Mara, the tempter — diety of desire

Gleaming against the elegant embroidery of the room, the Queen's radiance mirrored that of a single star upon the horizon. Aquamarine eyes dance about the delicate finery of the ensemble, admiring the opulent elegance of her lady's taste. So far removed from the gaudy regalia of many of the youths blossoming into their roles at court. ❛ It is enchanting, ❜ Anavi beams. ❛ Yet refined. ❜ She tucks a stray lock of Amelia's hair away, in the back. ❛ Something that will command attention without overshadowing your own brilliance. ❜

She paces slowly, hating before her dear friend. ❛ Worry not, tonight will be just another moment in history soon. One I know you will look back on fondly. ❜ The corners of her eyes crinkle slightly beneath the anguine gaze. ❛ Now come, let us enjoy ourselves before the guests arrive. ❜

     "Is it too much?" Her voice was hushed, nothing more than a whisper. The dress, the jewels, the finery, even for her was more than she was used to. Queen or not, it was more than how she would ever normally fashion herself in. She of course knows that tonight, it was not too much, seeing how she was aiming to make a point. Truthfully it was less about the clothing and finery she was now draped in, but the doubt she felt, as she the first time in a long time she is suddenly entirely out of her element. However, Anavi had long since been one of the few Amelia couldn't hide things from, so she knew better than to try.

Rey just Rey & Finn just Finn

Crackling through the ether, a violent energy seethes through the earth, setting his burgeoning senses ablaze. Drawn forward by the cosmic pull, he advances with caution —Saber ignited as he steps into the silhouette of @fcalty— Whose obsidian armor carves a gaping cavern in the vibrant forest scape ahead. Finn steadies his breath, allowing his intuition to take the lead. ❛ With that helmet, you might as well be a stormtrooper. Unless you're just too afraid to look me in the eye. ❜

I probably posted this on my other blog, but the original vision for the sequels was for Rey to embody the spiritual path of the Resistance / light side and Finn to embody proactive half by serving as an icon and leader for change and liberation. I love that take and the prospect of Finn & Rey forging their own paths as blossoming jedi under two intertwined branches of thought.

Loyalty and devotion are characteristics that were drilled into the new generation of First Order stormtroopers and and personnel from infancy. We see both Finn & Hux being indoctrinated, in different ways, in the novels. And they are both exceptionally loyal to their crews. Finn was actually reprimanded by Phasma multiple times for trying to save his squad mate, instead of leaving him behind. ( Unlike Finn, Hux, and most of the rest of the FO, Phasma was not trained from childhood. She joined at 18. Which is why she doesn't have the same sense of loyalty ). The difference with Finn is that he separates loyalty to his comrades from loyalty to the First Order. His natural moral compass breaks his conditioning enough for him to flee. Finn's inclination toward loyalty persists after he leaves the First Order, we see that when he risks his life, against slim odds, to retrieve Rey from Starkiller Base. His kindness & sincerity restructures the conditioning into a compassionate type of loyalty.
