, which earned him a stern, “stop talking,” from his silver-haired friend.
later on that night, panda had burst into toge’s room, a hand clutched dramatically to his chest. “you cursed me!” he feigned a swoon, “and it took hours for its effects to subdue, all for (y/n), my friend! We must get you two together.”
and that was how his five-step plan to woo you started.
however, unbeknownst to them, you were sent on a mission that day. where you encountered a grade one curse, where all that should have been there was a flock of grade four curses.
you tried your best, you really did, but you were severely overpowered. before collapsing, however, you were able to send out a request for aid.
toge and panda were immediately notified, their little gossip session turning upside down once they received the summons on their phone.
toge had never felt this stressed. he knew you were capable, but even he would have trouble facing a grade one curse on his own. he sat in the back of the car, legs bouncing up and down with both fists clutched so tightly he was sure his fingers would leave bruises. but he did not care, you were probably hurt, and maybe, probably…no, he refused to even think it
and this stupid driver, can’t he go any faster? he thought bitterly, and in his anger, almost spoke out the words.
panda’s hand on his bouncing leg stopped him. he snapped his head to the left, looking at him.
panda was worried about him, it was clear as day. “She’ll be fine.” he finally said.
toge’s breath was shaky on its way out.
and they had arrived just in time. his eyes had barely registered what it was seeing, the curse, crushing you in its slimy, disgusting hand⸝your face, bloody and unconscious ⸝
“let her go.” his yell was filled with fear, and anger. the next moment you were in his hands, he caught you before you could fall.
toge was seeing red.
“die.”
the curse burst into flames and disappeared, a grade one curse dealt with in mere seconds, before it could even realize what was going on.
panda stared on at the scene, at how his friend set down the girl he loves down with shaky hands. at how softly he cradled her face, a lone tear making its way down his cheek.
and toge…how he wished he could call out to you, he wanted to say your name, he wanted to so badly. to comfort you. to apologize for not being here sooner. for not murdering the higher ups who stupidly messed up your mission.
that’s when he made a vow to always protect you. he hated it, how helpless he felt just sitting here, waiting to arrive to shoko. he hated how his hands were stained red because it was your blood. you, the most precious, bright and innocent thing in his world. the person who made his curse gnaw at him at every waking moment. because he wanted to be a full person for you, he wanted to give you the best, he wanted to say your name, to speak words of love into your skin, to tell you how he felt under a starry night as you gazed up at him in those beautiful (e/c) eyes of yours.
but now, as he held your shaking body in his arms, he was ready to lay down his life just to see you open your eyes again. and that’s when he closed his own, making a prayer to whoever was listening.
***
you opened your eyes to a wooden ceiling. a blurry vision greeted you, but it was slowly improving with every passing moment.
groaning, you tried to remember how you’d gotten here. you remembered a mission, a bunch of grade four curses that you were sent to deal with, and then⸻
oh
it had come out of nowhere. you had immediately sent out for help, but that’s only just before it had gotten to you. it was impossibly fast, and it had been toying with you. If it had decided to deal with you at once, you suspected you wouldn’t have been alive by now.
you wondered who had saved you for a brief moment, but you quickly shook the thought away, realising your main priority was to get up and start training. you had to get stronger to avoid further accidents like this.
you also wondered, if toge had been worried about you, or if he’d come to visit you. you cursed these thoughts that were never ending.
but your answer came faster than you thought. you’d barely sat up, when you noticed him.
he had pulled out a chair just next to your bed. His hair was ruffled, as if he hadn’t brushed it in a while. His head was drooped low, soft breathes escaping his lips. but most importantly⸻
oh god how did you not notice before?
his hand holding yours on the mattress. your fingers intertwined.
you flushed; eyes fixated on the sight. your heart beat loudly against your chest. you suspected, if you had been connected to a monitor, it would definitely had alerted the nurses with how fast your heart was beating.
“toge-kun…” you whispered, eyes softening as you looked at him. what did you do to deserve a person like him in your life?
you startled however when he woke up, purple eyes slowly fluttering open until they met yours.
he looked at you for a moment, mouth hanging open.
before his eyes widened and he pulled you in into a bone-crushing hug.
you hugged back with all the strength you could muster. The warmth that enveloped you, the peace he summoned. It was the best feeling, a feeling you were growing drunk on.
you don’t know how long you stayed like that, you didn’t want to pull away, neither did he, it seemed, but after some time, you knew you had to.
you slowly pulled away, but your faces were inches apart. Your eyes met his lips, his breath fanning your face. they then travelled to his eyes, to find them glossed over with tears.
his hand reached out to cup your cheek, and you closed your eyes, leaning in to his touch.
“toge-kun,” you sighed in bliss. he had you, body and soul. you loved him with all you were. you suddenly felt this drive to show him, to love him, to tell him.
with both your hands your grabbed his hand, glancing at him before you placed a feather-kiss on his knuckles.
his eyes softened. a blush cutely adorning his pale cheeks. smiling, he took hold of your hand and did the same to you.
you couldn’t help but smile in return, both at his actions and at the heat travelling to his ears. was it possible, that you had the same effect on him as he did you?
it didn’t need another thought, you slowly parted your lips, “toge…i-I lov⸻”
his palm pressed itself on your mouth, silencing you. He frowned at you, shaking his head.
confused, and a little hurt, you obeyed, watching in confusion as he pulled out his phone.
his eyes narrowed as he scrolled on his screen for a moment, before a satisfied “ah” left his lips once he found what he was looking for.
his finger hovered above the screen, hesitating.
if you thought he was blushing before, he now looked as red as a tomato bro.
before you could think any further, a determined look set on his face. he pressed on the screen.
and whatever you had expected, this wasn’t it.
his voice played out, but not in the way you only heard it ever saying rice ball ingredients, no, it was his beautiful voice speaking, speaking to you.
“i thought a lot about how I am going to do this,” the recording started, “and this seems like the only way.”
you felt tears welling up in your eyes. you knew the strain saying one word had on him, to do this? it must have been excruciating, and he must have gone somewhere deserted, so he wouldn’t risk hurting anyone.
the recording ended there, but on his phone, you could see two more, each barely a few seconds long. you knew. he must have had to stop to take his cough medicine.
without realizing, you grabbed his hand, looking at him with so much love.
he pressed again.
silence for a few moments, then him taking a deep breath “……(y/n)”
treacherous tears spilled from your eyes, and you laughed, connected your forehead to his. closing your eyes as you continued to listen.
“…(y/n), my (y/n).”
“thank you for coming into my life, (y/n).”
the recording stopped.
his gentle touch on your chin made you open your eyes.
you startled. he was so close, one breath and your lips would touch. and he was looking at your lips, and you couldn’t help but look at his as he played the last recording. his lips moved in sync, and for one magical moment, it was as if he was speaking them to you.
“(y/n)…I love you.”
you smiled like an idiot, the smile he loves so much. laughing through your tears that were now flowing freely.
in another world, maybe you would’ve been able to talk, to share discussions and hear your name running off his tongue every day. but that other world wasn’t something you were looking for, or wasn’t even something you wanted.
because this couldn’t have been any closer to perfection. It was perfection. this moment, as he finally leaned in and pressed his lips to yours. as you kissed in a declaration of love, a promise to each other, like a warm blanket warming you during a cold night.
you kissed until you had to pull away to breathe, but he was already chasing after your lips. he captured them again with ease, his lips dancing with yours again. you couldn’t help but sigh in contentment as you wrap your hands around his neck. he pulls you closer by the waist until your chests are pressing together.
finally, after what seemed like a lifetime to you, but also what felt like too soon, you both pull away, gasping for air.
you met his eyes. his oh so beautiful eyes that looked at you like you were a miracle. his miracle.
uou chuckled; joyous laugh full of adoration. “you just had to say it first, didn’t you.”
he nodded, a sly smile on his lips.
“salmon.” he says.
you rubbed your nose with his, unable to do anything but smile as you admire him.
you peck his lips, meeting his eyes once more.
“I love you too. my cute salmon.”
a/n: can you tell that i am in love with this man.
