Winter Night
Maou lay on the floor in the Devil's Castle, a single blanket to protect him from the cold of the snow and wind outside. Emi’s right, these walls are paper thin. I'm freezing. He was shivering and huddling under the baby blue blanket. He glanced over at his companions. Ashiya and Urushihara seemed to be unaffected by the cold.
He closed his eyes again, and tried to sleep (he wanted to get a good night's sleep, he had an early shift in the morning). No such luck. The tips of his ears and fingers were numb. He moaned, then sneezed, as he rolled into his other side.
He heard rustling from about a meter away. Then a warm, thick, blanket was draped over his shaking body. He recognized the smell and feel of the cloth. It wasn't a blanket, but Ashiya’s cape, that he was using as a blanket moments before.
He rolled back over. “What about you?” He asked the talk blond. His voice was croaky from cold.
Ashiya smiled warmly. “Do not worry about me, sire.”
Maou managed to snatch his ankle, before he walked away. “No,” he continued, “You'll catch a cold. Come 'ere.”
Ashiya obeyed and layed down, only a few inches from the other boy. As Maou curled up and closed his eyes, enjoying the mild heat Ashiya was giving off, Ashiya noticed that Maou's lips were tinted slightly blue. They looked cold, and the breath coming from the pursed lips was visible in the fridged air. It was his job to take care of King Satan while in the human world. At least, that was his justification for what he did next. He pressed his own lips against them. They were, as he expected, very cold, but also very soft.
Maou didn't even pull back from surprise. He scooched a little closer to Ashiya's warm, strong body and kissed him back. Both their cheeks were pink, but not from cold alone.
They fell asleep like that. Bodies close together, with Maou's hands on Ashiya's chest and Ashiya's on his back, and lips pressed against each other.
Urushihara glanced over at the couple. Finally. The sexual tension was killing me.

Coworkers
(This happens after the fight with the pervy archangel)
This was one of the slowest parts of the day at McRonalds. Costumers were sparsely distributed throughout the restaurant. “Arigato, and please come again,” Maou recited with a bow to the, very busy looking, man he had just served. He heard Chi repeat the same goodbye. She seemed to lack her usual enthusiastic charm. In fact, she hadn't been herself, since she was taken by Sariel. That worried him. Maou had seen the archangel's pervy behavior before, even aimed at Chi herself. And he did take a little longer than he would have liked to get to the girls. What if he did something to her, before Maou got there? He decided that, if he did, he would beat that cocky bastard into the ground for a second time. He might even put an end to the irritating celestial jackass; if he had enough magic, that is.
So, after their shift, he approached Chi in the break room. She was collecting her stuff and getting ready to go home. “Hey, Chi,” he started, “Are you alright? You've been acting kind of down lately. Did that pervy archangel do anything to you?” He said this all too fast for her to get a word in before he was done.
“I'm fine.” Her tone was more ridged and angry than usual. “And, even if I wasn't, I wouldn't want you to worry about your position as shift manager because of it. But next time I get a paper cut, I'll make sure to allert you immediately.” She stormed off, short pigtails bouncing.
He stood for a moment, dumbfounded. He had no idea what she was talking about. She wasn't even sounding like herself anymore - she was acting more like Emi.
She was already out the door by the time he began to chase after her. “Chi!” She stopped for a split second, then kept walking, faster now. He grabbed her wrist. “What are you talking about?”
“Nothing,” she practically spat. She began to squirm. “Let me go.” She nearly broke he wrist free, but he pulled her to him. His arms were holding tightly around her waist and shoulders. “Stop it! Let me go!”
“I won't let go until you tell me what's wrong,” Maou insisted. She was warm, and her face was flushed with anger... and something else.
She stopped trying to escape. “Why?” The shadow of her hair covered her face.
His grip loosened. That had surprised him. It shouldn't even have to be a question. “Because I want to make sure you're okay.”
“Why?” She repeated. “Why do you care?”
“B-b-because,” he stuttered, “Y-you’re my e-employee, and I h-have to protect you.” That answer had become a refelx. It was technically true, but not the reason he cared.
“That!” She yelled. Maou could feel her shaking, although he couldn't tell if it was purly from rage. He figured it wasn't after a tear fell into his arm. “That's what bothers me! That's exactly what you said during that fight! Would you even care what happens to me if I weren't your employee?” She was able to break through his weakening grip and run away, tears catching the wind and sparkling through the air behind her.
Maou couldn't function. He was to shocked. He was still standing a block in front of the McRonalds, sort of hunched over, and arms still out in front of him, as if he were still holding Chi. Of course I would care, he thought, I care so much about you, Chi. I'm just to afraid to tell anyone. I've always said that humans are scary, and you scare me more than anyone. I'm afraid of my feelings for you…

First Aid
(There is blood in this, just in case you mind)
Ryuuji walked around the school building. He was supposed to meet Taiga after school, at their lockers, to walk home together. He passed a few other students as he strolled through the school grounds. He noticed a bulky boy approaching him. A first year, he thought. The boy pointed at Ryuuji. “Ryuuji Takasu!” He exclaimed. Ryuuji nodded in response, confused. “You are my competition!” The boy continued.
“Competition?” This was making no sense to Ryuuji.
“I am in love with the Palmtop Tiger! And you are too close to her! I must defeat you!”
Ryuuji backed up with his hands in the air. He didn’t want to fight this guy. “Woah, woah.” He tried to stop him, backing up until he ran into the side of the building. The boy had a thick arm raised, ready to attack. His punch landed square on the right side of Ryuuji’s chest. He was crushed against the wall, and the force of the punch actually knocked the air out of his lungs. He heard a  concerned shout. “Ryuuji?!” It was Taiga. She was running at the two, an expression of fury on her pretty face. “Don’t punch him! He’s my dog!” She leaped and kicked the boy to the ground, then proceeded to punch him over and over again. “Only I can hit him!” The boy scrambled away, nose bleeding and all bruised. “That’s right! Run away!” Taiga yelled after him, grinding her teeth angrily.
“T-Taiga,” Ryuuji muttered, amazed.
“That idiot.” She brushed off her hands. “Are you okay, Ryuuji?” She asked, watching him gulp air.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” He answered.
They gathered their stuff from their lockers and then walked home. They both entered Ryuuji’s apartment and changed into house slippers. “Do you have a first aid kit?” Taiga asked.
“Yeah, in that cupboard.”
Taiga had to stand on her toes to get the little red box off the shelf. “Okay,” She said once she finally reached it, “Take your shirt off.”
“Wh-what?” Ryuuji stuttered, taken aback.
She frowned at him. “How are we supposed to treat your wounds if you’re covering them up with your shirt.” She grabbed a towel from the kitchen and began soaking it in rubbing alcohol, while Ryuuji obeyed and took off his shirt. She kneeled in front of him, and pressed the towel to the bruise forming on his chest. He quickly sucked air through his teeth in pain. “Does this hurt?” Taiga asked, lifting the cloth from his skin.
“Yeah,” He groaned.
“Good.” She continued to clean the bruise.
“What?”
“You probably deserved this. What did you do to piss him off anyway?” She replied moving around behind him, to start on the scratches on his shoulder blades, from the concrete.
“I didn’t do anything!” Ryuuji retorted. The alcohol stung when she pressed it into the cuts.
“Really?” Taiga craned her neck around to look at his face. “Then why did he attack you?”
Ryuuji blushed and looked at his lap. “He didn’t have a reason,” He lied.
“That’s stupid.”
Ryuuji was anxious to change the subject. He wan’t going to tell her that he was attacked because some kid was jealous of how close they are. “What did you mean when you said you’re the only you could beat me up?”
That caught Taiga off guard. “Obviously, no master would let another person punish their dog. And since I’m your master, only I can hit you for being an idiot.”
“Right.” Ryuuji grimaced. Once she finished cleaning his cuts, Taiga covered them in bandages.
The next day, Ryuuji was making dinner, and Taiga was sitting at the table, poking at the ‘fugly bird’. He quickly reached up to grab something from the cupboard, making him wince, because his shoulders and chest were still sore. He continued to cook, but more carefully. Taiga walked over and lifted up the back of his shirt.
“Hey!” He blushed. “What are you doing?”
She rolled her eyes at him. “Checking your scratches, dumb mutt.”
“Oh, right.” He turned back to the wok, taking a moment to tug on his bangs. “How are you so good at first aid anyway?” He asked.
She smiled to herself, leaning her head against his back. “I live alone. I made sure I knew first aid when I moved out, just in case something happens, since there’s nobody around to help me.”
“That’s not true!” Ryuuji whipped around. He actually looked a little offended. “At least... not anymore. You have Yasuko and Kushieda now, and me.”
She shrugged.
“If anything happens, promise you’ll call me,” He insisted.
“Fine, whatever,” She answered. She was poking at the slowly healing cuts. His skin was warm under her fingers.
“Promise me.” He clenched his fists.
“Yeah, yeah, I promise,” She agreed.
The next morning, Ryuuji, Taiga and Minori walked onto the school grounds together. Taiga ran forward. “Hey, you!” She pointed frantically at the first year that attacked Ryuuji before. He gaped at her small, angry figure. “Why the hell did you attack Ryuuji for no reason?!” Minori turned to Ryuuji, shocked. They hadn’t told the others about the fight.
The boy seemed confused. “It wasn’t for no reason.” He sun around, with hearts in his eyes. “I’m in love with you Aisaka! I had to defeat the competition, Takasu.” He smiled at her, hoping she’d be flattered. He received a sharp kick in the face from Taiga. “Oof. I didn’t even get a chance to hurt him, before you showed up,” He complained, rubbing his face.
“Yes you did, jerk.” She pulled down the collar of Ryuuji’s shirt to reviel the bruise on his chest.
“U-uh, sorry?” The boy stuttered.
Taiga scoffed and stormed away, dragging Ryuuji with her by his shirt. Minori followed them, asking question after question about what happened.
Around a month later, Taiga carried a cup of tea across her apartment to the table. She was planning to study, because they had a math test coming up. A dirty skirt lay on the floor, which she didn’t notice. She was too focused on not spilling her tea that she tripped on the skirt. She exclaimed in surprise and embarrassment as she fell. The teacup flung out of her hand and shattered against the wall. As she fell, her head hit the corner of the wooden table. She landed in a heap on the ground, blood poring from her forehead. Ow, she though. She meant t say it out loud, but she only managed a moan. She was starting to get dizzy.
A memory popped into her head. “If something happens, promise you’ll call me.” She reached a shaking hand into her pocket and took out her cell phone. She dialed Ryuuji’s number and hit send. The phone got covered in blood when she raised it to her ear. “Hello?” She heard his voice coming from the phone. “R-Ryuuji...” She managed, before the world went black.
“Taiga!” Ryuugi yelled. Her voice was shaking, and he could tell there was something wrong. She didn’t answer. He dropped the phone and sprinted out the door and into her apartment building. He yanked her door open, it was unlocked, luckily. “Taiga!” He saw he lying on the floor, blood pooling around her head. He grabbed her and looked at the deep cut on her forehead. Her hair and clothes were soaked with red. She was feeble, and her head lolled around. “Taiga...” He held her against his chest, and used her phone to call an ambulance.
“Where is she? Is she okay?” Minori demanded running into the hospital waiting room with Kitamura. Ryuuji was sitting in a chair in the waiting room, with his face buried in his hands.
“They won’t let me see her yet. They said she’s going to be okay though.” Ryuuji was shaking. Kitamura but a consoling hand on his shoulder.
“What happened?” Minori plopped down on a chair next to Ryuuji. She has her hands clenched into fists.
“I’m not completely sure. I think she tripped and cut her head on her table, what a klutz.” He felt hot tears filling his eyes. Minori was already crying.
An entire hour later, a kind looking women in scrubs approached the three teenagers. “Are you here for Aisaka Taiga?” They all nodded frantically. “You can come see her now.” They stood up quickly and followed her. On the way, she told them that she wasn’t awake yet, but they could visit her anyway.
She was lying, unconscious in a hospital bed. Her head was sewn up, and the blood had been washed off her. “Taiga!” Minori hugged her sleeping friend.
“Minorin?” A small voice asked. She had woken up.
“Taiga!” “Aisaka!” Ryuuji and Kitamura exclaimed at the same time.
“Where am I?” She asked.
“The hospital,” Answered Kitamura. Minori stood up and wiped the tears off her face. Taiga’s and Ryuuji’s eyes met. She blushed and noticed the tear tracks on his face.
After a little while, Minori and Kitamura had to leave and it was just Taiga and Ryuuji. Taiga was avoiding eye contact. She stared at her hands folded in her lap. “Thank you,” She muttered, bushing. Ryuuji didn’t answer. He just stood up and walked over to the bed. She looked up at him. His hair was casting a shadow over his eyes. She saw a tear slide down his cheek to his chin. “Ry-” Suddenly he wrapped his arms around her shoulders and squeezed them. Tears fell off his chin and onto her back. Her eyes widened, surprised. “Ryuuji.” She pressed her face into his shirt. “Ryuuji.”
The door burst open. They jumped apart in alarm. “Taiga!” Yasuko squealed. She hugged the small girl and cooed, “I’m so glad you’re okay.”
“Thanks Yasuko,” Taiga replied hugging her back. She caught Ryuuji’ eye and smiled. “Thank you,” She mouthed.

The Ocean
(This takes place while the gang is at Ami’s beach house)
“Come on, guys! Hurry up!” Minori called behind her, running towards the ocean.
“Coming Minorin!” Taiga yelled back following her friend, and holding an inner tube around her waist.
“Wait for us you two,” Kitamura shouted. Him and Ryuuji were following close behind Taiga, with Kawashima taking her sweet time crossing the beach.
When she reached the edge of the water, Taiga stopped. “Come on, Taiga,” Ryuuji said, leading her into the water, with a hand on her inner tube. All five of them swam deep enough so their feet didn’t touch the ground. Ryuuji’s hand was still on Taiga’s inner tube. She hadn’t really noticed before. “Let go, stupid dog. I don’t need you holding on to me,” She raged slapping his hand away. The current of the ocean pushed her only about a foot away, which made her panic. She grabbed his arm, and held it tight against her.
“I thought you didn’t need me to hold onto you,” he retorted, smiling at her, still clinging onto his arm.
“I changed my mind, okay.” She pouted, and let go of his arm once he was holding onto the inner tube again.
“Why do you even need that thing?” Kawashima snapped, “Can’t you put your head under water now, after you flipped out during our race?”
“Salt water hurts my eyes.” She crosses her arms. “Shut up, dumb Chihuahua.”
Kawashima sighed. “Whatever.”
Minori got an idea. “Takasu!” She called, “Pass her over here!” She waved a hand in the air.
What? Ryuuji thought, before catching on. He pushed the inner tube so Taiga sailed over to the pink haired girl. “What the hell are you doing?” Taiga screamed, spinning in circles and gripping the inner tube for dear life. Minori caught her, giggling. “Minorin!” Taiga hugged her friend, and then she giggled. “Pass the Taiga!” Minori announced, pushing Taiga back to Ryuuji. Taiga laughed and smiled. She actually enjoyed getting passed around between her friends. “Here, Kitamura!” He passed her to Kitamura - even if she was supposed to be helping him with Kushieda, that doesn’t mean he can’t push her and Kitamura a little closer together, literally.
Kitamura caught her, an she blushed furiously, but she was still smiling. He grinned back a her, glad she was enjoying herself. “Kawashima,” Kitamura said, pushing her to the blue haired girl. Taiga was enjoying herself too much to care that she was being passed to the chihuahua. Ami’s smile was fake as she giggled and said, “Here, Takasu.” She shoved Taiga hard, right in between Ryuuji and Kitamura. Taiga began to speed further away from shore. She quickly snapped out of her happy, giggly haze and began to scream. She flailed wildly, trying to swim back to the others. “Oops,” Kawashima giggled, a mischevious glint in her eye.
“Taiga!” Ryuui yelled, swimming to her as fast as he could. He grabbed her, both of them panting. Taiga wrapped her arms around Ryuuji’s waist, squeezing as tight as she could. Tears began to well up in her eyes, threatening to slide down her cheeks. “It’s okay, I got you,” Ryuuji reassured her. He looked down at the shaking figure against him. Her face was buried in his chest, so all he could see was her honey colored hair. Once she recovered, they swam together back over to the rest of the group. “What the hell was that for?!” Taiga shouted at Ami.
“I didn’t mean to, honestly,” Ami lied, innocently, “I missed is all.”
“Yeah right, stupid chihuahua.”
Nothing else that eventful happened while they were in the water. Eventually, Ryuuji got tired of treading water with only one arm. So Taiga ended up on his shoulders, piggy back style. Under the strong smell of the ocean and sunscreen, Taiga could detect a familiar, comforting scent. Like rice and fabric softener, Ryuuji. She let her head hang, her eyes close, and his scent overwhelm her. “You look tired, Aisaka,” Kitamura commented, seeing her with his amber eyes closed, and her head nearly resting on Ryuuji’s shoulder.
She snapped to attention. “Oh, y-yeah. I’m tired.” She blushed.
“Alright. I’m getting a little tired too. Let’s go in.” Kitamura offered.
Once they reached the shallows, Ryuuji crouched down and said, “Time to get down.” Taiga nodded and slid off his back. Although, part of her didn’t want to. She had no idea why. It made her blush.
