Cooperative was such a loose and at times undefined term on this ship. McCoy was not the type of man to lash out all the time with anger but something about insubordination from one's own Captain about getting help for disease and other assortment of illnesses. It got under his skin. He was here to protect them.

Not just Jim.

But if the Captain insisted on being difficult he couldn't very well do his job. He gave Jim a surprised look that didn't last longer than two seconds. "Thank you. Come here and let me check your temperature." Bones was still attempting to figure out what exactly had gotten into the Captain. If he tested him enough and analyzed his symptoms Bones would have an easier time pinpointing the cause and neutralizing it.

He couldn't do that when Jim ran from him all the time.

Don't Even Mutter It

     He was in trouble. As soon as that Southern voice came thundering through the com on the chair, Jim knew he wouldn’t be getting out of this one. A few minutes after casting broken puppy expressions at the enitire crew on the bridge, he trudged his way down to Medical. He knew what this was for. For the past few days the blonde had been sick; high fever, occasional bouts of puking. The normal. But the problem was, it acted like the common cold. Something that couldn’t be possible since he had received the cure for it; meaning that it was probably alien. Again. 

               ❝ —-Bones. ❞ The name was stated to draw the other’s attention, informing the good doctor that he was here. Surprisingly enough. The Georgian had no doubt assumed that he would need to scour the hallways and all the places Kirk frequented before getting the kid to go to Medical Bay, but hey- he could be cooperative sometimes. 

imagine the first time jim catches bones standing alone on the observation deck looking out at their galaxy, and he doesn’t look nervous or shaky or apprehensive, he looks captivated, like he’s actually happy out here, like he can actually focus on the beauty of stars and not just the dangers of space, and when bones finally notices him standing there he turns to look at him and asks, what the hell are you grinning about, and jim doesn’t say anything but he slings an arm around bones’ shoulders and he can’t help smiling wider, because he can’t remember the last time he was this happy or proud

Don't Even Mutter It

McCoy found himself looking over the scans he'd just gotten from Jim's latest physical. His expression was stuck in that perpetual frown, just shaking his head and rubbed at his brows. He couldn't believe it. This sodding fool was sick. Bones wondered vaguely how he could ever miss it but Kirk's been skipping out on his physicals for quite some time. It's not really Bones' fault but that doesn't keep him from thinking this was on him. He decided he'd give Jim a stern talking to and force him into bed. There's no way he'd allow their commanding officer to work under such conditions. "Jim! Get your ass down to the Med Bay right now or I'm coming to get you."

in space nobody will hear me complain but that wont stop me. nothing can

"If you don't do check ups how the hell am I supposed to know when you're healthy and not over working?"
