Fish frowned, annoyed that he would use her presence here as an excuse to ditch his potential-but-for-sure-was-gonna-happen date! She vaguely gestured to him that she could wait at a hotel, or go to the restaurant with them, but because she was careful not to say anything, it was doubtful that her gesticulations made much sense.
"Ah, yes, of course," said Caesar over the phone, sounding clearly disappointed, "you're helping the daughter of Poseidon on her quest. How about tonight, then? Like that, it won't delay your journey."
Fish nodded very intensely.
"Oh, I'm not inviting you to a business meeting. I am- well, I'm asking you out."
Vindication! She was right, and Mr. Holmes was wrong! That felt really, really good.
Mycroft was pleased to see that his call was promptly answered. He was a man who could not abide a great many things, and one of those things was tardiness. Despite having quite literally all the time in the world, he did not appreciate unnecessary waiting - especially when it came to modern technology such as mobile phones.
It was, in his opinion, strange that Caesar claimed to one to see him again. Mycroft couldn't help but suspect his words to be a lie. After all, nobody ever looked forward to seeing him.
Of course, it would be unusual for a man to be capable of lying to him. That did make him hesitate in his conclusion, but Mycroft also had to consider the fact that a phone call did not allow him the full scope of information that would be available if he were to be having the conversation face to face. It would be unlikely, but it was certainly possible that Caesar could use that to his advantage.
"Dinner may be difficult," Mycroft pointed out, playing along for now. He wanted to get an idea of where the conversation was going before he called out the attempt at deception. "If you recall, I am currently chaperoning a child. She is supposed to be on a quest."
He shot Fish a look - one that very much said 'and we are wasting time with this when we could be progressing with said quest'.
"Why do you want to see me again?" He then asked the phone. "I fail to see any kind of business reason for a meeting."

As time stretched horribly slowly, and the demon named Alastor was still not vanishing in a puff of smoke -or whatever his style was, Fish felt her insides turning to jelly. The buzz of static electricity filled the room, and all the hair on her arms stood upright. She shuddered, staring at the silhouette that was decidedly not disappearing from her living room.
When he spoke up, she jolted. She would later feel embarrassed about such a display of fear -and in front of a demon, no less. But, well, she was scared. She was very, very scared.
Annoyingly troublesome was one way to put it. Fish, on the other hand, thought the situation was a literal nightmare.
Tumblr media
"The incantation?" she croaked like a parrot, though she handed him the opened book. "It's- it's right here."
It seemed the demon Alastor wanted to leave just as much as she wanted him gone, which was at least a good thing. Maybe he could fix her summoning spell, and everything would be fine. Because otherwise, she'd be stuck home alone with a visibly powerful demon and that... No, she didn't even want to think about that.
Tumblr media
Fish's protests went unacknowledged, since by that point Alastor's attention had been fully turned onto the task of leaving the land of the living behind and going back to his hellish business. Something that should have been easy as pie for someone as skilled and powerful as him.
Yet, the facts at hand were stating the opposite.
The Radio Demon stared hard at the remaining symbols on the floor, mind racing as he tried to solve that bothersome mystery. Once again, he fully ignored the girl's words, barely registering the fact that she had spoken. Instead, he stepped out of the circle once again, rematerializing with a flick of his wrist all the runes and the symbols that had been there upon his arrival.
A few seconds ticked away, the silence filled with growing tension, until it was broken by a quiet but persistent buzzing of static. The air around them became a little electrified, enough to cause their hair to lift a little.
Tumblr media
"...Well, now. This is annoyingly troublesome," Alastor finally spoke up, obviously vexed despite the ever-present grin that occupied his face. "Show me the incantation you used, will you, my dear? Because it appears like your sloppy I̸̺̺͎̰̥̜̯̼̮̰͖̜͂͆̿̈́̿̔N̸̡̧͕͙̼̻̳̦̪̞̯͎̦͓̏̒͌͑͒͊̾͌̑̅̕͝ͅC̴̀͐ͅO̵̧̗͕̹̼̦̗̮̱̝͆͊́́̈̿̋ͅM̶̧͚̪͉̯̜̰͎̘̀͋̇̀͗̍́͆̑̏͂̿̊̚P̷̛̛̛̩̺͇̊̅̍͂͗͑͐̎̂̏̐̐Ȩ̸̪̯̗̘̥̣̲̣̣͍͚͙̥̩́̀̈̆͑T̷̡̧̬̲̭̦̘̩̊̉͛̓̓̌͌̕Ȩ̸̪̯̗̘̥̣̲̣̣͍͚͙̥̩́̀̈̆͑N̸̡̧͕͙̼̻̳̦̪̞̯͎̦͓̏̒͌͑͒͊̾͌̑̅̕͝ͅC̴̀͐ͅȨ̸̪̯̗̘̥̣̲̣̣͍͚͙̥̩́̀̈̆͑ has put us both in an extremely inconvenient situation."

Fish stared at Katniss for a moment. It was funny, really. She had spent so long being sure that Katniss didn't love Peeta, and now she was admitting that she had never even tried to save Peeta, that day in the arena. She couldn't help the sharp bark of laughter that left her lips, though the sound was more hysterical than happy.
It explained why the President hated Katniss so much. No doubt he was well aware that her little stunt with the berry had been nothing but a pure act of defiance.
"You certainly spat in their faces," she replied, shaking her head.
But it didn't make Fish feel less guilty about her own choices. "At least you were fighting for something," she said, looking away, "maybe it wasn't love, who cares. The only person I've ever fought for was myself."
And yet, Katniss was still trying to comfort her. Even though Fish had been nothing but a bitch to her, since day one. Christ. When had she become such a horrible person? Where was the sweet girl from 4? When had she died? Was it in the arena, like she told herself? Or had President Snow slowly but surely eroded at her heart?
Tumblr media
"I could have tried harder, I could have sacrificed myself for him. But the truth is that I'm selfish, Katniss. I wanted to survive, I wanted to live. I wanted to get all the things I got." She sighed, unaware that she was repeating the words the President had told her over and over again. "I'm not a good person."
Guilt settled into her stomach again, like a thousand of knots twisting her entrails. Stopping Snow? When she was here working for him? "You said it yourself, there's no way to win."
Tumblr media
@imprvdente // & Fish Monet
Katniss frowned, listening to Fish more closely now. Partly so she could try and abate the pain still sitting heavy in her own chest, but also because what she was saying was strange. It was a relief, in a way, to hear someone else talk about Snow's invasive presence, about finding him in the one place that should be safe and sacred.
She remembered the chill that ran through her when she saw Snow sitting at that desk, waiting for her. A hologram screen of her and Peeta in the arena right in front of him. But there was the difference between them- President Snow had never cared about keeping Katniss safe. Only keeping her in line.
Tumblr media
"You think Snow would be keeping him safe if you'd killed yourself?" Katniss asked, watching the other woman pace the room. "I didn't pull out that nightlock to protect Peeta. I did it because I was angry."
How desperately romantic everyone had thought her actions, the snowball that zoomed downhill and got so out of control. But Katniss had only admitted her true thoughts to a couple of people, Haymitch being one. Without even knowing it, she'd saved them both. But it hadn't been her intention.
"Peeta was willing to compromise because....because that's what he always does. It's who he is. I refused to kill him and he refused to kill me. They tricked us. So I wanted to spit in their faces."
Katniss gave a grim smile, barely curving her lips. She thought of those berries staining her hands, of her and Peeta sharing their own countdown. His fingers playing with her braid. She couldn't pinpoint her feelings for him in that moment, but she remembered her anger, Rue's body dressed in flowers.
"They'd say anything to make us kill eachother, for their entertainment, for their stupid show- if we both died, they got nothing." She gave a shrug, still as bitter as those berries about the last minute changing of the rules, of the hope and relief that had been so cruelly ripped away as the sun rose.
"You had no choice. They make sure of that. They dropped a mountainside on him to make sure he'd give them a show. They tried to set me on fire. There's no way to win, ever. And it has to stop, Snow has to be stopped."

"I don't need to know anything about you to find you attractive," she argued, raising her eyebrows at him. "And having a drink with you, well, that's a good way to get to know you more." She raised her glass and took a sip.
Tumblr media
"See? You're already getting to know me," she hummed playfully at his question. "I'm a dancer. A ballet dancer. Nothing to do with business, are you happy?" She gave him a little wink. So far, things were going smoothly. "What about you? Though... I can guess it has something to do with business."
He had to admit that that was true, though it had been more due to him being lost in his own thoughts and wanting a drink to quieten them than because he really had any interest in her. Then again, he appreciated how she spoke to him - he had utter disdain for the number of men and women who would throw themselves, or their offspring, at him with demure smiles and appeasing comments that made him nothing but bored.
So, with a small smirk and a sip of his drink, he leaned against the bar as he looked her up and down with obvious assessments. "Attractive and yet you know so little about me. What do you do for a living? I beg of you not to tell me business, I've had enough of that for the evening."

"Oh, yeah," she chuckled awkwardly, "that's fine with me. Not sure I could keep stuff like that hidden in my room." The absurdity of this situation was not lost on Fish, but she was reckless and stubborn.
Tumblr media
"I won't tell a soul." There was a new seriousness in her eyes. "I promise." She was determined, though she was sure that she might freak out about it all later. "When do we start?" The sooner the better, especially since she felt very emboldened now.

A demon giving her a compliment. Fish didn't feel flattered at all, instead, she felt queasy. Demons weren't usually big on compliments, but as it turned out, it was much scarier than a demon calling you all sorts of blasphemous names. "Thank you," she croaked anyway, happy that politeness was working so far.
She'd never heard of a demon named Rosie. Was it a nickname? Or was her knowledge of demonology really that bad? Oh, she'd have to study harder! If she survived this encounter.
Still sitting on the floor, she kept looking at the demon named Alastor, following him with her eyes as he moved to the window to look at her neighbors. Luckily, they were at work at this hour. Otherwise, she'd have to find some creative justification for this. It wasn't exactly Halloween today.
"I don't usually make spelling mistakes," she couldn't help but retort with a frown and a pout. It wasn't the wisest thing, to contradict a powerful demon strolling in her living room, but she was only a teenager. And she didn't like feeling like an idiot! But then again, the proof of her terrible mistake was standing right in front of her.
When he moved back to the circle to wipe part of it off, she had to hold back a sigh of relief. He was leaving! Out of his own volition, and without hurting her! She had no idea what kind of hotel he was talking about (a hotel in Hell??) and right now, she didn't care. She wanted him gone, please and thank you.
Tumblr media
"Goodbye, Mr. Alastor," she told him politely, managing a smile for good measure. Yes, goodbye! Good riddance!
Wait. Why isn't he leaving? she thought to herself as he kept standing there, very much still in her living room. "Ehm... Did you forget something?" she asked awkwardly after a few seconds.
Tumblr media
Alastor's eyelids fell halfway down at Fish's shaken reply. It had been so long since he had smelt human fear. Hell might have been full of terror, but it never quite got as delicious as the living's horror could be.
He was definitely getting a little peckish here. Fish was lucky that he had a rule against eating snacks outside of his main meals. Unless the circumstances required it, of course.
Tumblr media
"And speaking of good manners! You're a youngster with some of those! Such a rare thing these days," he prattled on, moving away from the photos to have a look outside. "My dear friend Rosie would love you, I'm sure."
Unlike the house he had found himself into, the neighbourhood unmistakably showed the years that had passed, and it pretty much in line with how technology had evolved in Hell. Much to the Radio Demon's chagrin.
Even more, if he had to be fully honest, the place didn't look that much different from the world he had gotten used to. Sure, it was much cleaner, much brighter, much tidier, less smelly, less hostile-looking, but that was all.
It made sense. After all, sinners were human souls. It was to be expected that they would end up reproducing what they knew.
"Oh, the daughter of a scholar? That explains a lot," he started to speak again, turning his back to the window and walking back towards Fish once more. "So, you practiced summonings and rituals as you were doing now? With all those spelling mistakes? And look at you, still alive! Good job, my dear!"
He was clearly mocking her, but at the same time he sounded sincerely delighted. It was easy to understand that the whole situation amused him greatly.
"Now, this has been absolutely charming, but I must head back. I have a Hotel to run!" He fixed his bowtie, with a hum stepping back into the circle. "Those chums would be lost without me, and I can't have my little project falling apart now that it's starting to take off."
He waved a hand, breaking the chalk line of the circle and vanishing some of the runes and seals. It was the right way to break his ties to the mortal world and lead him back to Pentagram City and yet...nothing happened.
Alastor froze in place, eyes widening and grin tightening in shocked displeasure.
What the fuck...? Why wasn't it working?!

Yes, she supposed Mr. Holmes was right. She knew that she could not disobey the President, which meant she had to wear the dress. But navigating the Capitol and her relationship with the President were very arduous and overwhelming things, and Caesar was her only friend here. She could only confide in him and had hoped for a piece of advice, or at least some reassurance.
But she did not say any of that to his husband.
"If it's special, I don't know why," she replied sincerely, "I don't know why Caesar did not want me to wear it, nor why the President insists that I do."
Tumblr media
"I suppose it's not blue," she then mused, "but even if my stylist usually picks blue dresses for me, I've worn other colors before. It has some frills, and the skirt is a rainbow."
Warning bells immediately began to ring inside Mycroft's head. If Caesar had warned her not to do something, then it would have been for a very good reason. Yes, he could have just been telling her that the dress was ugly, but Fish was not a complete idiot. As foolish as Mycroft thought her, he knew that she could tell the difference between fashion advice and legitimate concern.
And, of course, if Caesar was concerned about a matter to do with the President... Well, she'd have to have a death wish not to take him seriously, wouldn't she? Because as frivolous and airheaded as he could seem sometimes, Mycroft's husband was actually a rather shrewd man, and he was certain that Fish knew that too.
However, they were talking about the President, which meant that there wasn't really a choice to make, as you would also have to have a death wish to ignore a request from him.
"If the President is insisting, then you already know your answer," Mycroft pointed out. "Is the dress special somehow?"

Fish managed to be particularly patient this morning, letting the knights ask any questions they might have, or express all their concerns -most were about the King being taken with her, which couldn't help but make her heart do jumping jacks in her chest.
When Arthur showed his torn-up tunic and the fresh cut to his face to prove her worth, she had to control the little smile that threatened to curve her lips. Considering she had a matching cut on her cheek, she knew that smiling might make the knight's suspicions much worse. (Though she could have sworn some seemed amused at the sight of the King's tunic.)
Finally, the knights approved of her new title, and the ceremony could start. Oh, she was excited! And a little bit intimidated too. Even after all her centuries of life, Fish had never grown nonchalant. Being knighted was an immense honor, and she could hear her heartbeat in her ears, deafeningly loud.
She did as she was told, kneeling in front of Arthur. It was a new side of him, and she hoped no one else could hear her heart. Catching a glimpse of his smile, it emboldened her.
Tumblr media
The ceremony felt like a dream, one she hoped would stay in her memory for a very long time. When it was done, she stood up, looking at Arthur with a smile. She had many things she wanted to say, but nothing managed to break the barrier of her lips. Maybe a part of her worried that words might ruin the solemnity of the moment.
As Fish gave her answer, Arthur smiled but did not interrupt. She did not need him to come to her defence and the knights had the right to question her. Still he waited to see who was next and what question would come, there was still plenty to get through and he expected it would take all morning.
The questioning did indeed go on all morning, each of the knights asking talking out their concerns. Mainly that they thought Arthur had fallen for Fish and was rushing everything through rather than any concern on her fighting ability. Arthur even happily showed them his torn up tunic and the cut on his face to demonstrate. It was still a gruelling process and it seemed Fish had managed to convince the knights to grant her the title as none stepped forward with protest or further questions. Even Percival who had been a bit abrupt with her when she had entered seemed content. And with the inquisition over, there was really only one thing to do.
It took just a few minutes for everyone to get into place. Arthur in front of the altar in his crown, a little cushion on the step for Fish, knights either side behind her.
Tumblr media
"Kneel," Arthur instructed calmly once Fish was stood before him, indicating to the little cushion for her knees. He obviously took the ceremony seriously but he did have a smile for Fish, gentle and encouraging. She was going to do brilliantly as a knight he was very sure.

Fish blinked at the demon. Had he really offered to help her with a summoning? On one hand, the offer was tempting. Who better than a demon to teach her about that, right? On the other hand, one demon standing in her living room was more than enough.
Tumblr media
"Thanks?" she replied awkwardly, "maybe... Maybe another day?" Not that she wanted him to stick around, but offending him seemed like a bad idea. Plus his neck was doing a really, really weird angle. She'd seen similar things before, during possessions. But this felt very different, and she felt her stomach churning.
Her eyes followed him as he moved around the room. Her heart was beating so loud in her chest, she was sure he could hear it somehow. When he said her name, she felt all the hair on her arm rise up in dread. Yeah, she was really glad he didn't know her real name.
Before she could reply -not that it seemed like a good idea to confirm it was just a nickname- the room turned dark and suffocating. Oh, she was in trouble, wasn't she? Her blood turned to ice in her veins, and she instinctively reached for the cross around her neck.
Wait. Was this demon some kind of pervert?
When the room turned back to normal, she couldn't help but inhale a big gulp of air. This was bad. This was very, very bad. "I'm... I was practicing," she explained, her voice slightly strangled in her throat, "I'm... Well, my dad..." Should she tell him she was an exorcist? He might try to attack her. Demons weren't usually fond of exorcists.
"My dad studies demons. He teaches me."
Tumblr media
Alastor cocked his had a little more when the girl merely echoed him, instead of offering a proper answer. By now, his neck had taken an inhuman angle, a feature that would have easily given away his nature, if his looks and the circumstances of his appearance hadn't already made it quite clear.
"Yes, that's exactly what I said, my dear!" He exclaimed, his tone turning condescending. "Perhaps you'd like for me to show you how to conjure the unlucky fellow you were trying to summon and trap? I happen to be quite skilled in dark magic. If I can say so myself."
He straightened with a hum, moving past the kneeling human to have a closer look around. The furniture that adorned the living room wasn't quite the same that was used back when he was alive, but at least there was no trace of pesky modern technology in sight. That was something he could appreciate.
Tumblr media
"Fish," it was his turn to repeat, as he turned around to look at the teen once again. The bottom of his microphone hit the floor and he used it to lean forwards a little. "What a charming moniker! Not your actual birth name, I assume? Your parents would have been truly foolish to write that on the official papers. Even if, I must say..."
His voice trailed off as the room around them suddenly started to become darker. Odd shadows danced along the walls, one in particular bearing an unmistakable resemblance to the demon.
"It's quite fitting for a little thing like you."
The air grew thick with static as Alastor's scleras turned black, pupils taking the shape of radio dials.
" I̸̺̺͎̰̥̜̯̼̮̰͖̜͂͆̿̈́̿̔ C̴̀͐ͅO̵̧̗͕̹̼̦̗̮̱̝͆͊́́̈̿̋ͅU̴̡̢̱̳̳͓̗͔̮̔͜͜͜L̷͖͈̓͌̎̉͒͗͂̓̌̚͝Ḑ̷̮̳̣̟͉͋͗̓̕͜ Ȩ̸̪̯̗̘̥̣̲̣̣͍͚͙̥̩́̀̈̆͑Ą̵̺̰̻̻͔͇͓̈́̓͛̏̈́͌͋̄̑͆̏T̷̡̧̬̲̭̦̘̩̊̉͛̓̓̌͌̕ Ý̴̥͙̘̇̈́̇̃͒̿́͘͘͝͝ͅO̵̧̗͕̹̼̦̗̮̱̝͆͊́́̈̿̋ͅU̴̡̢̱̳̳͓̗͔̮̔͜͜͜ U̴̡̢̱̳̳͓̗͔̮̔͜͜͜P̷̛̛̛̩̺͇̊̅̍͂͗͑͐̎̂̏̐̐ I̸̺̺͎̰̥̜̯̼̮̰͖̜͂͆̿̈́̿̔N̸̡̧͕͙̼̻̳̦̪̞̯͎̦͓̏̒͌͑͒͊̾͌̑̅̕͝ͅ O̵̧̗͕̹̼̦̗̮̱̝͆͊́́̈̿̋ͅN̸̡̧͕͙̼̻̳̦̪̞̯͎̦͓̏̒͌͑͒͊̾͌̑̅̕͝ͅȨ̸̪̯̗̘̥̣̲̣̣͍͚͙̥̩́̀̈̆͑ B̶̨̛̺̤̱̾̀́̋̔̆̏̎͘͘I̸̺̺͎̰̥̜̯̼̮̰͖̜͂͆̿̈́̿̔T̷̡̧̬̲̭̦̘̩̊̉͛̓̓̌͌̕Ȩ̸̪̯̗̘̥̣̲̣̣͍͚͙̥̩́̀̈̆͑ ."
As abruptly as it had changed, the atmosphere shifted back to normal, as if the surge of hellish power had never happened. The Radio Demon himself was back to his previous looks, humming to himself as he went to poke at some of the pictures hanging from the walls.
"That aside! Please, do tell, because I'm quite curious. How is it that someone so young is already attempting this sort of rituals on her own? It seems like quite the risk." His grin grew wider and, if possible, sharper. "I'll let you know that not everyone in Hell practises good manners as I do."

Fish frowned, visibly sulking. She didn't want to explain to Mr. Holmes that even the possibility of seeing Poseidon was very unnerving. She wanted to make a good first impression! And she wasn't even sure what to call him, or who he was supposed to be to her. A dad? She already had a dad, but technically, Poseidon was her real father. An uncle? What if he was offended by that? What did you call the God who had conceived you as a gift to his worshippers? There were no names for that!
But she certainly wasn't going to tell Mr. Holmes about that. She doubted he cared about her worries, nor that he would give her good advice. He wasn't exactly a warm and comforting guy.
Tumblr media
"I know that," she grumbled, even though she didn't really know what Poseidon liked or disliked, or what his personality was like. "But he's gotta like ocean things even a little bit. And anyway, it's too late to change shirt now."
It was a hideous shirt. In fact, Mycroft was not even certain that it should count as a shirt at all. Unfortunately, though, it seemed to be the way fashion was going. Clothing had become so overly casual for modern standards. It was ugly, but then again, who was going to listen to Mycroft's opinion? Over the years, he had complained about so many fashion trends. Not suits, though. In a surprise twist to everybody who had known him for centuries, Mycroft actually liked the modern suit.
"I cannot guarantee that you are even going to see Poseidon from a distance, let alone speak with him," Mycroft pointed out, not bothering to hide the disappointment in his tone. "I also cannot guarantee that he would like the shirt even if you did meet him. The gods are fickle creatures; they do not always have a sense of whimsy."
Perhaps that was why Mycroft managed to fit in so well with them; because he too lacked the urge to have fun.
"Anyway, you are aware that Poseidon does not automatically love everything to do with the ocean, yes? He is not a one-sided character."

When growing up with an exorcist and a demon, one's sense of fear became somewhat warped. Fish was used to demonic entities, so, when faced with one, she was admittedly less scared than your typical mortal.
On the other hand, she also knew better than most just how dangerous a demon could be. This meant that while she was indeed less scared, the fear that was left was also very well-informed. Admittedly, it made it quite worse. After all, there was some bliss to be found in ignorance.
Basically, Fish was scared.
"Misspelled?" she repeated like a parrot, blinking at the demon. You could count on an old Amanuensis monk to make spelling mistakes in a demonology grimoire! But apparently, she couldn't blame anyone but herself for mixing up the summoning spell.
She watched in horror as the demon stepped out of the binding circle like it was nothing. Alastor. The name didn't ring any bell. But the fact that he had given her his name so quickly was very worrying. Names had power, and if she knew his name, she supposedly had power over him. Unless he was so powerful that he didn't care? Oh, no. Oh, that was very bad.
Tumblr media
As for her name... well. "Ehhhm, I'm Fish. You- you can call me Fish," she stammered awkwardly. It was just a nickname, so surely that was safe. Right? "Nice.... to meet you too?"
While her job was to banish demons back to Hell, right now her best bet was probably to be polite. Or at least, she hoped it was. "I'm very sorry about the mix-up. I- I didn't mean to bother you, Mr. Alastor."

While she studied at the library when alone, if she was going to study with a friend, then her home would be much more comfortable. "Let's study at my house," she offered, "I can make us some tea and some snacks, it'll be nicer than being at the library." Fish Lecter, just like her father, prided herself on being a good host.
At Mortimer's comment about Lila, Fish let out an amused little chuckle, her hand politely placed in front of her lips. She tremendously enjoyed Mortimer's repartee, and his tendency to enjoy gossip. "She'd definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed," she chimed in with a mischievous look in her eyes.
"The dress code is what you'd expect from a teenager party," she replied, "I'll send you some pictures if you want. But you can't go wrong with some jeans and maybe a nice jacket. I'm gonna wear a new dress, I'll show it to you tomorrow."
"As for the behavior, well... Drink, dance, and try to have fun. But don't do anything I wouldn't do." She raised her eyebrows knowingly. "I'll keep an eye on you."
Tumblr media
"And finally, well... The biggest inconvenience is that this party will be filled with gross, loud, and rude teenagers." Yes, Mortimer and Fish were teenagers too, but in her eyes, they were much more refined than the typical crowd at her high school. "The music is going to be pretty loud, too. Not the mention the fact that every surface will be sticky with beer after 30 minutes."
Realizing that she was perhaps not selling this party to her friend, she hurried to add: "but you'll have fun! I promise. If anything, we can spend the party making fun of others."
Tumblr media
Mortimer quickly got his thoughts in order, recalling the appointments he had scheduled for the next day. He was supposed to have an engagement after school hours, but it was both he couldn't push back.
Or, in the worst case scenario, Rick could have handled it in his place. After all, he was as competent as any of his alternates. Or better, more than most of them.
"I can make time," he answered with a decisive nod, making a mental note to change the time of the meeting. "Should I meet you at the library? Or will this be a home studying session?"
He was fine with both, even if he would have lied if he had said that he wasn't curious to see Fish's house. The place where one lived could say a lot about them, after all.

His lips curled in a sly smirk at the girl's comment. "I sincerely hope she is. If her party skills were comparable to her grades, her parties would be the kind of gatherings one should avoid like the plague."
He didn't really know Lila personally, but it was obvious that her talent didn't lie in academics.

"And if you know how to do it, it could come in handy. Sometimes I'm home late and don't have time to sign things. Plus, I trust you to be serious and responsible with a skill like that."
Maybe she wasn't being mom of the year, but she was also a realist. Every kid learned to forge their parents' signatures! At least, Mycroft would do it responsibly, unlike her. Oh, she had forged many bad report cards as a teenager.
