Luke’s fatal flaw being “wrath” kind of feels like Rick saying he should have just rolled over and taken it.
“well if he hadn’t been so angry - ”
“well if he’d just gotten over how he and everyone in his life was abused and mistreated to the point of death instead of getting angry over it - "
Luke’s real fatal flaw was trusting people when they said they had his best interests at heart. We see this with Hermes (trusting Hermes will send someone to escort them to safety), with Chiron (trusting Chiron when he says the gods care despite all evidence to the contrary), with Kronos (trusting that Kronos will bring back the golden age for demigods), Thalia (trusting that she’ll still join him and not kick him off a fucking cliff), and Percy (trusting Percy to give him the knife to kill himself with).
Luke's trust in people literally kills him.

the pjo show is a faithful adaptation bc all of the changes that were made were made to support the themes and the overarching story of the books.
a show is very different from a book, without percy's narration the show has to be more obvious about certain things and many events have to be merged or adjusted to fit a time limit. they have to set up A LOT of plot lines and character arcs in very few episodes, so there are things that they will have to adjust in the timeline so the pacing isn't a mess. the important thing about an adaptation is that it tells the story the author wants to tell, the pjo show does that.
(this is not me saying you can't be disappointed by elements of the books being left out that would be hypocritical of me. but these are and were always going to be different pieces of media with the same story. if you don't like it you don't have to watch it.)

It's been 7 long years.
The final season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians has just begun to release.
The Ares and Apollo cabins are in a dispute over ownership for the flying chariot.
The counselors sit around a table in the Big House.
Percy has just learned that he's (probably) gonna die in the next month, when Clarisse and Michael begin to bicker. Percy has had it up to here.
He starts clapping rhythmically. There is a lull in the room as they stare at him.
He claps faster.
"Oh golly, the road's getting bumpy, cause I've got me some friends who just can't get along-"

it’s brought up in one of the short story books that it was thalia getting injured that was why they had to go to mays and that makes her death so much worse
like luke was willing to go back bc she needed a safe place and after he bears that trip she dies anyway
The implication that someone was so sick, so hurt, so tired that Luke took Annabeth and Thalia to his mother’s house. His mother’s house.
They were probably nearby enough, and Thalia probably knew that. I would imagine that it was her who was pushing it—her who was demanding that Luke take them there, her who understands and is still asking this, her who is prioritizing the little girl who has small legs and has been trying her best but just needs somewhere to rest.
Or maybe it was Luke. Maybe he knew they needed someplace safe, even for a day. Maybe he thought that he’d be able to bear his mother’s house (his mother’s love) for just a little while. That it might be worth it.

Currently sick to my stomach thinking about how Percy was talking to Luke about why he didn’t choose him because he was worried if it came between him and Annabeth he’d betray him for Annabeth and he betrayed them both.

why is thalia grace one of my favorite characters in the entire percy jackson universe? bc she is the most important character to the conflict of pjo and percy never realizes.
i love that he never realizes bc once the series has started, it doesn't actually matter. thalia is the trigger, the last straw, the motivation, whatever you want to call it for luke to truly hate the gods. before thalia's death he didn't like them, but he wanted to. he wanted their attention, he wanted them to prove him wrong. but then she dies and he has to watch as, instead of healing her, zeus turns her into a tree.
years before the lightning thief even takes place luke hates the gods. his quest was his final failure that made him join kronos, but thalia was put him on the path in the first place. she was the first domino to fall and there's nothing percy could have done in the series to change that. that's why i love that no one realizes the importance, except maybe thalia herself. maybe that was why she sat crying during titans curse when she thought no one was watching. it doesn't really matter bc it was too late to change anything, but she has to live with it anyway.
this is why i love what the show is doing with thalia so far. she is a ghost haunting luke and annabeth. to annabeth she is the personification of glory. she died a hero's death and gave her life for annabeth, but annabeth only knew her for two weeks. she idolized her, she didn't know her. at 7 years old when she was told all these things about gods and glory and honor, she was pushed into the mindset of worshiping the gods. she would do anything to earn their approval and be on the same level as thalia. luke did know her. they lived on the run with each other for two years. they saw first hand the pain that followed demigods, they struggled to survive together. to luke, thalia died a hero, not as a demigod or a champion of her godly parent, but as herself. she did not die in glory, she died in sacrifice and instead of honoring her and being something of a parent zeus turned her into a tree. he was 14 he already had his own opinions about the gods and this emphasized them. while annabeth was pushed towards the gods, luke was pushed away from them.
its a wonder annabeth didn't notice sooner

changes in the pjo show that are better than their book counterparts (from a chronic over analyzer who has been obsessed with this series since age 12)
sally working morality lessons and her own opinions into explaining the greek myths to percy (sally is amazing any details included that allow more of her character to be shown are fine with me i love learning more about her thought process. i also think its a really interesting and more subtle way to show that the mortal parents of demigods are also impacted negatively/are victims of the gods actions.)
stating outright that luke sees annabeth as his sister (bc luke seeing annabeth as anything other than his sister defeats the point of the series in a lot of ways. it makes him irredeemable and is disgusting which overshadows all of his valid arguments and the way percy mirrors him. it's like when an author makes a morally gray character commits some vile act that is out of character but is so bad readers can't ignore it in order to turn that character into a "true villain".)
BRINGING UP THALIA (thalia is one of my favorite characters in the whole series so of course i'm ok with any mention of her, but it sets up future events so well. we understand characters motives sooner, its probably a way that luke can gauge whether a demigod will join the titan army based on their reactions to the story, WE SEE HOW DIFFERENTLY IT EFFECTED LUKE AND ANNABETH)
the medusa and annabeth parallel (that change shows the truth of the gods in one parallel. it sets up annabeth's change in mind set that we get to by the last olympian. i can't explain how much i love this parellel.)
annabeth being the one to watch luke's string be cut (he is her family, it will be her dagger, it is only fair she be the one to see it. that is all i have to say about it.)
GROVER MANIPULATING A GOD (i love this so much bc i think it shows his desperation in a way. he knows how much is riding on this and after finding his uncle and percy falling from the arch he is willing to do anything to succeed. no more thalias.)
there's probably more but that all i can think of atm

something i don't think is talked about enough is how much luke and thalia affected each other and made each other into the characters we see in the main series. like with how they both affected annabeth its acknowledged bc annabeth is important to percy so its relevant to his perspective, but he doesn't think about it in reference to luke and thalia so i guess it isn't talked about as much bc of that.
i was thinking about this because i was realizing just how stupid of the gods it was to accuse percy of stealing the master bolt. like when you have the option of someone with the skills (son of the god of theives), the opportunity (the winter solstice olympus visit), and most importantly MOTIVE (literally watch his best and arguably only friend who is a daughter of zeus die and get turned into a tree instead of healed when he was 14 YEARS OLD) why would anyone think it was percy
(my theory is that zeus knew it wasn't percy and highly suspected luke but accusing him would mean admitting he was wrong for what he did to thalia so he accused percy in hopes of moving the great prophecy along so he could keep his power)

I've seen so many posts abt Feral Jason and how Rick didn't let the Boy Raised by Wolves act like a feral little shit throughout the series. But have you ever considered Feral Thalia?
My girl literally raised herself while dealing with an abusive drunk mom for 6 years, spent 2 more raising her baby brother and like 4 years on the streets getting hunted down by monsters sent by her uncle. Got TORN apart by Hellhounds at 12 bc she wanted to save her friends and spent 6ish years as a tree.
You look me in the eyes and tell me Thalia wasn't Feral. You look me in the eyes and tell me Jason and Thalia are not the most feral ppl in this show by demigod standards.
