Nag.Birthday 🎂, Nag.Myanmar 🇲🇲
(A special birthday celebration)

MYANMAR - never fails to amaze me from the extravagant scenery of shwedagon phaya, nostalgize with the photogenic beauty of Bagan, feeling the good vibes in a boat ride at Inle Lake to the lockjaw moments at the Golden Rock at Mt. Kyaiktiyo.
Tumblr media
This trip took place last March 23-29, 2017 as I celebrate my 26th Birthday. I am sharing you my 6 Days Myanmar Itinerary, estimated expenses, tips, trivias and travel guides.
Day 1 (Yangon)
10:35am - Flight BKK to Yangon
11:20am - Arrived at Yangon International Airport
(Note: Myanmar is 30 minutes behind Thailand)
12:00pm - grab a cab going to Bogyoke Aung San Market (2-3$)
(Tip: Walk out from the airport to grab a taxi with cheaper rate)
(Bring USDollars and have it exchange outside the airport for much higher rate. Always ask the driver to bring you to different exchange outlet for you to choose the highest rate)
- we walked around the market and search for some interesting burmese food for Lunch.
3:00pm - Kandawgyi Palace and Park
5:00pm - Sunset at Shwedagon Pagoda (8k Kyats)
Tumblr media
Shwedagon Pagoda is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, as it is believed to contain relics of the four previous Buddhas of the present kalpa. These relics include the staff of Kakusandha, the water filter of Koṇāgamana, a piece of the robe of Kassapa, and eight strands of hair from the head of Gautama.
7:00pm - Took a cab going to Mingalar Highway Bus Terminal for our night trip to Bagan.
8:00pm - Night Trip from Yangon to Bagan via JJ Express Bus (20$)
(Tip: Have a seat reservation via online before coming to Myanmar. You can pay over the counter once you arrive at their office in the Bus Terminal)
(Note: we took a night trip to Bagan - a 10 hours land trip from Yangon to Bagan. The Bus is great, they offers blanket, water, food, its spacious and its comfortable to sleep)
Day 2 (Bagan)
6:00am - Mingalaba B A G A N!
Bagan is an ancient city and the first kingdom that unified the regions that would now constitute the country of Myanmar.
Tumblr media
- Rent a Myin Hlae (Pony Cart) 30k Kyats for a Day tour (from sunrise to sunset).
- Im was so excited to explore the ancient city! 😁
- But then, I need to pay for 25k Kyats to explore its wonder. 😔
Tumblr media
… but its worth it! After seeing this marvels
- watching sunrise with hot airballons flying at the top of pagoda was the best thing to do in the morning!
- Bagan has over 10,000 Buddist Temples and Pagodas but only 2,200 survived today. We visited alot of temples and we are in awe.
Tumblr media
She is Aung, the oldest in their village and smoking tabacco is her pastime.
- We visited a Burmese Village and I was able to observed how they live simple. They produce their own basic needs for survival, from planting their food to kniting their own garments.
- Myanmar is a tropical country, the weather is so hot especially on March to May. But, alot of the locals will going to call your attention to put Thanaka on your face. Thanaka is a yellowish-white cosmetic paste made from ground bark. This gives a cooling sensation and provides protection from sunburn. It is believed to help remove acne and promote smooth skin.
Tumblr media
We watched the sunset over the temple on the hill.
- We didnt reserved a hotel in Bagan since I planned that we will just going to have a day tour
- After sunset we took a bus to Mandalay which is 3 Hours trip from Bagan.
7:00pm - Trip to Mandalay via Bus (18k Kyats)
Day 3 (Mandalay)

Tumblr media
10:00pm - 7 hours Bus Trip from Mandalay to Inle Lake (10.62$)
Day 4 (Inle Lake)
4:30am - Arrived in Inle Lake
(As soon as we arrived we contract a Boat Driver for a 1 day tour in Inle Lake. We came so early and told us that the operation starts by 6:00am. We dont have Hotel Reservations because I thought we gonna arrived by 6am. Luckily, he offered his humble home for us to stay and sleep for 2 hours)
6:00am - we rented a boat for 12k Kyats
- and we paid 10$ for the entrance fee to explore the Lake.
Tumblr media
LOCKJAW - (n) be able to witness this magnificient scenery.
- we visited the Kayan Lahwi tribe of Burma.
Tumblr media
A beautiful Kayan Lahwi woman of Burma
Women of the Kayan Lahwi tribe are well known for wearing neck rings, brass coils that are placed around the neck, appearing to lengthen it. The more length, the more attractive they are in their tribe.

Day 6 (Happy Birthday)
Tumblr media
In a world full of lies only few people can be genuine and if you found one/few… those are the best one to treasure.
At first it was just an exchange of a friendly greetings. I did not expect you were that hospitable and kind. To be honest, It was too good to be true and I got scared with your invitation because you’re a complete stranger and just newly acquainted.. but deep inside of me I want to go since its my birthday and I should have to celebrate it rather than spending it in the hotel… it was almost the end of our journey in Myanmar and Im almost broke… I was embarrassed because its my birthday and supposedly the one who will spend but you didn’t let me pay anything even a single cent and you even drive us to our hotel..
Athan, Thank you so much! You are one of a kind! You made my birthday hard to forget! I will treasure this friendship forever! Looking forward to see you again… send my regards to the gang ☺️☺️
Day 7
Rented a Taxi from the Hotel to the Airport
12:00pm - Trip to Bangkok
1:45pm - Arrived at DMK BKK
Tips:
- Always bring first aid kit espicially medicine.
- Myanmar has beautiful stories. If you dont have budget to pay for a tourist guide, then make some research about the place.
- Always bring a bottle of water when traveling to Myanmar especially on March - May that the wearther is so hot.

If Internet is Life and planning to buy a SIM CARD. Then, buy it outside the airport, you can get it for 45K Rupiah.
This itinerary had really strict budget, sometimes we buy instant noodles (seedap) at mini mart for 2,600 Rupiah and cook it in the hotel. (Seedap is a Bahasa word for Delicious)
We also tried Indonesia Street foods for 20K Rupiah only and its not that bad at all.
Use some booking apps to get cheap air tickets and Hotel rates
Its good if you travel with other people so that you can share the expenses. In this trip, I’m with a friend so some expenses were divided especially the hotel and taxi fare.
