Perhaps it was the rum that had gotten Izzy so loose-lipped, or perhaps it was the company. The man had an undeniably dangerous air to him despite (or perhaps, aided by) his good looks and Izzy was inevitably drawn to it.
And company was something that he'd been lacking recently, both the bedroom variety and otherwise. As much as he appreciated the fact that he'd gotten out of that situation with his remaining limbs and his life intact, he to admit that he still missed the crew in all of their bizarre idiosyncrasies.
The other man's apparent enthusiasm for all the gory details reminded Izzy of Roach slightly and he felt his lips quirk involuntarily. Perhaps he was a medic himself or just had a penchant for butchery. Neither would be surprising in their field. "Wasn't exactly daisy fresh, no," he replied with a short, barking laugh. Truthfully, he remembered the pain more than the smell. Head-splitting, fucking excruciating--"Who were you sailing with, then?" Izzy asked, genuinely curious. All the Bonnet business had rather distracted him from everything else currently going on in the world of piracy, but perhaps he would recognize the name.

As it stood, I was basically at the mercy of his replacement, and he was far too green and too arrogant for his own good. I saw an out and I took it before he managed to maim me any further. The crew helped." He smiled to think of it, even now. He'd never expected them to treat him like, well, like one of them. "And what about you, eh? On shore leave? Haven't told me much about yourself yet."

Haven't told me much about yourself yet."
Izzy signaled the bartender for another round, humming thoughtfully as he processed the other pirate’s words. The younger man seemed to be spoiling for a fight, and Izzy would be lying if he told himself that the possible didn’t intrigue him at all. A tall, leather-clad man with a commanding air…well, he had a type. He couldn’t tell though, whether the frustration that the other man was expressing was directed more towards Izzy or Edward. He did his best to address both questions in one go. “He was my captain. The man who took my leg, I mean. I’ve always given him everything that he’s asked me for, everything that he wanted. That was my job, as far as I was concerned. Above myself, above the crew…Loyalty to him was always my priority. Well, you see how that worked out for me.”
