One advantage of not really having a strong sense of gender identity is that you’re very [shrug emoji] about how people gender you. Sometimes people call me by she/her pronouns and sometimes they go with he/him pronouns and on the internet people often default to they/them, and neither option is entirely right but also, fuck if I know what would be right, and I don’t particularly care. Therefore I’m perfectly happy to outsource my gender identity to the people around me who actually need to figure out which box to put me in. I don’t need to talk about myself in third person, so really my pronouns sound like a you problem.

Hear me out-
The X-Men with a reader who can cancel out mutations, like when they're near someone, let's say Cyclops for example, he can take off his glasses and his eyes don't shoot out lasers.
I think it'd be funny to have it so the reader isn't even aware of their mutation, like one day one of them slips up or tries to use their powers around the reader but nothing happens 💀
Having a mutation that stops their powers (X-Men and The Brotherhood)
I LOVE THIS I'm actually going to do this with the X-Men and the Brotherhood because there's so many possibilities.
TODD (I'm just putting him first because he's my fav):
• You and Todd hang out a lot. For some reason, he just feels calmer around you (little does he know, you actually take away the stressful parts of his mutation, like the sensitive skin and everything)
• I feel like he still eats flies because he's used to it, so he doesn't notice that you took away the frog part of his brain that actually needs them for nourishment
• He doesn't actually realize that you have that mutation until he goes to jump and just.. falls on his face.
• He freaks out at first, but he does appreciate not being so slimy and all of that
• Sometimes if he wants to shower (check out my headcanons on why he can't use soap), he'll call you over
PIETRO:
• He. Hates. You.
• Not actually, because I don't write angst very often, but he doesn't appreciate the power you hold over him.
• You're like a more annoying Wanda in his eyes.
• He always gets on your nerves (because he obviously will, I don't care how cute he is), and you always end each argument by taking away his powers.
• "Very funny! Now stop."
WANDA:
• You think she can't kill you without powers?
• Just kidding, ofc. She loves you.
• But, she's very used to being controlled and her powers being held back, so I actually think she wouldn't appreciate you using it against her.
• If you don't know about your powers yet, then she's obviously not going to get mad at you.
• Actually, she's very sympathetic. She knows what it's like to have uncontrollable powers.
FRED:
• Would he really notice? I don't think his body would change. Maybe he'd lose some strength though, but he'd probably just think he's getting sick or something
• Or he would freak out and feel useless without his powers, leading to a breakdown (think Luisa from Encanto idk)
LANCE:
• (I don't know if anyone else noticed this in the show, but HE MAKES THE STUPIDEST FACES WHEN USING HIS POWER ITS SO FUNNY)
• I imagine he goes to use his power and nothing happens so he just stands there like 🧍
• LIKE ELEVEN IN THAT ONE SCENE OF STRANGER THINGS LMAOO
TABITHA:
• She'd probably be really chill about it, but after a minute she'd really miss using her powers.
• So she freaks out a little, but she plays it cool in front of everyone.
• Hey, she's a complex person!
SCOTT:
• He's so confused, he just stares blankly at everyone and no one knows what's happening
• like this: 😨
• After everyone found out about what happened, he actually kind of loves it.
• Imagine always having to wear sunglasses, I would get so sick of those powers. So, he enjoys the little break
• Just make sure to tell him when you leave the room, because he's used to keeping his eyes open when you're around
ROGUE:
• Yeah, we all know she needs this.
• She would get really excited, going around and poking people's shoulders
• Getting surprised when nothing happens and just being like "okay, just checking!"
• She finally gets to hug her friends and high five people and all of that fun loving stuff
• A bit disappointed when it ends, but she doesn't blame you
• Yes, she's a bit closed off. But deep down, all she really wants is to be able to live her life without fear.
KURT:
• As much as he would like it to, I don't think the mutation would take any physical traits.
• So the beautiful blue boy would have to stay looking like the dude from Avatar </3
• Which obviously isn't a bad thing, because he's perfect just the way he is, but Kurt is severely disappointed.
• The teleportation was the only good thing about his powers! And that's all that went away.
• He's not angry at you, just angry at himself for.. existing, I guess.
• HE DESERVES SO MUCH LOVE I CANT
• Your powers don't really do much, expect keeping him from running away during arguments. Which could be very helpful.
JEAN:
• Another one that I believe would appreciate your powers
• Jean has to deal with a lot of things, including the involuntary mind reading (which I'm guessing absolutely sucks, because who would ever want that power!?)
• So, until she controls that, it can be a bit overwhelming.
• Then, you come along. And it's silent. For once in her life, the only voice in Jeans head is her own.
• She obviously goes into protective mother mode during the chaos, making sure no one else is panicking while they try to figure out what's happening
• But she's honestly really relieved the entire time.
KITTY:
• Unfortunately, she finds out right when she's running into a wall (because I think that's funny comedic timing)
• I think she'd be a little relieved too, since we learned her worst fear is her powers trapping her underground and things like that
• So sometimes I think using her powers makes her really nervous, thinking she'd accidentally get trapped and suffocate or something.
• So, whenever she needs a break from that anxiety, she knows exactly who to turn to
All in all, I think this is a really cute idea and I loved writing about it. Thank you for the request, I had so much fun with this!!

Future with Todd Tolansky Headcanons!
Don't be fooled, even though this post mentions having kids, there will be no NSFW. So if that's what you're interested in, you're outta luck. Anyways, future with Todd head canons!
• First of all, he is NOT a sitcom father. He would never treat you badly or push all of the responsibilities on you.
• He would worship you every day.
• I think he'd get a job and still come home to clean the house (and make you dinner, that man is definitely a good cook)
• I think he has his own business as a mechanic, so his hours are a bit more flexible. Count on him staying home whenever you're sick.
• He does all of the chores because he wants to, but if you're not okay with that he'll obviously let you do some.
• But you can definitely expect to come home to a clean house, dishes clean, dinner on the table, everything. He's basically a stay at home husband, even if he also has a job.
• Was so nervous when he was proposing, he ended up dropping the rings a few times.
• Listens to you about the jewelery you like, and gets you a ring that he knows you'll like.
• He was a nervous wreck during your wedding, and he was definitely sobbing when he first saw you.
• Also cried during his vows. And during the first kiss and the reception and afterwards.
• Anyways, we've gotten to the dreaded topic; Children.
• I just want to say that he always listens and make decisions with you in mind. So if you don't want kids (same), he's completely fine with that! Same goes for if you do.
• I also want to say that he is DEFINITELY a girl dad. The universe can not let this man have sons, that's just not possible.
• So if you do have kids, his nails are always painted. And he'll never take any shit from anyone about that.
• He's a mix of the dad from Bluey and Joey Foo on Tiktok.
• He has a soft spot for his daughters, but he's not one of those "I'm the fun parent, your mom is so mean, right kids?" He can parent just as well as his partner.
• Teaches his kids how to fight and stand up to others because he is not letting his little mutant babies be bullied.
• Also worships you when you're pregnant. You have a craving? He's up at 3am, buying you pickles and chocolate or whatever. Foot rubs, massages, anything he can do to make you happy.
• Never stops being romantic, even after having kids. The other members of the brotherhood babysit on your date nights (IMAGINE HOW CUTE IT WOULD BE!?? THE KIDS WOULD BE LIKE "UNCLE PIERTO YAY")
• The kind of dad that goes all out during holidays. He does elf on the shelf for his kids, and he acts completely surprised every time.
BUT if you don't want kids:
• He understands! It's not easy. He would love being a fun uncle for all of his friends just as much as being a dad.
• And as long as he's with you, he's happy.
• Definitely a cat guy, I don't make the rules. You adopt like five cats together (yes, I'm projecting again. He'd be fine with dogs too 🙄)
• This is with kids and without, but he definitely does that cheesy "honey, I'm home!" Whenever he gets home from work
• The first thing he does every day is find you and twirl you in his arms. It just reminds him of what's really important.

OMG I HAD A CUTE IDEA FOR THE BROTHERHOOD-
The reader decides to dress up as them to troll them, like they roll up behind Pietro mocking his voice in a horribly sewn version of his costume all 'I need to get Fred to make my sandwiches for me!'
Dressing up as the members of the Brotherhood to make fun of them (because they deserve it LMAO)
You're right, this is such a cute idea!! I love it. This one might be shorter, but I still hope you enjoy it anyways! Also, I'm so sorry this took so long, the holidays have been really busy for me. But I still tied my best.
PIETRO:
• He isn't amused.
• Yeah, he's a bit of a sourpuss.
• "Very funny. Take it off. This costume took a lot of time."
• But he eventually starts smiling a little (and I'd you're dating maybe he even thinks it's cute, who knows?)
• Also, if he was really annoyed, he'd dye your hair in your sleep
• "What? I thought you wanted to look like me."
LANCE:
• He's a bit of a sourpuss too. Crossing his arms and rolling his eyes and huffing.
• "I do not sound like that!"
• (He definitely does sound like that)
• He claims he doesn't care, but he'll make his voice a little deeper for a while
• Eventually starts making fun of you back, like mocking your voice and saying stuff like "do I look as ridiculous in that outfit as you do?"
TODD:
• He's kind of honored, honestly.
• Even if you're not dating, he kind of finds it hilarious and adorable at the same time.
• Maybe a little eye rolling and poking fun, but he just likes playing around so he's not really offended.
• Gives you tips on how to impersonate him better.
• "No, no, that's a Staten Island accent! You need to go higher"
• He might be a little hurt at first, because he's been ridiculed for his looks so much. But he realizes it's friendly teasing and he calms down.
FRED:
• This poor man.
• As if being a mutant wasn't bad enough, he also has to deal with a crazy amount of fatphobia.
• So a joke like this.. might not be the best idea. Just saying.
• He's got some trauma, and I think any joke you make towards him would feel like a personal attack. (I mean, all of them have a bunch of trauma, I just think he's the most emotional)
• Not to get all serious or anything, but I really don't think he'd react well.
• He'd probably be confused at first, then angry, then sad.
• Probably all three at the same
• I know everyone else has dealt with a lot of ridicule, but his looks and personality are a really sensitive subject, you know? I think he'd be more sensitive
• Just wear his clothes, he'll think it's really cute. No trauma reactions needed!
WANDA:
• She's mostly stone faced.
• She does crack a smile every once in a while, especially if you're actually wearing her outfit.
• When she's feeling especially nice (which is rare so appreciate it) she'll actually compliment you. Like saying "it looks better on you."
• Honestly, she gives me Rosa from B99 vibes.
• She lets you borrow her clothes if she thinks they looked good on you. You guys would basically share a wardrobe from then on.
TABITHA:
• "And? What about it? You're just jealous."
• She's way too confident and proud to let something like that effect her
• But she would definitely make fun of you back, like right away.
• It's like she has a secret list of insults she keeps of anyone who decides to make fun of her.
• She is extremely prepared.
